Just To Meet You

*COMPLETED* "If you don't believe me, then follow the family rules." Her eyes closed as she faced her fiancé's accusations and distrust. She inwardly convinced herself. 'This is the last time I'm giving my heart to you, Peter. If you choose her, then we are over.' With a blade in his hand, he charged forward. He watched as the sharp tip of the weapon meets her soft, porcelain chest. Shocked by her unmoving body, he pulled the blade away from the broken skin. Her white top was dyed scarlet while the blade had already dropped to the floor, making a "clang" sound. "Why didn't you dodge?!" Peter Sin attempted few steps forward to apply pressure on her wound. It hurt, but she held in her cries. Blood squirted to his sleeve and shirt when he forced the blade out of her wound. Holding the bloody mess near her heart, a broken smile cracked on her face as she retreated away from the man in front of her. "At the end, you still chose her words over mine. You've never believed in me, but it doesn't matter anymore. Let's break up. Even if we pass by each other in the future, we'll be nothing but strangers." He tried approaching her again, but failed as she strode backwards in larger steps than before. "Mister Sin, goodbye." "Selina!" He screamed, but held back from chasing after her lonesome figure. His heart was a mess as he fell onto the ground and stared at the blood stain on his clothes. __________________ Selina Gu drove straight home where she had prepared herself to announce her failed engagement to her mother, Katrina Gu. Pressing her wound, she slowly leaned against the wall to bring herself to the living room where her mom's voice echoed loudly. Selina: "So, all my life..I've been nothing but a chess piece. Are you done with your game?" Katrina: "...Daughter." Selina: "Daughter? Do you know how many years and efforts I've wanted to hear you call me daughter? But all this is fake. Just an act. I've always convinced myself I'm the one who could do better because I wanted to hear a compliment from you. But you? You've forced me to the edge and suffocated me!" _____________________ Katrina: "It's mother's fault! Don't jump. I'm begging you!" Bryan (Selina's brother): "Did you get bullied? Brother will protect you. Please, come back down! It's dangerous to stand at the edge! You don't know how to swim!" "I don't want to play this game anymore. I'm tired of my life. Didn't you want revenge? I'll complete it for you. Sorry, brother." Selina fell forward with her eyes closed. She didn't struggle as she desired to forget everything. ___________________ Assistant: "Mister Hui, after multiple investigations, we have confirmed that the girl you have been searching for is Selina Gu." _________________ Awakening from her coma after a month later, Selina woke up hearing a familiar voice by her side. Although she couldn't recognize him, her instincts told her he wasn't going to harm her. "Selina! You're awake!" Jason Hui tossed his laptop to the table, ditching the video meeting he was in and hugged her. "Does it hurt anywhere? Are you thirsty? Hungry? I'll go get a doctor!" He spat out countless questions, confusing her greatly. ________________ Jason held her hands, "It's okay if you don't remember me. As long as I remember our promise, that's all it matters. I won't let anyone hurt you anymore." _________________ "Jason Hui!" "Wife, if you're not happy about something you just have to say it. No need to shout. You'll get a sore throat." Selina pointed to the rubber band on the counter, "I forgot to tie my hair, but my hands are dirty from marinating meat. Do you know how to tie girl's hair?" A minute later, a messy ponytail was created and Selina looked at him with a speechless expression. Noting to himself on his calendar, he typed, "Learn how to do wife's hair." Pregnancy Bells 3

"It's me. If you wanted something, you could've told me about it and I would've gotten it for you." Isaac's chest throbbed when he saw her pale lips and porcelain skin - opposite of her healthy peach-colored cheeks.

"Why are you here? Weren't you tired of coaxing me already? You can leave. I can be alone and might want to remain alone too. You can go and do whatever the heck you wanted to do. No need to come tell me anything because I'm a nobody to you."

