Chapter 9

Under a resigned sigh, I follow in the footsteps of Luis and Gabriel. We pass the immense building where all the classrooms are, we enter a path cleared of vegetation, we walk for a long time.

I watch, attentively, the path of dark stone, at its edges the grass grows rebellious, a few meters beyond the forest is reborn.

I start to get impatient when I see that the road forks, between the "V" that form the roads there is a sign with two arrows. I walk up to it, brushing against the smooth oak, hidden under a couple of layers of moss.

I lift my head, there are two arrow signs. Both have a golden plate that is preserved, despite time. I read the one that points to the right:

"Κορίτσια"

The one on the left is just as incomprehensible to me:

"Αγόρια"

I turn to the dark green eyes, what are we waiting for? They both have their arms crossed over their chests, Gabriel maintains a straight posture, although Luis is rather hunched over.

Two joyous voices echo through the trees, and I turn and find two shadowed emeralds gleaming through the thick grove.

- What are you doing there? - Luis half shouts out of himself. They cross glances like two girls covering their backs in the face of mischief.

- We have taken a shortcut! - His voices are so in sync that I feel like Gabriel's aura shudders with mine.

Luis approaches, tries to hold my hands, but I move away instantly. He sighs and looks at me with something like pity.

- We leave you in their hands,- He points over his shoulder to the laughing twins. - They will be your roommates, boys are forbidden to enter the girls' bedroom, so ...

-She's not going to die! - Ashley exclaims as she pulls him by the neck to get in front of me. Gabriel's look told me that this was not a complete truth.

I tighten the cream strap of the bag, push up and put it in place of it so it does not fall. I start to walk to the left when Gabriel's words leave me in my place.

- Girls are also prohibited from entering the boys' dormitory. - His voice sounds more serious than before, I turn around before Luis's laughter resounds above the laughter of the twins.

I feel all the blood stop on my cheeks, I let the hair cover my face… So this is shame…?

After a moment's hesitation, Ashley takes my right hand, Diana her left. Unprepared, they drag me into the dormitory, a building with a Greek facade even bigger than the school itself.

I sigh and try to stop my feet, the twins prevent me from seeing the engravings, the statues sculpted with great skill.

We enter through the open doors, a hall the size of my parents' apartment, covered with marble, makes me open my eyes.

- The doors close at eleven ...

- If you're late, you stay out. - Ashley finishes Diana's sentence, I'm not sure I can get used to their timing. They keep giving me the creeps.

We go up the stairs, at the top there is a window that lets in the light, an almost magical atmosphere. Behind them, when the sun stops blinding me, I discover a beautiful garden, to one side there are tables, deck chairs and even an indoor pool. In the distance I can see an endless expanse of forest.

I'm starting to like this place.

We continue climbing, still imprisoned in their hands, until we reach a dark oak door, at eye level there is a sign, silver, with an inscription:

"Διόνυσος"

We entered without knocking on the door, I feel a kind of… force, going through my entire body when I cross the lumbral. I shrug before letting the bag fall from my hands.

This…

The room is an incredible size.

In the background is an oversized window with green curtains, trailing across the floor carpeted with a soft sand-colored carpet.

To the left are two bunk beds, with white sheets, the top one has pictures of flowering trees, the bottom one is covered with smiling cartoon foxes. I look the other way, there are two doors that confuse me, how many bathrooms are there?

Upon entering, I almost tripped over the leg of a double bed, it is on the wall, the headboard is dark oak, like the bunk. The sheets are almost transparent green, it reminds me of the color of my eyes.

- That's your bed. - The sisters say, trying to clean up the room, all their clothes, notes and junk are lying around in the middle.

In the middle of the room, there is a mahogany table, with three matching chairs, perfect for doing homework. Between the two doors there is a shelf, made of the same material as the table, ready to receive the pile of books that I carry in the bag.

I open the first door, letting the twins tidy up their part of the room.

I come across a bathroom covered in marble, it has a bathtub, which I am going to put to good use in the background. To my right is a sink, the mirror above has a picture frame strange, but beautiful.

I go a little further in my research, behind the door there is a shelf with three drawers at the bottom and three shelves at the top. I bend down and open the first drawer with curiosity, there is a whole set of shampoos, gels and creams waiting for me to open them.

On the first shelf are emerald towels neatly stacked. I take a closer look at the other shelves and gossip at the other drawers. I gather that they belong to the sisters, the chaos that reigns in their things is not normal.

Sigh, I can't stand the mess.

Next to the shelf, there are three sacks hanging on the wall, on top of these there is a sticker for each one. I see the one written in my name before Diana's voice brings me out of my reverie.

- Those are for dirty laundry. - I nod, I leave the bathroom and open the second door, passing next to that beautiful source of wisdom, without preventing my fingers from brushing the soft wood.

When I open, I find a closet of disproportionate size, a strange shelf that shelters shoes with a strange inclination, intact. I raise an eyebrow, close my eyes and sigh, gather my strength and glance quickly left and right.

Everything is as messy as I expected or, dare I say, more.

Open doors that serve as a hanger, drawers inside the closet scrambled. Only flying shoes were missing.

I walk, trying to stay calm, down to the closet that seems to be mine. When I open it, I find myself wearing clothes of the same shades that the other Sons of Dionysus wear. All green, except for a dark brown coat or skirt. I open the drawer of underwear, surprised to see how fixated they are on green.

I decide that it is enough, I open the second drawer, I take a pajamas of… Green color… I think I will go crazy.

I shake my head, put it on, and go back to the room.

The twins are watching me.

- Don't you want to tour the school? - I shake my head.

<< I'm tired of the trip. >>

- But today is Italian food night. - I open my eyes distrustful from the bed.

<< Is there lasagna? >>

They both let out a laugh at a time, with the same timbre of voice.

- Sure! - No, really, I'm not going to get used to their timing.

I shake my head as we close the door and go downstairs to the dining room.

Not only did I get the loudest group, but also the messiest.
