"Stop! We can't understand each other, so please, stop," I urge, resorting to hand gestures to convey my message.

I look at the guy who tried to grab me and call over an other guy, estimating his age to be somewhere between 18 to 19. As he walks up to me, he starts making circular gestures with different paths in the air.

Just as I was about to speak, I noticed that he was about to say something, so I waited for him to speak first. His expression seemed earnest, and I couldn't help but feel a flicker of hope that we might find a way to communicate despite the language barrier.

"Hello, I'm Kevin, and this is my friend John," he introduces, motioning towards his companion. "We're headed to the capital. If you'd like to join us, you're more than welcome," he adds with a friendly smile.

"Oh, thank goodness you speak the same language! Why didn't you say anything earlier?" I exclaims, relieved to finally be able to communicate directly.

"Where is this place? I've been lost. Can you help me find the nearest town, or could you lend me your phone so I can call the police?"

"Well, you're close to the capital. If you follow us, you can get there. This is the Riast Kingdom, but I'm not sure about the last two," Kevin explains, offering some guidance.

"Wait, why are you saying 'kingdom'? Did I miss something here? I'm in the year 2023, right?"

"You know what, forget about it. Do you have any food on you?" I ask, my stomach rumbling audibly as hunger sets in.

"Oh, um, yeah, here you go," Kevin says, offering me some food from his pack.

"Thanks," I say, gratefully accepting the food. "I'm Kiftd. Nice to meet you," I add with a smile, feeling a sense of relief at the unexpected kindness.

"By the way, what's his problem? Why did he grab me?" I inquire, pointing towards John with a curious expression.

"Oh, that was because he tends to have a bit of a temper with new people," Kevin explains, offering an apologetic smile.

"What did he say?" I inquire, eager to understand the reason behind John's actions.

"He's just saying that we need to keep moving before nightfall. If you want, you can follow us to the carriage and make it to the capital," Kevin explains, motioning towards their waiting transportation.

"Yeah, I'll take you up on that offer," I reply, grateful for the assistance.

As Kevin leads me to the carriage, I take the time to reflect on everything that has happened. The events of the day whirl through my mind, leaving me feeling both bewildered and intrigued by the unexpected turn of events.

"Why did he say 'kingdom'?" I mull over the question as we make our way to the carriage. "And why are they this close to the forest without a phone? And why are they wearing those clothes?" My mind races with unanswered questions, leaving me increasingly curious about my new companions and the world around me.
