The Girl Eating Steamed Buns

With this development the woman who had been excited that Liang Yu had a child could now see the look on Lei Jin's face clearly. He was at the next level of fury. Whatever it was called after one goes off the edge, that's exactly what he was feeling.

His aura became slightly unstable. Not that anything bad was about to happen but he was about to demonstrate a new ability. One he hadn't been able to muster before. But now with his mind having gone blank it clicked. He didn't want anyone to die. But he couldn't handle his own righteous fury.

Shortly his Aura exploded and flared. His face was completely fine and he looked like he was holding it together. Aside from the now constant stream of tears. He put both rings on his left hand to distinguish which ring was which at a glance. As he moved his cultivation quickly advanced. He held out another hand, his body loose and relaxed. This hand was held out towards the 8th order infront of him.

A strange albeit weak force began to heal some of her wounds. "Your parents were brave. Please don't do anything reckless." She said, worried this power might be consuming his life force.

He then swept his hand over to the other 8th ranks. And when he did they could feel their wounds lessen slightly. Not much but it was enough to make walking a bit easier.

"Thank you young man." The severely injured 8th rank said.

"Don't go dying on me! I won't allow it! My parents didn't die just so you could do the same!" Lei Jin said, through the rivers pouring down his tiny face. This was a rare thing.

An 8th order being scolded by someone so young it made him chuckle a bit. "This Old Master naturally won't let myself die. Not after such a heroic sacrifice was made. You have my word, Lei Jin." The 8th order man said.

"When I finally get strong enough, I'll kill the Ink Clan!" Lei Jin shouted out loud. Obviously furious at what terrible news he had received today. He decided to use this time to consolidate his power and practice this ability to heal.

For the next 6 months the whole of Azure Void Pass could see Lei Jin zipping around and healing as many injuries as he could using his own power. It was taxing on him but he needed to do this.

This healing power was nothing incredible when compared to other methods. That said it was still an extra comfort that many cultivators were naturally seeking. Even if it wasn't much, Lei Jin didn't charge anything. He was in it to strengthen himself. He had just finished healing someone when the Old Ancestor called for him.

Lei Jin appeared in front of his master and cupped his hands. "Master, disciple is here." Lei Jin said, seriously.

"Try these methods and techniques. I think they will be helpful for you. I can sense that you have an affinity with the dao of time so you should study this as well. I'm also sending you to Yin-Yang Pass. You'll be there for a year or two. I have to enter seclusion and won't be able to help in your instruction." Azure Void Old Ancestor said. Tossing a ring containing the myriad of techniques and methods that Lei Jin would be attempting to study.

"Disciple will head out at once to follow the master's order." Lei Jin said.

"Wait, I want to stress how important it is that you advance to the saint king realm before you go. So I have ordered the others to keep you from heading out until you succeed. Understand." Old Ancestor said.

"Disciple understands, I will advance now." Lei Jin said.

Old Ancestor let him out and instantly the heavenly way tribulation filled the void. Wherever it appears the ink force disappeared under the veil of a brilliant energy. Compared to the others in any of the human race passes, he was by no stretch of anyone's imagination the weakest one. Yet this tribulation trial was quite powerful. Easily on par with a good aptitude origin king. This meant that the heavens thought as a saint realm he would be able to handle such a massive force of energy.

The lighting struck down with many mighty blows. Some wondered if it really was him that was doing this. He had just reached the saint realm. Moreover, he was only 8 years old. This could be said to be an outstanding talent. Reaching the 9th order Open Heaven was not out of his reach. And once that happened, who could stop their Human race from revenging on the Ink Clan for all the pain, death and suffering all these untold number of years.

The baptism didn't take longer than a day. Each strike was relentless and unyielding. However, with just his perceptiveness, this kind of thing was nothing. He came out of it uninjured as a 1st order Saint King. He now had the qualifications to learn some of the methods he found in the space ring he received earlier. Once done with his consolidation he left for Yin-Yang pass.

It wasn't that there was anything super important but Lei Jin would soon find out once he arrived.

On the other end, Yin-Yang pass had received the order well ahead of time that someone was coming. This person was really important to an Old Ancestor. Naturally once they heard that, it was enough to shape them up for anyone.

A kid showed up and looked around. He saw that the ones managing the gate were confused for a moment. But once they saw the Old Ancestors Disciple token it became obvious this was indeed who they were ordered to accommodate.

"Little Junior, please follow me. We have prepared a place for you to stay. It's quite close to our small market place." The pass disciple said, looking at Lei Jin.

"Oh! You have a marketplace! Is there tasty food?" Lei Jin asked. He was just being a kid. But to him all he ever knew was the war-like pass. Even losing his parents so early in his years.it made sense to him now why his parents found him a good master.

"There are a few good things there. Though I'm afraid you'll have a hard time." The disciple said as the two walked.

"Don't worry! I, Lei Jin, like to eat tasty food." He said licking his lips.

They stopped walking when they arrived at a small courtyard. There was a place open and it was to be for Lei Jin's use. It didn't need to be big so they didn't make it big. It was just right for him and his purposes.

