Chapter 28

Putting a smile on my face, I squatted down to Riley's level. "Hey, Ri-Ri" I said softly. She smiled and wrapped her small arms around my waist. I couldn't stop the tears that poured out of my eyes. Instantly, my happy tears turned into sad and mournful tears.

"Why is Bell crying?" Riley asked as she wiped away my tears. "You shouldn't cry. My mommy says that big girls never cry" she told me.

Her words only cause more tears to come to my eyes. I sucked in a huge breath and wiped my face. "Riley, can I talk to you for a moment?" I asked softly. The sooner I tell her, the better. Right?

She nodded. "Can David come with me?" she asked sweetly. I looked at David who shrugged. Gnawing at my lip, I nodded in agreement. Riley smiled and ran up to David. He easily caught her and we walked off to a random room.
