Chapter 3: Preparations

Chapter 3: Preparations

Ren retreated to a small room and decided to check out what the system had to offer.

Opening the system store panel, a list of techniques and tools appeared. There were everything from talismans and scrolls to advanced cursed tools, but his eyes stopped on an advanced clan technique: 'Minor Gravity Singularity'.

Ren smiled confidently at the sight of the technique. However, that smile quickly faded when he looked at the cost: 1000 cursed points (CP).

"Damn..." he muttered to himself, scratching his head. He barely had 200 Cursed points. his options were reduced to buying minimal supplies like protection talismans and Cursed energy recovery potions.

It would not be easy to complete this mission alone, so he turned to a clanmate for more support in his mission. After a while of reflection, he decided to look for Akari Kurogane.

Akari, a fellow clan member, according to his memories they had a good relationship.

Ren found her in her usual spot, resting on a rock in the training field, hands behind her head and eyes closed as if she was in the middle of a nap.

"Akari, are you asleep?" asked Ren, arching an eyebrow.

She opened one eye and looked at him, sketching a lazy smile. "Ren... Are you coming to train? Because if so, I'll pass. Life's too short to train every day, you know?"

Ren sighed, now she remembered that she was lazy too. "I don't come to train. I need your help."

Akari slowly sat up, stretching. "My help? What, did you get stuck in one of your own gravitational fields or something?"

"Of course not, I've been assigned a mission. There are curses in the mountains: five grade three and one grade two."

Akari watched him for a few seconds in silence, as if pondering whether it was worth the effort. "And why me, couldn't you ask some other fool in the clan who has nothing better to do?"

Ren smiled wryly. "Because I trust you, and besides, You've also been too lazy lately."

Akari smiled as she stood up with unexpected grace. "Fine, but if we do this, let's be clear: I'm not doing this for nothing."

Ren shrugged. "We'll split the rewards."

Akari gave him an amused look and then tapped him on the shoulder. "Alright, alright. I'll team up with you this time. But you better not make me look bad."

Ren nodded slightly as he watched her stretch. Her gravity technique was known for its precision, allowing her to move with almost inhuman speed and agility, avoiding attacks while launching her own with surprising ease. It seemed that everything around her slowed down when she fought, except for her.

"Let's go then, before I regret it and decide to go back to sleep," Akari joked, starting to walk towards the exit. "Though I wonder if those curses are interesting enough to keep me from getting bored."

Ren smiled. From his memories even though Akari irritated him at times, he knew he could count on her in combat. They had fought together before, and he was always impressed by how she transformed her seeming laziness into precise and lethal moves in a matter of seconds.

"I just hope you don't fall asleep in the middle of the fight."

Akari laughed. "Come on, then. The sooner we take out those curses, the sooner we can get back to resting," Akari said, patting Ren's shoulder before starting to walk towards the exit.

Ren followed her, this would be his first time facing the curses, it only remained to get ready and head for the mountains.
