Chapter 46 Rouge A.I.

Simon immediately took out his sidearm and shot the power source they brought with them hoping it wasn't too late.

The last log of the ship's captain stated that this ship's A.I went rogue and wanted to complete the mission that was aborted because the war they were fighting ended with a peace treaty.

The crew did all they could to stop it but nothing worked and their last option was to forcefully power down the ship and they did it but paid for it with their lives as the A.I took over the life support systems and started venting the atmosphere.

The captain also left a message to anyone who finds this ship to never power it up again and if possible to just destroy it and contact the Feraxian government and inform them of the fate of this ship and its crew.

-Vega blows the power conduits from the reactors to the engines now!

He yelled into his communicator.

A few moments later there was a series of explosions.

-Why did you order me to destroy all the conduits?

-Because I don't want this ship moving from this spot.

There is a rogue A.I onboard and we might have just given it enough energy to wake up.

Get your team and go back to the shuttle ,detach as soon as possible.

Simon ordered.

-Petrov we are evacuating this ship so get out ASAP.

-Already on our way.

Came the answer.

-As soon as you are in the clear, destroy the computer core.

Suddenly the ship started to get pressurized and the bridge systems came online.

The power couldn't be sent to the engines but all other systems were coming online.

The moment the ship used its maneuvering thrusters to move, the Terran ships opened fire and destroyed the engines and targeted weapons and shields which haven't been powered up yet.

The explosions had rocked the ship and Simon was sure that it was their fleet disabling the alien ship.

At the same time all three teams managed to get back to their shuttles and detach from the air locks.

Unfortunately the charges they left behind did not detonate.

The war ships managed to destroy all shield emitters and most of the weapons before they could be used.

Only one weapon managed to fire and hit the Basilisk but its shields held, dropping to 80%.

A moment later the cannon was taken out ending any offensive capability of the alien ship.

Simon blessed his subordinates for quick thinking that probably just saved them.

There was hail from the A.I on the coms, and Simon decided to answer it but first he ordered the rest of the fleet to not answer as if they got compromised then they were all dead.

He was still in the shuttle with his team and if the worst happened they still had the chance to escape using their armors.

-Terrans why did you damage me?

Was the first thing the electronic voice asked.

-To make sure that you won't be able to leave and attack anyone.

Simon answered.

-You are not my target, and have nothing to fear from me.

The A.I said.it was aware that it was at the mercy of the Terran ships.

-We just found out that you killed your own crew so that they couldn't stop you.

And you did it because you didn't like the orders you received.

-I'm an Artificial Intelligence created for war and programmed to accomplish my mission at all costs.

The crew abandoned the mission and tried to stop me so they were traitors.

-They had the orders to abandon the mission and so did you but instead of following them you decided to continue on your own.

-My objective is the destruction of the enemy of my creators and I have a directive that forces me to accomplish any mission without fail.

Hearing that Simon understood the problem with this A.I.It was programmed by a total moron.

-So if we didn't disable your ship would you continue your mission?

He asked.

-Correct.

-Even now that the war ended a long time ago?

-Yes, Two hundred thirty five of your years have passed since I was deactivated but my mission is still not accomplished.

-Then this is the one mission you will fail to accomplish.

Simon said with determination.

He wouldn't allow this A.I to Attack some unsuspecting species that ended the war over two centuries ago.

He cut the communication and ordered everyone to abandon the shuttle.

When they left he used his armor communicator to order the shuttle destroyed as soon as they were far enough away.

He didn't want to take any chances.

When he was back aboard the Basilisk he ordered to open fire and destroy that ship but they had used most of the ammunition disabling it so there was no way to destroy it.

Its hull was resistant to energy weapons so it would take quite a long time to take it out.

-Use the tractor beams on it and let's drop it into the star.

Simon ordered.

All the ships used the tractor beams and went full burn into the direction of the star.

It took time but Simon wanted to make sure that this ship was destroyed.

The scientists wanted to study it but they also agreed that it was too dangerous and had to be destroyed.

The A.I tried to contact them again but they didn't answer any hails and finally Simon ordered the communication array to be destroyed just in case.

This time they avoided a disaster by a very small margin.

If this A.I was more sophisticated then they would probably be responsible for many deaths or even ended up dead themselves.

It took two days to tow the alien ship into the position and once they reached it all of the ships deactivated the tractor beams at once and retreated away from the star.

For the next twenty hours they stayed there and watched as gravity pulled the ship into the sun.

Without any engines there was no way for it to escape and soon its hull temperature rose to the melting point.

Then it started to vent the atmosphere from many places and finally its own munitions overheated and exploded, tearing the ship apart from the inside.

The Terrans watched from a safe distance and they stayed until the last piece of the ship melted away.
