Chapter 137 Running

Land of Grass.

The land which had managed to avoid the fate of being used as a battlefield in the previous war didn't have the same luck, right after crossing the famous kannabi bridge on a large plain ground two huge armies battling each other.

Explosions rang throughout the battlefield, fire reaching towards the sky, smoke everywhere as the display of jutsu one after another continued to alter the landscape.

The two ninja armies fighting each other belonged to Iwagakure and Konohagakure, the latter resisting the invasion of the former, stopping them in the land of grass before they could enter the land of fire.

Currently the flow of the battle seemed to be completely under the control of Konohagakure forces, charging at the invaders with passion and harvesting lives with much more ease.

"WHAT'S TAKING THEM SO LONG!!!?" OUR WHOLE ARMY WILL BE ANNIHILATED IF THEY DON'T RETURN!"

Kitsuchi, the tall and brawny shinobi in his mid-twenties with a thick beard on his face punching a konoha shinobi away cursed out loud in anger, veins on his forehead from anger and panic in his eyes.

The Tsuchikage along with the jinchuriki's Roshi and Ran had gone to ambush konoha commanders who were lured away by them and with tsuchikage himself in the ambush lineup Kitsuchi had expected it to be a quick work.

After Onoki, Roshi and Ran he was the only one qualified to lead them in the battle so he did, the plan was that Kitsuchi would hold konoha forces for as long as possible and wait for their return and now the iwa forces have long reached their limit, in terms of total number of shinobi they were already behind

konoha and the only difference they could have made was from high end combat power.

Konoha had Orochimaru and ino-shika-cho causing wreck on the battlefield while he alone was not strong enough to turn the tables, he desperately wanted Onoki and others return now or iwa might not be able to withstand the consequences.

POOF!!

Just as Kitsuchi was praying for their return, right in the middle of the battlefield littered with blood and burnt flesh huge white smoke rose out of nowhere obviously taking the attention of Kitsuchi with many others.

The smoke gradually cleared away and the expressions of iwa forces only worsened, a huge red toad along with an equally tall slug with two figures familiar to most of the shinobi in the world standing on top of their head appeared.

"WHAT!!! DAMN WHY ARE THEY HERE!!!? WHAT HAPPENED TO TSUCHIKAGE SAMA AND OTHERS!!!?"

The appearance of Tsunade and Jiraiya may have only scared most of iwa shinobi but Kitsuchi who was aware of their secret plan seemed to have been hit by a huge shock, a look of disbelief and absolute devastation on his face.

Kitsuchi aside from showing disbelief at the appearance of sannin could do nothing else, his army getting swept away by the overwhelming force of konoha.

The battle near the kannabi bridge lasted nearly a whole day and the world saw a one sided slaughter like never before, aside from Kitsuchi with his one arm missing no one else able to cross the bridge and retreat back to land of earth.

On the battlefield with iwa corpses everywhere konoha shinobi had their worshipping eyes on sannin who stood atop their ninja summons in the middle of the battlefield, shouting slogans one after another in pure excitement.

"Should we head back to tanzaku town? I'm worried cause facing those three together… even he might end up suffering a lot…

Tsunade didn't seem to care one bit about the excited konoha shinobi as with a slightly worried look in her eyes turning to look at Jiraiya standing on top of gamabunta next to her, suggesting to go back.

"We don't really have to worry much about him… even if he can't win with his mastery of flying raijin no can stop him from leaving….

Jiraiya seemed a lot more confident than as without a shred of worry on his face he assured Tsunade, whose brows loosened a bit at his words.

"I see… no wonder Onoki or any jinchuriki didn't appear during the battle, tanzaku town was truly targeted to lure the commanders out… and he seems to have made an appearance to save you as well…

"Hn!"

Just from the little talk between Jiraiya and Tsunade, Orochimaru who was next to them deduced a lot of information as the other two sannin nodded to confirm his guess.

The konoha army after defeating the iwa forces didn't immediately took the route back home but returned to the base first, waiting for the orders from the village which they received next day, the news brought along with the orders shocking everyone.

The world which was expecting this war to last several years at least was hit by a truly unexpected news, on the same day both iwa and kumo forces forced to withdraw from the war, the reason behind Kumo's retreat still a mystery to most but the reason behind Iwa's retreat soon made public.

On the battlefield at land of grass, a one sided massacre occurred as only the commander Kitsuchi was able to escape from the battlefield at the cost of one arm but what shocked everyone most was just not this news.

The famous tanzaku town was attacked by tsuchikage along with the four tails and five tails jinchuriki mbut the blue storm of leaf, the fourth hokage appeared to deal with them and the result of the fight, both the jinchuriki's put to death by the hokage and Onoki seems to have barely escaped with his life.

For a while the whole ninja world was quiet at the strength displayed by the fourth hokage, Kazuki Aoyama, at the Mizukage, Tsuchikage, Raikage and Kazekage office urgent meeting's held to discuss about everything that happened.