She leaned back on her pillow and pulled the blanket above her stomach. Her hands left her lower abdomen immediately. 'Did he already find out about my pregnancy? Is that why he is here?' She thought to herself while observing the man in front of her.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Kyla. I really am. I really don't know what to say at the moment besides apologizing for everything I said to you earlier. I'm sorry for leaving you alone when you needed me there. I'm sorry for neglecting your calls and not replying to your messages too. If I knew we only would have such little time left together, I wouldn't have cared about anything but you." As he spoke, the tension in the room rose.

His eyes turned pink, but tears didn't fall from his eyes. Kyla frowned at the sight of his vulnerable side. She continued analyzing the current situation. 'Really? Just because I am going to give birth in less than eight months, he is exaggerating as if I'm going to die or something. Did he feel that lonely that he can't stand me being pregnant? In less than eight months, he will get only half as much attention from me because of our newborn baby. Tch, crying for such a small reason.'

Rubbing the tips of her fingers consecutively, Kyla replied. "What's the use of crying over what already happened? It was bound to happen sooner or later. This only happened sooner than expected. Everyone has to prepare for this some time in their life. Since everything is the way it is now, we can only prepare for what is coming."

A helpless smile appeared on her face as she gently pressed her palms against her stomach. "You know, I imagined having my wedding while wearing my beautiful white gown. I imagined walking down an aisle in that tight dress that accentuates my curves well. I wanted to become the prettiest bride but it seems like I have to reconsider everything. It was unexpected and maybe there won't be a wedding this year after all."

Isaac grabbed her hands tightly. "Don't say that. If you want a wedding, we can change the date to an upcoming one. You can still walk down in that tight dress. You can have everything you wish for, and I'll fulfill every request to make you happy. I promise."

"You also promised to treat me well, but your words are the same as rotten cabbages. You just told me you are tired of coaxing me, so why would I trust your words? Plus you're doing all this not because it is for us. Even if I could wear that dress, I can't wear those heels anymore." Kyla remembered the words he said during his proposal and shook her head in disappointment.

Isaac bit his lip, realizing he needed to expose his intentions before the misunderstanding between them deepens further. "I'll tell you everything. If you need proof, I also have a witness. I'll tell you where I was for the past weeks."

Kyla parted her lips to respond to his words, but the moment she tried speaking, nausea struck again. She felt her stomach stirring as if she wanted to puke again. Quickly grabbing a tissue, she covered her mouth and closed her eyes to wait for the feeling to pass.

"Kyla! What's wrong?" He stood up and rubbed her back until she looked better. Once she appeared more comfortable compared to before, he poured a glass of water for her to consume.

"I'm fine. I've been through worse in the past weeks. This is nothing compared to how I felt before. Since you mentioned explaining what happened to you, I'll give you a chance to say what you have to say. It better be a good reason or else I won't forgive you." Kyla took sips from the glass in her hand.

"Let me make a phone call first. I need to have the witness here or else my explanation would be useless." Isaac pulled out his phone and dialed one of the contacts. Within minutes, he finished the call and informed Kyla about the visiting guest.

Around half an hour later, two bodyguards followed an elderly man with a cane into the hospital. The elderly man held a red jewelry box against his chest, treating it as a treasure. His gray hair was combed neatly, covering certain bald spots on his shiny head. His eyelids drooped, looking as if his eyes were partly closed even though they were opened. His thin pink lips looked slightly dried from the weather outside. Slowly, he walked towards room 708.

In a hunched position, the man raised his palm to stop the bodyguards from knocking on the white door in front of him. He rolled his hand into a light fist and knocked the back of his hand against the cold surface twice - a gentle yet soundly knock.

Seeing the bodyguard's confused expression, he explained. "You knock too loud. You might startle Isaac and his wife. What if she gets a heart attack from your violent knocks?" The bodyguard nodded and stepped behind the elderly.

The door creaked open in the following second. Isaac held the door opened and invited the elderly into the room. Seeing an unexpected guest, Kyla sat up from the bed and offered him a seat. Of all the possible witnesses Kyla thought about, she never thought the witness would be an elder. "Isaac, bring him a seat. Mister, have a seat."
