Chapter Thirty Eight

I search for a while and I found a cave deep within the mountain ranges. I walked in and slowly searched to see if anything or a beast was living inside. If a beast was there, I would find out using the feces or urine to determine how long it was here last and if it went out for hunting and would return home. Another method was checking the furs left behind by the beast and knowing how fresh it was would also make someone know when it was coming back.

I found none and nothing was indicating that anyone has been here for quite some time. The cave was in human form. I realized this from the structure in which it was carved. A natural cave would have many smooth surfaces but this one had a lot of rough edges and there was a rock carved out. The rock was not too large but it was good enough to create a little cover and I rolled it up to the entrance and kept it there to form some kind of security for me at the entrance.

I walked back to the cave and sat on the cold floor and closed my eyes. My mind flashed straight to a technique that was there. As soon as I touched it with my spiritual senses, a percentage of the information came to me. It was a body-strengthening technique.

Its name was the Flaming Body Technique. It was the technique the Gold Flaming Tiger used. From the introduction, it was a technique that allowed the body to refine fire and use it to strengthen the body. It allowed the trainer to temper the body with massive flames and in return when fighting within flames, instead of damages being inflicted on the body the user would draw a percentage of the flames and use it in battle.

The amazing thing about this technique was that in battle once flames were used, even the slightest flames would boost the fighting prowess of the user.

The only downside was that after level ten, the user would have to either have to find a complementing technique to continue using or he would have to find a way to get to the eleventh level of the technique on his own.

Looking inside my body, I saw the three veins that ran through my body. The first was my normal human being which was red. It was the smallest among them all. The second was the vein that was previously purple but now, it was purple and the was a bold line of yellow on it and it was larger than it previously was. This vein was the one that came to reality when I made the soul seal with Yasrina.

The final vein was the golden white vein which I had no understanding of how it came to bring. It was bigger than the other two veins combined and grew bigger after the Gold Flaming Tigers' blessings.

I tried probing it with my spiritual senses but I could not find out what kind of powers it carried. No matter what I tried I could not even get it to wake up from its deep slumber. It felt like a great General who was asleep. No matter what you needed it to do it wouldn't respond until it felt its need was required.

The first level of the Flaming Body Technique was the "Mortal Flame Body". At this level, the user would have to ignite the flames from their veins.

This level was the doorway into the usage of the Flaming Body Technique. Once the user is able to ignite the flames in his veins and maintain it at a level the body is able to endure and finds it easy to ignite and level up then one would agree that he had learned the first level. What remained was mastery.

Once the flames have been ignited, the user makes use of his spiritual energy. Once the energy is burnt up, the technique would naturally come to a stop as to not injure the user. But if the user force the technique to still be powered up there was a possibility of burning the veins and that would lead to the end of cultivation for that person.

After knowing the introduction of the technique, I started trying to direct my spiritual energy to ignite the flames. I tried to light it up but it refused. The second time it tried it again with force but it bounced off like a ball off a wall.

I kept trying and there was no response from the vein at all. I became tired and I opened my eye.

It was all dark outside but when I got here it was still morning. So I have been practicing all day. Since it was late, I opened my bag and brought out a ration of food and water. I ate it and I drank the water.

I rested my body a little and went to check the entrance to see if the rock has been moved before I returned back and closed my eyes, and went back to training.

When I was eating I was pondering the reason why I could not light up the vein and I realized that I was using too much force in trying to light it up.

I began to think if I use a gentle approach it would yield effort. So when I returned to training, instead of trying to hit the flame vein heavily, I pampered it like a little child, made it feel relaxed, and gradually my spiritual pressure was sipping in. Then I made a mistake, and as soon as I saw that my spiritual pressure was sipping in, I rushed to add more force, and then the vein bounced me off again.

Instead of getting frustrated like the first time I understood that I would only have to gently send in spiritual energy until it's able to ignite the flames in my veins, maybe if I want to increase the intensity of the flames I would pour in more spiritual energy.
