Kara Cahill (The White Wolf)

She had to keep her true identity hidden and trust only a few people. But some secrets are always meant to be revealed, some fates are not meant to be changed. Can Kara Cahill accept her fate and let the prophecy run its course? ■■■ Out of the woods, wolves emerged, snarling and growling. Kara sighed. "Without knowing who I am, she made this move. I wonder how it would be if she knew who I truly was." She whispered to Klaus and stepped out. The snarling wolves' sound covered whatever she was saying so she couldn't be heard.. "You will not treat me like a fragile glass." He nodded but grabbed her hand first and said, "I've seen what you can do. Changing into a wolf partly. You will teach me when this is over." Nodding she replied. "Okay. But you'll tell me about anybody who is a somebody in the pack and out." "Deal, now let's kick some wolf butts." He grinned and they were back-to-back. The first wolf attacked and Kara slammed her arm into its jaw. It bite her and drew blood. "No more nice new girl." Her eyes flashed white for a second and she attacked. Her speed could not be matched and the onlookers couldnt look away. She slammed jaws and her nails left marks on the faces of some of the wolves. She was a sight on the field. Careful not to kill anyone, Kara pushed the last person the the ground and stood snarling. Klaus howled and patted her on the back. "Mad skills you got." His smile was wide as his eyes twinkled. Mara clapped dramatically and narrowed her yes at Kara. She sneered. "I agree, you can move... against amateurs."

Reginald’s death

Her ears perked up at the sound of a branch breaking. Reginald heard it too. He placed his right palm on the floor and water from the river bent to his will. Moving like roots, they entered the forest at a fast speed. He raised his left palm and a ball of water hovered before them.

They could see the places the roots went. The forest was too still. The crickets were no where to be found. They saw nothing out of place, yet everything felt wrong.

"If we are attacked right now, I want you to jump into the water." He said, his voice low and his tone agitated.

Kara placed her palm on his arm. "First of all, I can't swim. Second, who is attacking us?" She whispered.

"That is the problem, I can't sense the who. Which means they have found you. I guess this will be our farewell." He said hurriedly and grabbed her palms in his. He knew it in his heart, the time he had always known had come. "I thought I still had time but the shadow prince will do the rest."

"Shadow prince? What are you talking about?" She couldn't control the fear in her heart and the worry in her tone. Kara looked away from him, her body staying alert as she scanned their surrounding.

"Do you know why Hera can blood bend?" He didn't wait for her to answer, he continued speaking hurriedly. "There is water in the body, she can sense it and manipulate it with the blood. If you search well, there is no where you won't find water. It is a Deville's great asset. Water sides with a Deville and you are one. Water is everything yet sometimes undervalued, a Deville doesn't forget that. You are one with the water, you will find peace with it."

"Slow down, stop speaking as though we can't take them on."

His eyes turned white and his head flung to the back. "One you've chosen. One will come to you. One is like a sword by your side. One is you and yet, isn't. One has and will always be yours." He whispered yet his voice was so clear.

Kara shook her hand in his. "What are you talking about? Shouldn't we be trying to protect ourselves if we are going to be attacked?"

"Hera and Kara Deville, I give to you that which is yours. We are one, in life and in death. The last of the Devilles, one's fate changed and the other unwritten." A tear slipped from his eye. "You are never alone, dear niece of mine... Tell my sister we shall meet again in another time."

Kara could have sworn she saw people standing behind him with their hands linked, all in white clothes and white hair. They were translucent.

"Regi... I think they are here. Let go." She pulled and tried to ignore the heaviness in her heart. Something was going to happen.

It was as though he couldn't hear her but his grip on her tightened. He said somethings she didn't understand, all she felt was pain moving through her body. Pictures moving fast over her vision, like a movie on rewind.

Her body unconsciously tried to pull away but he wouldn't let go. She felt like her heart was going to explode. She felt happiness, sadness, anger, hurt... like a thousand needles puncturing her head and eyes. She tried to scream but it was stuck in her throat.

It stopped. Everything stopped all of a sudden.

Gasping, Kara scooted away from him, clutching her head. Her vision blurring in and out. Reginald looked pale.

"What... what have you... what did you do?" She wheezed.

She released a yelp as something pulled her leg and dragged her into the river. For a moment, her head was still above water.

She tried to scream for him but stopped when she saw the people behind him. They were different, black. Reginald stood up weakly and raised his hand in her direction. A wall of water was rising but it was too late. She saw the spear come out through his chest. She saw the blade go through his neck. She saw his head fall and his knees drop to the ground.

~~~~
It was raining nonstop. Anastasia knew what was coming and it took everything in her not to rush out. She screamed and threw things on the floor in frustration. She couldn't take it anymore.
She ran out of her little house into the forest that linked her to the school. It was too risky, Reginald had told her. She wasn't supposed to live so close to the school but it was the only way her heart would ease a little. She'd been good. Even though it hurt, she hadn't tried to sneak a peak at her daughter.
She wasn't going to let the dance of the rain be the last time she would see her brother. She didn't care. She was going to go against fate and damn it all. She would tell Reginald she didn't care. She would make him let her stay. Make him hug her and let her protect both of them.
She was sick and tired of waiting. She should have done something a long time ago. It had hurt to watch her own die, she wasn't going to let that happen again.
Anastasia ran through the forest, the water had stopped moving for her. She almost cursed Regi. Had he read her mind ? Did he know she was coming? She got to the other side of the river close to the school and saw her brother. She almost smiled as she saw him raise his hand and heard screaming. She finally noticed that he wasn't alone.
She felt it. The spear that pierced his heart pierced hers. At the back of her mind, she knew Kara felt it too. Even with the pain in her body, she couldn't avert her eyes from her brother's head rolling off. His body falling to the ground. She was paralyzed.
~~~~

Kara screamed. It felt as though the spear had gone through her. It hurt. It hurt. Her mind kept screaming. She wrapped her arms around herself and curled her body. She felt like her head was trying to stay still on her neck but also felt like falling.

She kept seeing it. Regi being stabbed. As if it hadn't been okay for them, they had slit his throat while staring at her. As if to say, "you are next". As if to tell her "you can run and hide but we'll find you".

She was suffocating, she couldn't breath. She felt cold. The pain was excruciating, like she was being speared and slit over and over again.

"Somebody. Anybody. Save me."

She could feel the pain. The loss. It was as though her heart was being ripped from her chest. As though a heavy weight was on her body, stopping her from moving.

She wasn't just seeing Reginald, she was seeing the people in white clothes. Fire. They were burning. Men.... Women... Children. They were screaming for help but she knew in her heart, no one was coming. The earth rose and stood around them like a wall. A prison. They were trapped. Trapped and feeling each other's pain. Feeling every single death that occurred. Men... women... children. Kara could only watch as she writhed in pain at every passing. Every life being snuffed out.

"Make it stop. Make it stop."

She tried to scream but she could not. They were coming for her also. They would kill her. They wouldn't stop until they had control of everything. Until there was none.

Every face turned to her. Dead and not. They were speaking. They were telling her something. Kara tried to recoil from them but they seemed to advance to her. Hands linked, they surrounded her. The one closest to her touched her.

"Save us. Save us. Save us..."

They kept chanting. The smell of smoke was disappearing. Like white lightbulbs that went off, each person seemed to disappear. All except one. She turned to her and stared at her with her blood stained white. She looked sad.

"Hera." Kara whispered, tears pooling from her eyes.

It hurt. Being betrayed. She knew. She could feel it.

"Kara."

Black. Pitch black.