"This is your home for the duration of your stay here at Yin-Yang pass. The market place is just 2 streets down. You can't miss it." The disciple said. Then left in a hurry.

Lei Jin didn't blame him. He couldn't. A battlefield child would be too much to deal with. Yet he had been ordered to escort one. And someone so far beneath him. It was like a dragon leading a single albeit talented ant. An ant is still an ant though.

Lei Jin took a look around the small home he had been assigned and found a tablet that showed a list of all the names of people who had lived here before him. "I guess everywhere has one of these. A way to remember those who fought and died to keep such a fragile peace. A way to remember what the human race cultivators had been fighting for all this time." He said, inscribing his own name in the tablet with a description of himself like cultivation rank and cave heaven they came from.

After he decided to take some time to comprehend the methods and secret techniques he had been gifted before. One of which was a method to trap a target in a cage of time. "Time Lock?" Lei Jin said, puzzled. He started to cultivate this method regardless though.

It didn't take him much more effort than the amount of time it takes for a cup of tea. He had cultivated this technique to the first level. Feeling proud of himself he took a crack at the other methods as well.

One by one he learned each method. It had been a couple of days. He hadn't heard anything so maybe it was up to him to explore. He got up and left the room. He began to follow the instructions left behind by that one senior. Eventually he came across the marketplace. But not before having passed by multiple cultivators who were curious why a kid was here.

While Lei Jin was reading the stone tablets he noticed something. Not on the tablet but what the person just passed them. The currency they were using was something he had never seen before. Let alone know what the name was.

Lei Jin looked at it wondering what it could be. Yet he had no idea. It sorta looked like a copper coin of some kind. However he couldn't figure it out for sure.

A cultivator of the pass was on their way into the marketplace. Lei Jin decided to ask them.

"Senior, I am new here and don't know what that coin is. Would senior be willing to tell me?" Lei Jin asked. Bowing politely.

"A kid? Hmm… that coin is a copper coin. This is what they look like. If you don't have any you're going to have a rough time in this place. Where are your parents? Perhaps they can give you some spending money?" The cultivator said. Before walking away and disappearing into the crowd.

Lei Jin was still no closer to figuring this place out. It seemed like this place was the reason he was sent here to this pass. Yet how could he enter without money? Still he figured that maybe it would be best to enter and explore before.

Lei Jin walked around the place. He was looking at all of the things displayed. It was clear it was just a bunch of random mundane things. None of which were beneficial to his cultivation. He did however smell something absolutely amazing. He followed the scent in the air and found himself staring in the window of a bun shop.

This sight confused him since he could tell the people cooking were clearly powerful cultivators. Lei Jin couldn't help but notice another child. She looked younger than him. He could feel that she was a Saint Realm cultivator just like he was earlier. Was she like me? What happened to her?

Just as he thought about these questions the woman who had been cooking just now sat down with the girl and started talking to her. "That must be her mother. Then I guess she was not like me?" Lei Jin felt sad for a moment then he thought "It's better this way. Losing his family like that in one swoop was not something he wished on anybody. All the bad things that happened after this tragic event in his life felt minor and meaningless. Thus he couldn't cry about anything.

Lei Jin decided to go inside the shop. He was worried he wouldn't be able to do anything but he did want to try the buns he had been smelling for sometime now. To do that he must enter the shop.

"Ah, young man, welcome to the Lin family shop. Are you here to eat?" A 7th rank asked. This person was previously told a kid would be arriving soon. So he played his part well.

"Forgive me senior, I couldn't help but enter. The smell is pleasant and satisfying. Yet I can't stay to eat." Lei Jin said, realizing that this might not work.

"Then leave. You dare to enter when you can't pay! What kind of manners did your parents teach you? Do I have to teach you a lesson in their place?" The 7th order said. He didn't feel good about saying this. After all this whole thing was built just for their Old Ancestor to heal. It felt wrong to yell at a child who clearly had been born on this battlefield. He cursed himself in his heart silently for having to do this.

Lei Jin didn't understand this place. He was understandably upset by this. He came to this pass with no explanation and now a place like this was here. He was yelled at before he could ask questions. Let alone get answers. But the comment about his parents.

"Go on now, get out of here kid. Get lost." The cultivator said after seeing Lei Jin stood there unmoving.

However, this was not a good place. "You're a hateful person. I was going to ask where I can get money. Instead I've decided that this Yin-Yang pass is simply hateful." Lei Jin said, turning and leaving. Not showing any respect. He was beyond angry.

Lei Jin left the marketplace and headed back to the small home that had been prepared for him. He erased his name from the tablet. He didn't want to dignify this cursed place with his presence. After he collected the things he left strewn about.

He didn't leave right away. He was tired and had just been reminded of his loss. Now the place his master sent him was really so hateful. He began cultivating with the restriction activated. He was furious. That hateful man insulted his parents.

"Master, will be upset but, this place is not one I can stay in. It's simply like oil and water." Lei Jin thought to himself.
