Chapter 1The Forest

I can hear the clear strikes of whistling wings above me and their accompanied morning cries. I look upward towards the sky barely peeking forth against the dense green vegetation clouding my surroundings, maybe I'll spot it? Briefly, I swear it was red... red, red chest, can it be a wood pigeon? One from those books that Harry brings me? Ah, I wish that I can see them clearly at my next chance... The soft moss beneath my feet is almost prickly to the touch, I bet many plants, vines, and branches are halfway submerged in this living earth, clinging to these colossal trees, an embrace, a soft embrace of, I think the word was unity, unity... and life.

Ah, I almost want to get lost in these sounds, the creaking of branches, the songs of birds, and steps just beyond my sight. What else can I get to see within this bright green? I want to explore, I want to see what is to see before I return, I want this all to remain with me for the rest of my days to come. That sound, those steps, they're to my left I think, my pale white wings twitching in excitement, they are contrasting against my surroundings, aren't they?... Almost, like a painting, no, more than that. Aw, I should not get myself distracted, to the left, the sounds, the snapping of twigs against the soft earth. My heart is pounding against my chest, will I see something new this time?

Four legs ending in obsidian hooves, its fur a vibrant almost orange-brown, coating its form from top to bottom, and its head draped in a majestic crown of bones over deep amber eyes looking straight at me from across the clearing, bathing it in a golden glow, my chest, it feels so tight, who knew I would ever get to see something this beautiful? It is still here... it hasn't moved away or run off, no it has gotten closer, does it want me to approach? Can I, Can I touch it?

Its skin, so warm, almost pulsing through the prickles of the stiff fur grazing my hand and face, right by the chest it sounds against my ears, the pounding of a heart rhythmically pumping life, through its royal keeper. That face, those deep amber eyes, is it trying to tell me something? The head turns back towards the enclosure of trees, placing one of its hooves on the ground ahead.

"Do you want me to follow you?" The words, when was the last time I spoke to anything during these journeys? Anytime I had... but still, I swear.

"You can hear me, can't you?" Its long, wise face, it's turning towards me again brushing up against my chin. It's a response, it must be, my face, it's wet... my eyes they're stinging, and this clutch around my chest, it is making it hard to breathe. Those amber eyes, are you trying to comfort me? I must get it together, I don't know how much time I got left.

"L-lead the way."

The sight, the sounds, the smells, they're so vibrant, so alive. Every graze of fur, trees, or moss. Every gaze of woodland critters skittering between the green, colorful plants painting the ground with diverse visions. Every sweet floral scent, pungent odors, and fresh breaths... all of them. This crowned being, he's still by my side guiding me down a slim path between the trees, or, at least I think it's a "he". The ground in front has changed, it's no longer dominated by just moss and some flowers peaking forth, no, this I've seen it in some books too, its a heather of purple bells, draping almost every inch of the ground accompanied by a sweet scent almost overpowered by some grassy odor. Is there maybe a lake nearby? My feet grazing the bells have me almost jump, wings, purple and golden, flickering like the beats of my heart before my eyes reflecting the rays peeking through the seemingly endless branches, illuminating this heather so similarly to that clearing. This crowned one, is he showing me what I long for? How would... no, I should be grateful for these chances, to be able to bear witness to all of this.

He keeps stepping ahead through this heather in between endless trees, I must keep up. The earth, it is starting to arch upwards, a wall of stone and moss, and to the side a split. A split widening down the middle giving gaze within a pit of darkness. Something, this feeling, how can I place it? Why is the crowned one showing me this? And why...

That sound, that inhumane growling, no, I don't want to see this... the beginning of all of this. But he wants me to... The trees, they are folding in on themselves, the ground splitting opens plunging the earth into darkness, the darkness, but... those amber eyes are still here, looking back at me from across the abyss, the distance... it's getting wider, he still didn't finish.

"No, don't leave." He's swallowed by the nothingness.

