A clueless high schooler’s life would be in the hands of the country's best men and women. Also what complications does it have when getting too close with the main objective? Is getting comfortable enough to get the entire world on the bleeding edge of destruction, hopefully not.

Recovering From The Incident

After this incident, we were dismissed early thanks to Claire. Who seems to know how to handle such a situation. Then again she gave us already the message we need to finally go home after a tiring and stressful day.

I processed what happened today as if it was surreal. I didn't know Hailey and Sylve had the capability to produce weapons on their own. Especially ones that are okay with the teachers or officials there.

From the looks of it they were even thanking them. I was shocked by how calm everything went from the principal even thanking us for our bravery on first responding to the incident. Felt like the club had more power than I thought.

Also Mom on the other hand tackled the ones outside that did collateral damage along the courtyard along with a robot that is made by NXGen Arms Corp. This is all going too well in the recent events.

I feel like I have to ask Mom about certain details later. Or I could ask Hailey and Sylve, I probably should since they're the ones who were here longer than us. They should know how this club works and how they got away with it.

Other than that I had a lot of work done in one day. Protecting students and Elizabeth from harm's way while getting her ready to fight in case I might be out of range when things get desperate.

I rested soon after with dinner left behind by Mom eaten already and dishes cleaned. Going to bed is the last thing I have to do after a long day.

The next day…

We were talking about what happened yesterday in the club so it was the appropriate time that I should bring up that question I had in mind yesterday. It was just interesting that no one actually made a fuss on what we did.

It was surreal that covering up a mess was that easy. Usually it's not easy to clean up a mess after a mission. Especially a terrorist attack? I've never seen such a clean up like this.

"I've been meaning to ask this since yesterday." I raised my hand.

"Yeah, what's on your mind Beatrix?" Asked Sylve.

"I was wondering why no one batted an eye out on our incident yesterday." I responded.

"Ah, I was waiting for someone to ask that in a long time. Here, let me tell you the details on why we weren't in any forms of trouble yesterday.

Number one, we are the Magic Research Club. Now you might be thinking. Wait, that doesn't make sense we're a Research Club. What does that connect to our situation?

Well for one is because we are the oldest and most influential club in all of Nero City. Also we've been kind of responsible on our own. Since the school itself sees us as an independent entity now that we're an official club once again.

Number two, actually the weapons we made weren't our design but it was our predecessor's designs leftover and it was our first project into making Magic weapons. We've basically perfected the design they left behind unfinished for over a year.

And actually the battle we had was its first shakedown. Surprisingly it went really well, thankfully that is." Hailey grinned a bit while explaining.

"I'm shocked that the weapons we used were untested products." Elizabeth was surprised.

"At least nothing too bad happened during our field test." Sylve replied.

"Let's get back to the topic: why was the incident glossed over? And like no one did anything to like, did the authorities do nothing in all of this?" I asked again.

"Well the authorities still have a responsibility to tackle the evidence that we all took down." Sylve replied.

"Exactly Sylve, despite our school having its own student moral's committee. We're basically a tier above them when it comes to deciding the fate of the culprit. That is if the problem sticks to the school.

The problem is that the enemies we've encountered were outsiders so we couldn't do anything in terms of knowing who might have been responsible for this until the authorities gave us details on what happened.

Despite the difference in power between us and everyone else. We don't exercise our powers that much only at times when it's really needed." Hailey responded.

"That's why it was wise for us to respond to a crisis that happened in the school. That is something beyond the morals committee could do on their own. You could even say we're basically a militia for the school in certain ways." Said Sylve handling the paperwork for today.

"I guess when things go really south and something happens beyond the control of the school members, we're not expecting any authorities coming as well. And that's where we play in while the authorities arrive." I clarified my thoughts.

"Quite close, but yes it is basically that at the end of the day." Hailey replied.

I guess that makes sense that they do hold a lot of influence all right. And that the club also becomes a second layer of defense when things go haywire at school which did have a history of incidents from what I've heard.

I'm impressed how they could handle such a complex task with just pure ingenuity.

"Well we wouldn't handle everyone out here without your FPS skills Bea." Hailey gives a thumbs up.

We enjoyed our afternoon after that… While we were pandering around eating some snacks and talking around, I noticed a group of students walking towards our club room's direction. Seems like Krome's gang is about to be shocked.

I prepared myself for the worst to come. But I overhear them saying things.

"Seems like we're gonna have an extension clubroom this time. Let's see if those Magic Research plebeians abandon their club." Muffled talking from Krome.

As they open the door to our club room just to be shocked that we're still inside.

"Impossible! You're still here?!" Shouted Krome as he was surprised by our presence.

"What are you shouting about Krome? Of course we're still here, it's OUR club room anyways." Sylve responded.

Krome and his associates recoiled a bit as we gave an intimidating stare towards them.

"You were expecting us to abandon the school after what happened yesterday?" I also responded to their bluff.

"We were supposed to get this club room after what happened yesterday. How did you guys manage to stay??" Krome retaliated.

"But we finally understood what our club means to this school. And we so gladly worked our hearts out to save it from yesterday's incident." Hailey stood up with confidence.

"You don't mean you did all of that?!" Krome replied.

"Pretty much, after all it's our responsibility as members of the Magic Research Club. And I'm not gonna be hiding anymore. Now that we're able to handle ourselves out there. There's nothing to fear now if we're up against you and your club." Hailey stood her ground.

Krome had nothing to reply to and they left with a very sour taste on their mouths. It is nice to show them a piece of our mind every once in a while. I mean to be honest I could have removed them from this school if I wanted to since I have free reign on this mission.

With no limits to what I wanna do and no need for permissions if I have to kill someone. This has been the most free I've been in a while.

"I was about to pass out after that." Hailey sits down a bit tired.

"Tell me about it. Then again we are your seniors and we wouldn't be good seniors if we let our juniors defend for us. I'd be a bit embarrassed to be honest with you." Sylve responded as she stroked the back of her head.

"Now that's over we can finally focus on actually doing club stuff." Elizabeth sighs a breath of relief after such a stressful day.

Never thought I would see them standing up for themselves this time. Last time we had a talk about the topic they were scared themselves to bring it up. I guess they had the time to realize what the club's purpose is for.

I thought that to myself while we continued on eating our treats and enjoying our club time. When someone entered the room.

"Hello there ladies. Enjoying some tea?" Surprise, surprise it was Claire.

"Oh, Miss Claire, what are you doing today here?" Asked Mia.

"I'm just here to happily announce that I'll be your new club advisor! Also I'll be telling you things about this club if you want to know how it came to be." Claire informed us as she entered the room with a smug face.

Seems like we're gonna have something to learn today. More things to keep in mind I guess. Since her movements yesterday were unusual at best she could be a great informant, at worst she could be a target against Elizabeth.

Let's not jump to conclusions until she speaks her mind out first.

Thanks for picking up the newest chapter of my book!
