Idea number two

So I love reading stories about crazy or mentally unstable characters, but haven't quite mastered how to write them, so here is an idea for if you like them as well.

So a girl grows up and can read people's minds, no one realizes she was born with this power and she thought it was perfectly normal untill she was about five and could speak properly. After telling her parents that she doesn't want to go to crowded places because the voices in her head are too loud, they take her to a psychiatrist who concludes that she is crazy for hearing voices in her head. Her parents send her to a mental hospital, but after breaking out because she didn't like it there, they sent her to a top security mental hospital where she was confined for ten years. In these ten years she slowly but surely developed a mentality of a crazy person, who wouldn't when you grew up surrounded by them and was treated like one and realized that in order for her to escape, she had to pretend to become normal or 'cured.'

She is realeased at age fifteen and is taken back to live with her parents and was still to be supervised for any 'relapse.' She can still read pleople's thoughts or more acurately, she can hear their thoughts, but she still struggles to focus in crowded areas. She is homeschooled for a while to give her parents time to moniter her and in her spare time she decided to game on a computer. So she joins the gaming community and everyone is gobsmacked by her skills that she practiced in the mental hospital. It was a way to test weather the patient can communicate with others without any problems and no one could get hurt so it was a perfectly safe test.

She becomes a living legend online, but refuses to show her face and later she starts having to go to normal school. Now she can control her mind reading and she is as good as a pro gamer and as she grows and practices, she developes her power as well. Something like getting flashes of thoughts through the internet by looking at a game character through a screen and accidentally stealing a monster from The top player and succesfully getting away with it.

The rest is up to you, how she will do in school and relationships with friends, her family and potentially enemies. Will it be safe for her to enter the top team when others find out about her ten years in a mental hospital and is she allowed to enter the national competition when she is still labeled as mentally unstable? Will her personality be cold, calculating and cool or a happy-go-lucky troublemaker that often uses her mentally ill cover to escape blame?
