Glancing at the mirror, Lumielle looked at the garment that she had chosen. Evangeline had brought it from a maid's closet. It was short on her, revealing her ankles and the lace looked wilted. The hue was a deep blue but there was something dusty about it. The dress didn't look lavish, rather, Lumielle looked pathetic.
Good.
That was exactly what she needed.
"Eva, prepare a carriage, we're going to see the Emperor."
Sylvia's jaw dropped, "Princess we don't have an appointment or—"
Lumielle tilted her head back slightly, her gold eyes catching the light. It was a little past noon, which meant everyone would be rushing into the palace. The light hit the bruise upon her cheek, highlighting the deep purple hue. It was accentuated through makeup, thankfully, Eva hadn't asked any questions.
