I stared at the empty cup in front of me. My eyes were so leaden... They reflected back a sleepy violet color, slowly blinking away into the dream that was on its way...
The blue potion drink I made had a glittery wisp fading up and away to the ceiling in my kitchen, which was now spiraling. It was one of the best concoctions I've ever made…
My eyes rolled back and I fell out of my chair onto the soft tiled kitchen floor. I didn't care, I needed to know now. As I lay there, the clock silently clicked away the seconds going by…
The induced dream faded in slowly, like a twilight evening. I was walking down a path in the woods of a dense and misty forest. The surrounding leaves were as big as me, and the treetops, I could not even see. Something rushed past me, and I followed it.
We got to a clearing and I saw before my eyes a small pink, green, and purple furry thing. Its colors were so vibrant! The energy surrounding it was so beautiful. It said its name was Fira. I said nothing and sat down on the warm ground. It stared at me and then went away.
The dream faded away as if that was all I needed to know.
I woke up, sat up on the kitchen floor, and rubbed my head full of curly dark brown hair. There were sandy highlights streaked through. They glow and move around without wind. It's pretty neat!
People stare in this part of the world and sometimes I would wear a beanie to avoid questions. There weren't many mysticals around like me. Fira was kind of cute though. Reflecting back on the dream, I now knew what I had to do.
So I was troubled by these dizzy spells I would have. Sometimes all of a sudden, my mind would go blank. It was so severe that I was now depressed and scared because of it. This dream was the last key to the puzzle. I knew it was.
The dreams started around the same time my nails turned silver and slightly heavier, like cute metal slabs. I kept them slightly pointed. I looked at them and clicked them together. They rang a smooth, mid-tone pitch that was soothing.
I knew I was a Velcro being ever since I was a child, but these changes happened unexpectedly. I'm just a 19 year old college girl. I could not accept feeling this way. It's so weird and unsettling. I don't think this is supposed to even happen.
These dreams I had recently, seemed connected. Like they were sending a message and I had to do something, and fast. I took heed and tried some stuff out that I thought would help me.
One time, I almost fell off my bike in the street. I had to get off and really recollect myself. Someone saw me and offered exploding mint. It's a funny way to help with headaches. I so declined that.
I decided not to wait another night to figure out this mystery. I was super stressed and so I made a potion for to have a daydream. It definitely worked.
Yeah my parents told me a thing or two about who I was. Velcro beings were strong, smart, and good at crafting potions. I definitely shined on the potion making part.
We lived in Calicrow. Not too much happened here. We moved to Calicrow two years ago. I liked it. I met my best friend here. I haven't met other mysticals though, which was weird.
Where I was from, I could spot a mystical everywhere I went. Flying Trinities, shifting Gamis, and tunneling Jers were common there. Some mystic traits were inherited or learned. I don't know why we left. Tortor Town was pretty neat.
My classmates in college didn't seem to go through this. Like I said, this was a plain town. Everybody just seemed normal. My nails stood out and my hair. People would ask me where to get my nails from and I would just say they are customs.
So, I actually just started sophomore college classes to be a chemist, (typical for a Velcro), and since I was miles away at school, my parents went away too on their own trip. I quickly grabbed my phone and called Krea. She was my best friend. I managed not to destroy this phone so far after clumsily handling the last one. My nails cut off a corner and poked a hole in that one. It turned black and blue for minutes until glitching out into nothing.
"Hey Zi!" She sounded like she was munching on something.
"Hi Kre! I think I finally figured all of this crazy mess out!"
"OMG really? So what then?" There was more munching.
"Yeah um… let's just meet up, okay? Chew slowly now Kre, okay?" I said joking.
She bursted out laughing. "Oh… well see ya at the spot?" she said. I can tell she was smiling hard through whatever food she was eating viciously.
"Yeah." I said, twirling my hair with my finger while the strands were swirling along with me.
I got my bag and left.
When I arrived, Kre was already there sitting down. The grass on the ground had a soft green glow from the sun. The warmth from the sun felt good to me.
Cilias were flying around with four pairs of translucent wings on their tiny bodies. They glowed like a rainbow and were so beautiful. When I first discovered them here I thought, this town isn't so plain, huh. Cilias would disappear and reappear.
My parents told me a story about them when I was younger where on one of their trips, they found a clearing with hundreds of them. They all disappeared and reappeared in a beautiful symphony. It was the most magical thing I have ever heard. They gave me a stuffed animal of the Cilias insect. They are my favorite animals!
I opened my backpack, and pulled out a journal with flowers designed on it and cute doodles I drew. I flipped to a page and started reading what I wrote out loud. I pointed to each word as I spoke. The words glowed purple as I spoke each word-
"So when I add these ingredients together, the dreams will go away and things will fall into place."
I looked at Krea to see her reaction. I glanced at some of the notes I wrote in the corners. I didn't bother mentioning them.
"Well Zi… what ingredients?" She asked, wanting more. She pulled her knees together.
Krea knew what I was going through. She never heard of such a thing as a Velcro but thought my nails were pretty cool! As long as I didn't turn into an ugly monster and hurt her, I was A-OK! I met her in one of my classes at school. We became friends quickly. She liked my sense of humor and I liked her personality!
My parents were pretty vague about the things I would go through as a Velcro. These dreams I been having seem connected though. The one I had today was induced because I felt I was running out of time.
My mind started spinning. Krea rushed to me and helped me to sit down. I looked at her sluggishly and pointed to my bag. She went in one of the pockets and got out a pink vial, opened the top, and handed it to me.
Its fragrance had a sticky bitter sweet smell. The pink hue that was floating from the bottle dissipated like spider webs. I drank it and the spell went away. My friend looked at me strangely as if she saw something out of place.
"I'm tired of this Krea." I said.
"I know Zi." She still had a strange look about her.