Bright, ah its the lamp, illuminating the pages of the book on the edge of my pillow, the pages are slightly tattered, I should take better care of it... that crowned one, I wonder what he was? Will I find out in one of these books stacking the left wall of this dark wooden room, no windows, one lonely mattress, a plate with the scraps of yesterdays meal, the wooden tub in the right corner, and the door, heavy and dark, standing between me and the outside, but I know I can never leave, the world outside is dangerous and the one that I'm seeing... is one that no longer exists. My eyes, they're flooding again, why? What happened out there? Will I come to know?... For all my life, here I am, a winged creature behind this door, dreaming of a world that used to be.

When the certain darkness threatens to take Oriana away, will the Dragon be able to protect his mate? ----- Excerpt- “If I knew you were my betrothed, I would have killed you the very first moment we met." Arlan's gaze darkened with hatred. “If I knew I was betrothed to you, I would have killed myself before you even killed me!” Oriana mirrored the same emotions as him. He pulled out a dagger and offered it to her. “It’s not too late. Just slit your throat with this and you'll bleed out painlessly.” She accepted the knife, her fingers clutching its handle tightly. The next moment, he was pressed against the wall and the knife was on the right side of his neck. “How about I try it on you first, my betrothed?” “Feel free to try. But when you fail, this knife will first taste your grandpa's blood, then yours.” Anger rose in her eyes, and the next moment, blood was flowing through the right side of his neck. She cut deep enough to severe an important blood vessel. “You should not have challenged me,” she sneered and stepped back, waiting for him to collapse. He simply smirked and brushed his finger along the deep wound on his neck. “Seems like you failed.” She watched the wound on his neck heal on its own and felt shocked to her bones. “You.. what are you?” “Guess?” ----- Instagram- mynovel.20 Facebook- Author mynoveltwenty

Defy The Alpha(s)

Two centuries after the Great War, peace between humans and werewolves was finally achieved, or so everyone believes. Werewolves reign like gods, and humans remain blissfully unaware of their true place in the new world order. To maintain this fragile balance, each year, a handful of "lucky" humans are selected from various districts to attend Lunaris Academy, a prestigious institution that promises glory, status, and a chance to mingle with the elite. Those chosen are hailed as the lucky few, destined to marry powerful alphas and rise as luna. This year, Violet Purple is among the chosen, much to everyone's surprise. For an orphaned girl adopted by a disgraced prostitute, this is a golden ticket to a better life or so she's told. But Lunaris Academy isn’t the paradise it’s painted to be. Everything Violet and her fellow humans have been taught is a lie. Humans are far from equal; they're pawns in a much larger game. The academy is nothing but a gilded cage, and the students are lambs led to slaughter, playthings for the alphas to toy with in their ruthless games. To make matters worse, Violet catches the attention of the most dangerous players in this game, the Terror Four: the Alpha of the North, Alpha of the South, Alpha of the East, and Alpha of the West. Each one is more dangerous, more twisted, and more powerful than the last. But even among themselves, the alphas are divided, each with their own deadly ambitions. Yet, they all have their eyes on her. They expect Violet to play along, to fall in line like the others who worship at their feet, to break under their games. But Violet isn’t like the others. She refuses to bow. She’ll defy them all. *********** With a grin that made her uneasy, he handed the application to her. “Approve this one.” Principal Jameson’s curiosity got the better of her as she took the paper from him, her eyes scanning the text. Almost immediately, her breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening in disbelief. “What the...?” “It’s perfect, isn’t it?” Asher’s voice was almost gleeful. Fucking psychopath! Jameson could hardly believe what she was reading. “Mr. Nightshade, with all due respect, this applicant….this girl just admitted to—” She couldn’t even finish the sentence, still horrified at the explicit nature of the application. Taking a deep breath, she continued, “I’m sorry, but I cannot approve this.” “She’s issued me a challenge,” Archer said, a dark gleam in his eyes. “What?” “‘Wait till you see me in bed,’” he repeated the bold line from the application, his grin widening. “And I can’t wait to find out.” “Mr. Nightshade—” He stood up, cutting off her protest as he fixed her with an intense stare. “Approve the application. I won’t ask again.” Without waiting for her response, Asher strode out of the office, confident she would follow his orders. He always got what he wanted. Archer Nightshade walked down the hall, a spring in his step. For the first time in a long while, he felt alive, his blood pulsing with excitement. The other Cardinal Alphas had no idea what he was up to, but it would soon hit them. He’d just set the game in motion. And the target was Violet Purple. It was game on. Note : This is not your average werewolf story. Eveything you think you know about werewolves would be challenged in this book. And yes, it is reverse harem. Do give the book a try.

