Responsibilities

Another two years had passed. Leon was now sixteen and quite the looker. After spending so much time inside, Leon had reached a bottleneck, it wasn't a major one, and he hadn't engaged in a decent battle in four years.

Instead, he had taken up meditation under a secluded waterfall Mike had shown him once when he wasn't meditating. He was managing his family's affairs. A year ago, Leon approached his father with interest in taking more responsibility as the heir.

Leon essentially became the head of the house in all but name. He started by selling some of the family's older assets that wouldn't prove useful for much longer. Using those funds, Leon paid off some of the family's debts and owed favors.

When their time came, he didn't want anyone having leverage over them. The other massive project of his was a private army. Leon's mother still had some connections in Meteor City, so he started to hire anyone to train them as a secret force.

To them, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The benefits were just too good to give up, health care that rivaled that of a CEO of a multibillion-dollar company.

All they had to do was swear life service to the Zoldyck family until an honorable discharge. And the perks after that were even better.

The army was about twenty-five hundred strong, and out of that, one hundred of them practiced Nen. Besides the standard firearms and close-up combat training, every person specialized in one of five fields.

Assassination, Infantry, Medics, Contractors, and Special Ops. Every category had 24 Generals and one Major. Leon reserved those spots for Nen users only, tasked every general with having a protege to teach Nen so they could take their place if the need arose.

The assassination field was the second smallest group with 150 people. They dealt in the removal of anyone or anything that proved to be a threat. The infantry was the largest with a force of 1436. They were the foot soldiers and significant strength of the army.

Medics were the second largest with 600, split into two subcategories, combat medics, and surgeons. The combat medics would be with the infantry for on the spot Medicare and ensure the soldier would survive long enough to get to the surgeons. And then surgeons who would do everything on the operation table.

The contractors were split into 25 ten-man squads, each lead by a General. They were trained in kidnapping, securing an area, rescue, deployment, and everything in between.

In the last division, the special ops were the smallest, solely composed of the 25 most potent Nen users, reserved for the most critical and dangerous missions.

In his army, Leon made sure to incorporate three core rules. One, if you took care of the family, they took care of you. Two, the army did not tolerate traitors. And three, loyalty was rewarded.

Leon sighed as he toweled off from his most recent meditation session. He hadn't moved from his spot in two days. Leon didn't regret taking on all the responsibilities, but it sure was a lot of work.

Putting back on his clothes, Leon left his recluse and returned to his office. The mansion was on high alert again as Kikyo was pregnant. Leon guessed that with him taking over, his parents had even more time to bump uglies.

He was opening the door to his office when Leon's eyes lost all signs of drowsiness as he caught the needle thrown at his forehead. Jumping back as about a thousand more needles came flying his way, Leon found the culprit.

Stopping the knives in midair, Leon got rid of all their momentum, letting them drop to the ground. Looking up at the corner of the room, Leon saw a miniature turret no larger than a lockbox.

There was a string attached to the door, and Leon triggered it when he entered the room. Sighing, Leon called a maid to clean up the mess, and he went to search for the culprit.

Walking down into the basement, Leon stopped in front of a heavily armored door. Opening it, Leon looked at Milluki, who was sitting in front of his PC.

"Milluki, what did I tell you about setting up traps around the house. If one of the maids triggered your trap, they might not have escaped injury-free." Leon said, chastising the eight-year-old.

"Like they would enter your room without permission, everyone knows not to mess with you," Milluki responded, not turning around to face Leon still playing his game.

Sighigh, Leon couldn't find fault in his logic, "But still, why did you do such a thing, your paying for all the damage?"

"I wanted to test out my new turret. Besides, the bill won't even make a dent in my wallet." A tick mark appeared on Leon's forehead, and he walked over to the shelf of figurines.

Leon picked up several rarer ones and walked out the "Well, I'll just keep these for insurance."

Before Milluki could react, Leon disappeared down the hallway, "Give back my collection!!!" Leon laughed as he shook his head. Milluki hated it when anyone touched his stuff.

After giving back Milluki his toys after he paid for the damage, Leon sat down in another office space in the mansion.

There was a shipment of weapons and gear that just arrived for his army so he had to check over the finances to make sure everything was legit.

"This is going to be a long day."
