Chapter 7

Rin listened to Kear as she told her about Veno. She was able to share a memory of Veno's with Rin. This would help let her know that Veno was still alive. Rin took it well and Kear helped with dinner as they continued to talk.

"I'm sorry about making a mess with the kids. I can help clean them up in the bath so you don't have to work too hard."

"I understand why you did it and I'm happy it worked out."

"Hopefully one day Veno can have his body back."

"I hope so too, but I hope there doesn't need to be a choice."

"I already died once, there is no reason for me to be like this. If there is one, Veno is my top priority."

In a way, Kear gave up the thought that this is all a trick to get information from the United Federation. Even if it was, this was enough to make her dreams come true. The birthplace of humanity is not driven by total war with itself and other sentient life. This is a place where she can relax.

To Kear this is all about Veno. She must give his body back to this kid, so he can grow up and live his own life.

---

'Veno can you try moving your hand?'

'I'm trying, but the feeling is weird. I can feel it, but it doesn't move at all.'

'I hope we can switch places. These people depend on you and I want you to have your body back.'

'I don't want you to die. I know that you didn't ask for this.'

'Well we don't know what will happen, so for now just focus on moving your body as much as you can.'

'… Kear can you tell me more about yourself and the life you lived?'

---

Kear told Veno how she grew up in the military as a translator. Learning different languages was difficult, but since birth she did have an easy time. The knowledge came easy to remember, but the amount she had to consume was too great. Then she needed to learn battle techniques and general knowledge that one should have.

She skipped a bit of personal stuff and ended with her last day.

'You must have been really strong to fight them off like that Kear!'

'Due to the drug I couldn't feel any pain, so I took them down with me. I was actually super scared when that happened.'

'You did everything you could but there isn't anything to worry about.'

'Veno you are a good person, you know that?'

'I'm pretty amazing ain't I? Wait did I move my finger?'

'Sorry that was me I was planning on cleaning up in the shower, then I remembered what you were doing, sorry.'

'It's fine.'

---

Kear was able to learn a little bit about Veno's body. How she needed to take care of it or if there was anything special like allergies she needed to watch out for. Getting out of the shower, Kear thought it would be nice to sing for Veno.

'Veno do you want to hear a song?'

'Please!'

Kear could hear how happy Veno was at that. During the shower, Kear sang a song she heard in the waiting areas of the United Federation. This song was her favorite and she knew everything about it.

Kear didn't realize it in the shower, but she was crying. No not her, the body.

'Veno are you crying?'

'No! I mean that was the first song I had ever heard…'

'Look in the mirror.'

Tears rolled down Veno's face in the mirror and a happy smile appeared on their face. Kear thought that maybe the reason he accepted her so easily was the fact he could hear Kear.

A short one as the end of this small introduction.
