Chapter 5: System Revelations

After the upper curse disintegrated into cursed energy, Ren let out a sigh. He felt a little exhausted, but at the same time excited.

'Ding'

[Mission Completed: Remove 5 grade three curses and one grade two curse.

Ren was silent for a moment, taking in the rewards. "Wait how is that possible?" he muttered to himself. Akari had removed three of the curses, but it still counted as if he had done it.

[The cursed clan system allows anyone to complete quests, as long as they are members of the Kurogane clan].

Ren stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes widened in surprise. "Anyone from the clan can complete the missions? That means I don't necessarily have to do everything myself..." He pondered for a moment, his mind working at full speed. "So, if Akari and other clan members continue to eliminate curses or complete quests.... how much energy and power could I accumulate?"

As his thoughts raced, his eyes fell upon Akari, who was walking nonchalantly beside him, humming a tune. Suddenly, the thought crossed his mind: what if all the clan members worked for him? The potential was limitless!

Ren couldn't stop a wicked grin from starting to form on his face, his eyes sparkling with excitement. Akari noticed and frowned with a mixture of amusement and distrust. "What are you planning, Ren? That face... I don't like it."

Ren let out a small laugh. "Nothing important. I was just thinking about how useful you can be."

Akari gave him a sidelong glance, raising an eyebrow. "Wow… that was flattering, I didn't think you viewed me as a tool."

"More like a trusted companion."

She laughed and tapped him gently on the shoulder. "You keep at it. Don't forget to give me half the rewards." Akari stuck her tongue out at him playfully and continued walking towards the clan.

Soon, they arrived at the gates of the Kurogane clan. The mansion greeted them with its high walls and imposing carved wooden door. Before parting, Ren stopped to look at Akari.

"Thanks for your help today."

Akari smiled, "You're welcome. If you want, we can do it more often. It's always fun to watch you try to keep up with me."

Ren smiled. "I'll think about it."

With one last knowing smile, the two parted, and Ren walked to his room, feeling the weight of accumulated fatigue. But his mind was still restless. There was much more to the system than I had imagined. Arriving at his room, he plopped down on the bed, staring at the ceiling with a mixture of excitement and various thoughts.

"If any member of the clan can complete missions, then I can use this to my advantage. The whole clan could be my tool to grow. If I can influence others to complete missions, my power would increase without me even having to lift a finger."

While he could not directly ask clan members to fulfill system missions, he could make the system missions appear to coincide with the clan's interests.

He should first take charge over the delegation of clan missions and then create a network of missions interconnected with the system.

Ren smiled as he thought about how the whole clan could be working for him, without them even realizing it.

"Who needs paid workers when you have a whole clan working for free?"
