Chapter 30: Blending in!!!

Baldwin Raymond led the group into the human world as he marched forward like a monarch leading his people through a glorious exit.

Except for Lancelot, every other person had a look of uncertainty and fear.

They had no idea what they would meet in the human world but the tales of the wickedness and greed of humans had left a deep fear within them.

Dice thought back to Cherry, he had not been himself since leaving her behind.

Yes, it was his doing that she was pregnant but he couldn't help it, he missed her a lot.

There was no one he could speak to about these matters.

Every other person had their issues to sort out and the only person with whom he shared a connection to Cherry,' Lancelot', would rather kill him than have that form of conversation.

So he had to gulp it in and endure till his return.

Now that he was going even farther, he felt the distance between himself and Cherry widen even more.

Xanthus held his spear and spun it in his hands as he thought of his unrequited love, 'Kendra'.

He hated Lancelot but what could he do against the chosen one?

The world needed him, and even aside from that, he was powerless before him.

Different thought patterns circulated in different people's minds according to their individual issues.

Lancelot himself thought of Kendra often but he didn't dwell on it, as a leader, he felt he should be at a peak condition without distractions otherwise, he could cost the team their lives.

Soon they arrived in the human world, all 31 of them including Baldwin Raymond were all present.

Some soldiers from each nation were left behind in case the invisible passage to the forest nation was opened so they could give them the message about their whereabouts.

Lancelot could feel a rapid deterioration in his affinity to the elements,

"the power of the elements is weaker here"

He said to the back of Baldwin who was marching forward to locate where he packed his car.

"Hmmm'

Baldwin nodded, then he opened the door of his car and stopped to look at everybody.

"There are 31 of us, so I will be getting a hotel for everyone, you could stay for one day before you return just to feel what this world is like"

Baldwin spoke to the particularly unmotivated crowd,

He felt like they were simply following orders which were not part of their desires.

Eventually, after the arrangements were made and they were transported to the right venue, they got to the hotel where they were to sleep.

After scientist Charles detected that he couldn't get through to the men he sent to abduct Baldwin, he decided to send more, when they couldn't trace him they decided to lay ambush at his house.

While the rest were at the hotel being treated to the top services the hotel had to offer, Lancelot followed Baldwin out to obtain some materials which Baldwin felt the others would need.

He decided to obtain materials like a change of clothes to blend in and also a way to hide their identities by make up and disguise.

As they drove through town, they noticed some cars that started following them closely,

"This Charles is starting to get on my nerves",

Baldwin Raymond blurted out before his face squeezed into a frown.

"Who is Charles?"

Lancelot asked confused.

Baldwin turned to him and explained the part about Charles,

"...so that's why he sent these men after me" He completed, then he gave Lancelot a second look,

"You've never driven a car before I'm sure, yet you're so naturally unbothered and even well adjusted, is there something I'm missing?"

Baldwin Raymond asked.

Lancelot smiled and replied;

"I know about the universe and time itself, although not totally, but bits and pieces so I've seen quite a lot in those flashes, it makes me rarely surprised by anything anymore",

Lancelot said casually, this made Baldwin's eyes to widen in surprise,

"Wow, knowledge of the universe, I've read of something like that, a prophecy about a god born in the modern era able to command all elements and he had the knowledge of the secrets of the universe, could you perhaps be that man?"

Baldwin Raymond furrowed his brow after speaking.

Lancelot smiled even wider,

"Now that sounds like a legend, a fairy tale told to little kids, let's just say I have exceptional abilities, that'll be all"

Lancelot said then he changed the topic,

"So how do we deal with these people since we cant be openly displaying our abilities?"

Baldwin Raymond then remembered the situation,

"We can still use our abilities but we must obscure it as much as possible"

He then swerved the car to the side to block the movement of a vehicle while another got to the other side and tried to push their car off the road.

Lancelot got to work immediately.

He started to manipulate the wind to whoosh into the car that was trying to push them off the road.

The wind carried a bit of fire and tore at the driver at a breakneck speed.

As it flowed in, it singed the skin of the driver and destroyed his eyes rendering him blind before dissipating like it was nonexistent.

The driver lost control and slammed into a nearby wall that served as one of the numerous poles that held the bridge firm.

He died on the spot while the car was smashed into the wall like a nail.

One down four to go.

The remaining four cars kept speeding up like they had been triggered.

Baldwin Raymond lost focus for a few seconds as he stared at Lancelot,

"You have control over multiple elements?

...incredible!"

He didn't bother to speak but now he knew why Lancelot appeared so self-confident.

The second car and third car appeared on both sides of Lancelot and Baldwin Raymond's car.

As soon as they showed up they corked and pointed their guns directly at Baldwin Raymond and Lancelot from left to right simultaneously.

Lancelot had a smile all through, even Baldwin Raymond felt cold sweat breaking from his neck yet he was surprised to see that Lancelot was smiling,

'Does he know what these guns were capable of unleashing?'

Baldwin thought to himself as he saw the smile on Lancelot's face.

Immediately, a mixture of moisture from the air suddenly turned into icicles and smashed into the hands of the attackers holding a gun.

As soon as the icicles struck, it was immediately replaced by a ball of fire that formed of its own accord.

The alternating of cold and hot temperatures destroyed their arms completely making them wither like a plant deprived of water.

They screamed in pain as they lost control of the cars they were driving.

Lancelot took advantage of this loss of concentration and immediately summoned worms into their eyes and nostrils.

These worms ate into them like they had been starved all their lives.

They died a few minutes later and their cars crashed simultaneously leaving the last car which stopped following Baldwin and Lancelot's car.

Out of fear and concern, the last car just stopped and kept observing the scenes that had just occurred. It was mind boggling.

'How did all these happen, they didn't even point a gun yet the drivers had all been killed, how?'

But before the last set of people could collect their thought, multiple flame balls had landed on all parts of the car simultaneously and consumed it.

An inferno was summoned out of nothing and it turned them to ashes.

Not even remnants of their bodies were left behind.

A set of people managed to escape but they were met with the waiting Baldwin who had gotten out of the car to face them.

Baldwin charged at them and immediately blasted them with balls of fire of his highest rating.

They became ashes in seconds.

He smirked and turned to Lancelot.

"We make a good team!"

Baldwin remarked while Lancelot smiled as they both walked back to their car and drove off
