Magic Types

After his meeting with the local engineer and blacksmith renowned in the countryside of Brahmut, Desser began discussions with Magi Cornelius about the Magic he used and saw during the Death Game.

"Cornelius, tell me more about combat magic. Also, what were those techniques that traitor used?"

Cornelius was surprised…He wondered how the prince could use Magic that he didn't understand. Initially, he thought that the prince's memories were returning during the Death Game. After all, a newborn cannot use Magic because they don't understand the fundamentals of Energy use. This is exponentially true for combat magic. Cornelius shuddered to imagine a baby using lethal Magic as soon as they opened their eyes. There would be an incalculable amount of carnage.

The old Magi didn't say anything because he believed it was providence from Brutreq. However, the old Aguila looked at Desser with more suspicion and respect. Even without understanding the fundamentals, Isla knew that many beasts were born with immense power. That was because beasts lived in a world where they would be food if they could not fight to survive. Powerless beasts were called pets and animals.

Beasts detested animals and pets; they'd killed them with impunity. Interestingly, many beasts could trace their lineage to the very thing they hate. Animals and pets can evolve as they learn to access Magic. This alters their DNA and creates different creatures.

Human DNA is not as easily altered by Magic. This phenomenon is not entirely understood. Some believe it is because of humans' developed brains, which does not allow Magic to alter reality. Example: humans know how to use hands but they can't accept a new reality where they have to use "fins" because of their altered DNA.

There may have been some cases that human DNA had changed a human's appearance to such a degree…but, in this world and much like Earth, they would be an outcast. These mutated humans might not even survive because they lack the knowledge to do so with their new traits.

Meanwhile, animals have primitive brains that can be moulded to their desires. Example: a frog that transforms into a prince… ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ

Regardless, Isla was not as surprised as Cornelius because the Aguila had seen such cases in her beastly domain. However, Isla was suspicious of Desser's power. Where did it originate? And how could he understand Magic usage without learning much about it?

To most beasts, power, strength, and authority were everything. Isla wanted to learn the secrets of the strange human. If she could learn it, she could pass on her power to her child. Currently, she is pregnant…

There are many reasons why Isla decided to have an offspring at such an old age. One of them is because the dark cloud of her mortality looms close. What's most important to her is securing her child's future. If she can't learn Desser's secret, she would make the prince owe her a favour and have him protect her child until adulthood.

Unknown to all except Isla is that the majestic bird killed her partner. Her offspring's father was a weak and caring man. In her domain, that was a liability. She could not entrust her offspring's wellbeing to a beast that could not protect itself and be saddened every time it had to kill to feed itself.

Isla agreed to carry his offspring because he was a griffon. Griffons are protected by the kingdom and are known for their powerful Magic. Griffons are not only revered in Mogar but all of Anthul.

Interestingly, griffons rarely leave Mogar. The ones who left Mogar, which no one really understands why they had, ended up destroying whole Kingdoms and Empires. Never had a Griffon destroyed Mogar because they would have been put down by the ruling Griffon before wreaking havoc.

Isla knew that having a half-griffon child would give it a greater fighting chance at becoming the Rule of the Sky like she is. That's why she looked at the prince with greater respect for resembling a beast more than a human. She got excited at the prospect of teaching her child's future babysitter.

Before Isla could speak, Cornelius replied to Desser's question:

"Your highness, I know the basics of combat magic which you and the traitor used. However, I'm no expert in combat or warfare. I recommend getting an instructor for that."

"That's fine. Explain what you do know, and I'll get an instructor later."

"Yes, my prince. During the battle, I saw you use hydro- and pyro-blast. There are essentially 6 kinds of Magic and then unique Magic that are a combination of the 6 Magic Types or something unexplainable.

"First, let me explain the simple things. You have 6 Magic Types:

1. Pyro- (Fire)

2. Hydro- (Water)

3. Geo- (Earth)

4. Aero- (Wind)

5. Sol- (Sun/Light)

6. Noc- (Moon/Dark)

"Although Sol and Noc are two kinds of general magic, they are rare. Not many people have an affinity for either of those. Sol- is the power to wield the sun's energy and amplify the strength of an attack with light. Meanwhile, Noc is the power to wield the moons' energy and weaken an opponent.

"Our god, Brutreq, is one that blesses us through the moons' power. The large moon protects the smaller moon like Brutreq protects its faithful followers. Few of our Mogarian Kings have had that blessing. Noc Energy has brought many to their knees; Mogarian Kings that have mastered it were even feared by the mainland.

"Now, there are kinds of magic that don't fall into these categories or a combination of them. One Magi could move objects with his mind. I have never seen it and only read such a case in our history book. No confirmed experiments successfully 'moved objects with one's mind' using combination magic.

"Beyond this, I recommend seeking a combat and warfare instructor to teach you more, my prince." Magi Cornelius concluded.

Isla flew in front of Desser's face to get his attention. "Strange one, I will bless you with my combat knowledge."
