CHAPTER 23: THE NEW DAWN

Suguru's life had taken an unexpected turn even before he could have foreseen it. His new school was Jujutsu High. He spent the evening arranging his belongings in his hostel room, curious about the nature of the school. The idea of attending high school without Sana saddened him, and he missed her deeply. However, the hope that she might recover fueled his resolve for this new chapter of his life. He didn't realize when he fell asleep.

Morning arrived quickly. He was awakened by the sound of a door slamming outside. Groggy but determined, Suguru got up to get ready for the day. He hadn't received his uniform yet, so he dressed in casual clothes. He wore a loose, white shirt that draped effortlessly over his frame, the oversized fit lending him an air of nonchalance. The soft fabric contrasted with the sharp, tailored black pants that fell neatly over his ankles, giving him a slightly polished look. On his feet, he sported a pair of simple gray sneakers, well-worn but stylish, completing his laid-back ensemble.

A soft breeze ruffled his hair as he made his way to the entrance, the weight of the unknown pressing down on him. His hair was tied back into a ponytail, showcasing his black earrings, with inky black strands cascading down his back. A few rebellious locks escaped the tie, forming bangs that framed his face.

As he entered the classroom, he noticed a girl with short brown hair sitting at the front. His gaze then shifted to a tall boy with a distinguished appearance sitting next to her. The boy had white hair and wore black round goggles, even indoors. Both of them gave him surprised looks. Just as they were about to start a conversation, Yaga-sensei entered the classroom and asked Suguru to introduce himself.

"I'm Geto Suguru," he began, but Yaga quickly interrupted, saying, "He will be studying with you from now on. He's new to Jujutsu, so help him understand things."

"New to Jujutsu? What does that even mean?" the white-haired boy blurted out with a puzzled expression.

"Satoru, you're in charge of explaining everything to him and showing him around the school," Yaga instructed before being called away by the higher-ups, likely to discuss Suguru.

As Yaga left, Satoru and the girl both stood up to greet Suguru, who was still standing near the blackboard. "Suguru, I'm Satoru, and this is Shoko. Leave your bag here, and let's show you around the school," Satoru said, flashing a wide smile that showed his teeth.

"I suppose I should have had a chance to introduce myself," Shoko remarked, glancing at Satoru before smiling at Suguru.

"Haha, nice to meet you both. But where are the other students?" Suguru asked innocently.

"Even having three students in one class is a miracle. Very few Jujutsu sorcerers are born. Have you ever met anyone else who can see cursed spirits?" Satoru explained as best he could.

"Okay, I understand a bit, but aren't we supposed to attend classes and have a school tour after that?" Suguru asked, still surprised.

"Hahaha, who even cares about classes? Yaga-sensei won't be back for an hour or two, and I don't see any other teachers around. Let's go!" Satoru replied with his usual playful demeanor.

"Shoko, you coming?" Satoru asked.

"I have some work to do, so you two go ahead. We'll meet in the evening at the playground," Shoko said as she bid them goodbye and walked away.

"Let's go, Suguru," Satoru said with a big, friendly smile.