Hades' Cursed Luna

In a world where Lycans and werewolves are sworn enemies, Eve Valmont is a werewolf cursed by a prophecy and framed. Betrayed by her own pack and imprisoned for years, her fate takes a darker twist when she is offered to the Lycan King, Hades Stavros—a ruler feared for his ruthless conquests and deadly prowess. Bound by an ancient prophecy and haunted by the ghosts of her past, Eve is now at the mercy of the one being she should hate and fear the most—The Hand of Death himself. Hades, a king carved from blood and his own soul's decay, determined to avenge his family's slaughter and rid his people of the werewolves. He believes Eve is the key to his victory. To him, she is nothing but weapon foretold by prophecy, a tool he will wield to destroy the opposing forces threatening his pack. Yet, he finds himself craving this powerful yet broken woman. Leaving him questioning if she is truly his weapon or the one destined to unravel his carefully laid plans. *** He stalked toward me, a predator closing in on its prey, his eyes dark and unreadable. "So, you laugh?" His voice was low, dangerously soft, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I swallowed hard, suddenly aware of how difficult it had become to breathe. "Hades, I—" "But you only laugh at other men's jokes," he interrupted, his gaze piercing, devoid of any humor. "Not your husband's." The accusation in his tone was sharp, slicing through the air between us. A nervous chuckle escaped me. "You can't be serious... He’s your beta, for Goddess’ sake." In an instant, he closed the distance between us, so fast it left me breathless. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me flush against his body, the heat of him making my skin tingle. I gasped, but before I could say a word, his lips crashed onto mine, claiming my mouth with a force that sent shockwaves through me. The kiss was punishing, hungry—I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. When he finally pulled back, I was trembling, my chest heaving as I struggled to regain my breath. His eyes, dark and stormy, searched mine with a possessive intensity. "You can’t laugh at my jokes..." he whispered, his voice a dangerous rasp as his fingers trailed lower, sending a shiver down my spine, "but you’ll come with my fingers." I shivered, heat pooling low in my belly at his words, his touch. The world around us blurred, fading into nothing as his hand slipped lower, drawing a ragged gasp from my lips. The look in his eyes told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me, and there was no denying the primal connection between us in that moment. "I don’t need your laughter," he murmured against my skin, his breath hot on my neck. "I’ll have every other part of you instead." **** Dark fantasy romance Morally Grey ML Angst Suspense ENEMIES to lovers Smut (like sprinkles on your ice cream)

This will be an honest review. Even though this novel is quite good, and I would recommend it to writers and readers alike, it fails, in my opinion, as a web novel. Some might ask: Why does it still get such a high review? Because when I look at the writing quality and the World Background alone, this book is unrivaled. The author uses a variety of vocabulary and describes scenes vividly. As many people already pointed out, this book is for people that want to read something of quality (and I wouldn't recommend it to my 12-year-old brother or anyone that wants to read a harem/cultivator/system novel reader. They would be overwhelmed). But there also lies the problem. A reader that wants to read something of quality normally doesn't read a webnovel… They'll grab one of Stephen king's books or read The Lord of the Rings. Web novels are known for the fact they're easy to read for anyone that knows English even if they aren't well versed. But this novel has a high entry point, to be honest. The use of a variety of vocabulary, and phrases that can be as long as an entire paragraph, makes it difficult for some readers who are not proficient in English to read the text. Combine the things I said earlier with the fact that some paragraphs are way too big, and one can easily get a headache from reading it. (This can be easily solved in spacing the sentences and shorting some of the paragraphs) As an author, this book is one of the few books I will be using as a guide to improve the quality of my chapters. XD Only time will tell if there is a niche for readers of such kinds of web novels, and I hope it will succeed.
