Chapter 6- Cursed Womb~1!

[July 25th]

A curse womb appeared at the detention center, some hours ago. Due to the lack of manpower and also, considering the matter as a case of emergency, three students were assigned to the mission.

The sky was dark, mostly because of the curtain Ijichi drew to keep the residents away from the center and allow the sorcerers to do their work in peace.

Their job is to locate the five remaining convicts inside the building and bring them back. Considering the possibility of the curse inside to be Special-grade, it was strictly advised to not engage in battle at any cost.

Mostly a sorcerer is assigned according to their ranks, but this was an emergency...or so everyone thought.

"The weather looks grim," Itadori commented as the trio made their way down the lobby, to head toward the main building.

"It's the veil." Megumi's vague answer was met by a tilt of the head from the pinkette. Thankfully, Nobara knew enough to detail Yuji about a Curtain.

Meanwhile, Megumi brought his palms together and summoned his Shikigami out to track down the target.

"Ahha...fluff dog...!" Itadori jumped toward the wolf before he began petting with a broad smile. The same could be said for Nobara who seemed rather fond of cute things.

Megumi didn't say anything and just commanded, "Lead."

*Woof*

The Shikigami jumped into action and after abandoning Itadori, it began marching inside the center with small strides to not lose track of the people behind it.

The inside of the detention center was the same as how he predicted but surely, the other two panicked once they saw there was no exit left from where they came.

"What should we do? What should we do?" Their festival dance was brought to hold as Megumi assured the duo.

"We can track back the exit later. Let's get moving for now." Megumi relayed the words, which seemed more like a command before he began walking forward.

Nobara frowned before she shouted, "Who the fuck made you the captain?!"

Whether it was because Megumi seemed a little less approachable these days or because Nobara was jealous of his skill to summon such cute puppies, she vented her frustration.

Megumi halted and turned to look at the girl, who was not much behind him, and stared back at Megumi with an expression that shouted, 'Bite me if you can!'

Megumi sighed at the childish display and gestured for the lady to advance first.

"That's more like it!" Nobara huffed before she began walking along with the Shikigami.

Megumi also began to walk, with Itadori on his right.

"Hey....you good?"

Hearing Itadori's voice, which was lacking its usual cheerfulness made Megumi raise his brows before he turned to look at the pink head.

There was evident concern in Yuji's eyes which allowed Megumi to realize his mistake.

He was being a little too out of character.

Megumi forgot that the OG Fushiguro wasn't this anti-social and sometimes commented on matters casually as well. However, the new Megumi preferred to remain silent as much as he could.

Regardless, he didn't make Itadori grow any more worried as he assured, "I am fine...just a little headache. I will be alright once I have some strong caffeine."

Itadori blinked; confusion evident on his face. It wasn't that he didn't understand what his friend just said, but Yuji wasn't able to discern why Megumi was lying.

'...I guess he is also disturbed after what happened outside.' Remembering the face of that crying lady, whose son was trapped inside, Yuji clenched his fist with raw determination flaring in his eyes.

He sure is gonna make sure that everyone returns from here, alive and safe...

....or so he thought.

"There are three people here...I guess the curse womb matured and now the curse spirit is on the run."

As Megumi expected, the people here had already died and the person named 'Tadashi' was also lying dead there.

The pool of blood around the people had already frozen around the spot which meant the murder had transpired some minutes ago.

Regardless, Megumi remained vigilant of his surroundings as he sensed a strong presence not so far away from them.

However, before tailing the Curse, Megumi needed to do something else,

"Stay on your toes and look out for a surprise attack. "

Megumi already summoned his Toad Shikigami just in case. And as he thought,

"Ah!" Nobara exclaimed as she found her body falling into the darkness without her body being able to move much.

[Grrrr!]

The toad croaked before it extended its slimy long tongue and wrapped it around Nobara. Not so long after, a flying Kugisaki could be seen drawing in an arc and landing on the other side of the place.

"Can't you be a little gentle?" While patting her dusted clothes, Kugisaki complained. Although she wasn't injured, given her strong physicality, it still was a little annoying to be thrown like that.

"...sorry." Megumi rubbed the back of his head before his body suddenly froze.

It wasn't just him, but the other two also turned stiff at their spots as well.

The feeling of death was what it could be described as. The congregation of Cursed Energy never felt in such abundance for both Kugisaki and Yuji.

The first person to respond to the Cursed Spirit was of course,

**DHAKK**

With his left hand raised in a right hook, Megumi tried punching the Special Grade Cursed Spirit—only to find his fist being held by the thing without much effort.

However, Megumi only grinned at that before his eyes glowed with a vibrant golden shade, and purple lightning extended from Megumi to the Spirit.

[KHREWK!]

The Cursed Spirit's thick skin was smoked by the attack before it jumped away from Megumi and instantly snatched its sac to free its legs from the restraint.

"Wise choice," Megumi spoke as he called back his toad and returned to his original state.

Thanks to the ability to wield any Shikigami's ability, he didn't need to summon Nue, to borrow its powers.

The Cursed Spirit glared at Megumi with malicious intent and the demeanor of amusement faded slowly.

"Yuji, Kugisaki." Hearing their names, both of them were able to pull themselves together, before they heard Megumi saying something entirely unbelievable.

"You guys need to leave. This thing is not something you guys are prepared to face. So better if you guys leave and bring back up."

"What are you on at, huh?! Are we going to come in your way?!" Kugisaki roared at her classmate for being such foolish.

However, she didn't expect him to respond so bluntly, "Yes...you guys will come in the way, so please, just go and call for help."

Nobara's eyes widened in frustration however, before she could say anything,

"Kugisaki." The said girl turned to look at Yuji.

After a small pause, she grumbled and said, "Don't die on me, Fushiguro, or I will kill you myself."
