"Okay, boys! Kazuya will be your PG in the second half. Keep up the pace—show your respect for your opponents by giving it your all!"
The second half began with renewed energy from Sekiro. Kazuya, stepping into the point guard role, immediately showcased his exceptional passing skills. His court vision was unparalleled, effortlessly weaving through the Kadooka defense with precision. The synergy between Kazuya and Akira became even more evident, as they executed a series of plays that left the Kadooka players scrambling.
Kazuya received the ball at the top of the key, eyes scanning the court. He spotted Akira making a sharp cut towards the basket. With a quick flick of his wrist, Kazuya delivered a perfectly timed bounce pass. Akira, catching the ball in stride, executed a flawless layup. The crowd, though subdued, could not help but appreciate the seamless connection between the two players.
As Kadooka struggled to adjust, Takeo seized the opportunity to assert his dominance. He drove towards the basket with a fierce determination, maneuvering past his defender with a series of quick, explosive dribbles. As Takeo approached the rim, he executed a mid range shot that sent a ripple of excitement through the Sekiro bench. His teammates erupted in cheers, their earlier concerns dissipating with the growing lead.
With the score widening, Kadooka's defense became increasingly frantic. They tried various defensive schemes, but Kazuya's passing and Akira's relentless attacking proved too much for them. Kazuya once again took control, this time pulling off a no-look pass to Takeo, who was cutting towards the basket. Takeo, catching the ball mid-air, completed another emphatic dunk, leaving the Kadooka defense helpless.
Amidst the chaos, Akira continued to shine. On one play, he intercepted a lazy pass from Kadooka's point guard. With a swift, decisive move, Akira drove down the court, evading two defenders. As he approached the basket, he faked a shot, drawing the defenders in before passing to Kazuya, who calmly sank a three-pointer. The scoreboard flashed another three points for Sekiro, further demoralizing Kadooka.
Kadooka's coach, visibly frustrated, called for a timeout. The team huddled around him, trying to regroup. From the Sekiro bench, Akira could hear snippets of the Kadooka coach's speech.
"Listen up, we need to tighten our defense. Play with more aggression—don't let them push us around!"
The timeout did little to change the momentum. As the game resumed, Akira took advantage of every opportunity. In one instance, Kadooka's shooting guard attempted a three-pointer from the corner. Akira, reading the play perfectly, leaped and blocked the shot. The ball ricocheted off the backboard, and Akira quickly recovered it, starting a fast break.
With the ball in his hands, Akira weaved through the Kadooka players, performing a series of dazzling dribbles that left defenders in his wake. He passed the ball to Kazuya, who was positioned beyond the arc. Kazuya, with a quick release, nailed another three-pointer, causing the Sekiro bench to erupt in celebration.
As the game neared its final minutes, Takeo showcased his driving skills once more. He powered through the Kadooka defense, bulldozing his way to the basket. As he went up for a layup, he was met with resistance from Kadooka's center. Undeterred, Takeo used his strength to muscle the ball in, drawing a foul in the process. The free throw that followed was good, adding another point to Sekiro's lead.
The Kadooka crowd, once lively, had fallen silent, their earlier cheers replaced by an uneasy quiet. The few remaining fans shifted uncomfortably in their seats, casting worried glances at the scoreboard. Each Sekiro play seemed to stretch the score further out of reach.
Back on the court, Akira was in the zone. He spotted Kazuya near the top of the key, who was being heavily guarded. Without hesitation, Akira made a sharp cut towards the basket, drawing defenders with him. Kazuya, recognizing the opportunity, delivered a high, arching pass over the defenders. Akira soared into the air, catching the pass and finishing with a magnificent reverse layup.
As the final buzzer approached, Sekiro's players were visibly enjoying themselves, exchanging high-fives and playful banter. Makito, still on the court, made a valiant attempt to score, trying to salvage some pride. He managed to get a clean look at a mid-range jumper, but Akira was right there, leaping and blocking the shot once again.
The game ended with Sekiro dominating Kadooka 128-42. The scoreboard reflected the one-sided nature of the match, and the Sekiro bench was alive with a sense of victory and camaraderie. Players patted each other on the back and congratulated Akira for his stellar performance.
The players went to greet each other at the end of the match, Makito with his head down extended his hand to Akira.
"Hey, you were the first player to call me into isolation when you were behind on the scoreboard. It was an extremely brave act. Congratulations."
Makito raises his head.
"Thank you... But it's no use if it ends the way it did."
"What is this conclusion? There are many games ahead, this was just a friendly, don't see it as the end of the world crybaby." Akira sticks out his tongue mocking Makito.
Makito smiles. "You're right." He grips Akira's hand tightly. "Next time you will pay dearly for this humiliation."
That's better. Players like him can't give up on a game like that.
Akira laughed. "Bring it on. I'm looking forward to it."
As the players left the court, the Sekiro bench was buzzing with excitement, their victory secured in a decisive manner. The final score and Akira's MVP performance were a testament to their dominance:
Sekiro 128 - 42 Kadooka
MVP: Akira Kingsley (72 points)
