Lets put an end to this

I loved him, I stood by him, I fought for him. Listened to his cries, sorrows, and complaints. Consoled him when he had no one. But he never did the same. He was never there when I needed him, never there during my hard times and always showed up late during my important days. But I didn't mind, I loved him and I believed that he loved me too. That was all that mattered. I was naïve back then but not any more. Everything changed when Viktor, my boyfriend invited me to a party. He said that I had to be there because I was his guest of honour. I was overwhelmed with joy as I prepared for the night, I didn't know what the party was for, I just knew that I had to be there.

    '' What if he wants to propose? '' Olivia spoke with excitement as she worked on my hair. He was happy for me, strongly believing that he wanted to propose.

    '' I don't think so '' shyly and she noticed

    '' Look at you '' she teased, with her eyes focused on the mirror '' pretending to be cool ''

    '' I don't think he wants to propose '' I bit the edge of my lips, trying to hold in all does excitement

    ''Why else would he call you the guest of honour Elena... it is obvious ''

    '' You really think he would propose? '' I lift my head to look at her. My gaze met with hers

    '' I can feel a proposal coming tonight... You know I am never wrong '' she wiggled her eyebrow '' My wify would soon be engaged '' she teased

    '' Stop it '' her words made me blush

            I arrived at the party. It was a luxurious one, filled with wealthy people from different states. All dress, stunning. The place was breath taking and I felt a little out of place but I didn't mind. I was here for my boyfriend. I was given a seat, at the high table and I noticed people's gaze on me, probably wondering who this little girl was. I tried texting Viktor but I got no response, he didn't respond to my calls either and at that moment, I began to feel uneasy, something was wrong somewhere, I texted Olivia and she told me to leave the place if I didn't feel comfortable. But I couldn't, I couldn't just leave without telling Viktor and just like magic, he walked onto the stage, holding, another lady walking beside him. He had his hands around her waist and they walked, he looked like a happy couple. I Couldn't comprehend what was going on until what Olivia predicted, happened. There was a proposal, but not to me, to another woman. My boyfriend proposed to another woman, right in from of me and the worst of it all was when he called my name and the spotlight landed on me, calling the entire audience's attention to me. My world went numb when he said those words '' I want to say thank you to my dear friend, Elena Rose, the one person who has stood by me and supported me until this stage in my life '' he came down from the stage and walked up to my table. Standing in front of me, with that smile, I have grown to love. He grabbed a glass of wine and lifted it '' A  toast, to you my friend '' He said...

            '' I am sorry Elena... but you should have gotten the hint '' he stood at the back of the building while others celebrated inside. I needed an explanation, it had to be a prank or a movie because things don't just happen like this. The Man I know is not so heartless

    '' Hint... gotten a hint? '' trying to hold by my tears while I spoke '' What hint ''

    '' For Goodness sake, Elena.. you and I both know that it wouldn't work between us... We are from two different worlds Elena '' he spoke coldly... I tried looking into his eyes to see if there was any sign of a lie or guilt, but there was nothing. It was cold and empty. The man I knew was nowhere to be found

    '' Different worlds haa ''

    '' Yes different world Elena... it is impossible to be with a woman with no power or status.. I have said it before. I have a company to take over, and to do that I need power and you wouldn't get me that power. ''

    '' So let me get this straight '' the tears finally came running '' You got engaged to someone else, just because I am a nobody ''

    '' When you put it like that Elena.. you make me look like a villain '' The pain in my chest levelled up. This felt like my heart was shattered and set on fire. I felt the heart of this fire in my cheeks and my eyes as the tears ran out '' Elena.. '' he paused, then took a set forward, looking down at me. '' I appreciate the 6 years we spent together. You are a loving and caring woman. But this is how we end. Apart from the fact that you have no power or status, you are too Conservative and difficult to handle. What kind of girlfriend limits the way her boyfriend touches her  ''

    '' What?'' speechless

    '' I am sorry Elena... But Let's put an end to this '' he says '' I have a fiance now, so let's move on as friends '' he smiles then offers his hand for me to take

    '' Friends? ''

    '' Yes friends ''

    '' Friends.. After 6 years of dating? '' our gaze met

    '' I said don't look at me like that... you are making me look like a bad person '' he frowned while taking away his hand

    '' Sweetheart '' A female voice interrupted. Summer. The lady, Viktor proposed too. We used to be friends in college until I started dating Viktor and she turned me into her enemy. Finally, she got what she wanted, she won. '' What are you doing.... oh '' she let out the moment she spotted me

    '' Hey Elena '' she walks to come stand beside Viktor. Locking arms with his '' how are you doing? '' smiled as she rested her head on his shoulder

    '' what are you doing outside sweety '' He asked

    '' you left me alone in there... I missed you '' acting cute

    '' I am sorry.. let go in '' In silence, pain, anger. I watched them leave me alone in the dark heartbroken.

    ''Ha'' in a low whisper, I fell to the ground and let it all out.

And that was it. I watched my boyfriend propose to another woman break up with me like it was nothing. He called me a nobody and conservative and said I was difficult to handle. I guess there were indeed signs, signs that I ignored because I was madly in love with him. But that was it. That has to be the last. I swore to never let it happen again, never to love again, never to give my all to a relationship. I would rather be alone, or be with a man that would sacrifice for me instead. I was done with doing the sacrifice.
