Journey of A Reincarnator

Matthew, an orphan, and a bastard child ever since he was born, died during a war protecting his fellow orphans and caretakers. Now, being brought into a more dangerous world than he used to live in, how will he use his second chance? --- Warning! I haven't written anything for the past few months, so don't expect anything good. Don't read it if you don't like it... I have no writing schedule since I'm in the 'busy' year in high school now... so don't expect an upload every day.

"ARRRGHH!"

Matthew immediately fell onto the ground, rolling on the ground, with his fist clenching his chest as he tried to regain his breath.

'How long have I been in this state!?' He yelled at himself.

His entire body was trying to reprocess the lost senses that he just regained, making feel like his brain exploded and shut down from information overload.

There was only one word that he wanted to shout out as his entire body started to twitch in pain before passing out...

FUUUUCK...

...

In only a few minutes, Matthew had already regained consciousness, examining his body that went through a severe number of breakthroughs in less than an hour.

Even if the system had never told him anything, by using a bit of common sense and he could already tell that the number of breakthroughs and amount of pure natural energy he absorbed should've killed many reincarnated cultivators, much less normal ones. Well, many some of the weaker reincarnated cultivators since those with stronger souls might've been able to withstand the opportunity he just went through.

Maybe he's underestimating the cultivators too much, but he'll learn it the hard way sooner or later.

No matter how prepared he is, he knew that he couldn't always be ready for everything that can happen, but he sure hoped that when that situation really does occur, that it isn't too serious.

Overall, the strength he gained from these breakthroughs was way above his expectations.

But... it seems like he hasn't reached a stage where every stage, even from initial to middle stages would be like heaven and earth. The major increase in strength was mainly because Matthew had broken through a major realm... and a half.

If he was back in his own world, he'd be a super soldier, most likely with the ability to block armor-piercing bullets, maybe even above that! He would've been near-invincible back in his world with this kind of strength!

However, this wasn't earth that he was inhabiting, but an extremely dangerous place where even Gods and Demons may exist and die if they weren't careful!

Plus, with the fact that in the late stages, entire worlds and realms shake with just a casual wave of an expert's hands. Compared to that, his strength now was nothing.

Even though he rose up to the Energy Strengthening Realm, the power increase wasn't actually that much.

'Seems like the only real difference starts when we reach the Energy Body realm where cultivators are able to use their energy with their body more effectively.'

Matthew clenched his fist, stopping his fist only when it was around an inch away from a stick of bamboo, creating a small shock wave, breaking the bamboo into two, and breaking a small number of bamboo behind it.

'No, the scale here is broken. I seem to have absorbed quite a bit of natural energy for this forest's energy reserves to drop at a visible rate.' Matthew thought, noticing that the vitality of this forest seems to have worsened slightly with some of the leaves from trees slightly turning yellow.

Matthew waved his hand in front of his, revealing a small screen of the rewards he received from breaking through to the Energy Strengthening realm.

==========

[Congratulations on your breakthrough to {Energy Strengthening Realm}!

[For reaching this cultivation realm in less than a week, bonus rewards will be given!

[Master Matthew has received:

[Unlock the functions - {Idle} | {Fusion}

[Increased {Inventory} space - (x10 slots)

[Increased total number of {Titled Skills} to 5 - (Bonus)

[Changed {Titled Skills} to {Abilities}

[Gained the Ability, {One With Energy}

[Complete permanent integration of body and soul with the system - (Bonus)

[All {skills} and {Abilities} have been improved - (Bonus)

[Added {Mystical Bamboo Forest} to {Idle} - (Bonus)

==========

The rewards were much better than expected, all of these rewards will be extremely helpful later on, basically giving Matthew a large number of precious treasures which he can fuse for better quality!

As the rewards fell upon Matthew, he could feel a slight change in his body. It felt more... like he owned it now if he was renting it before... if that makes any sense.

Since his body had finally been able to adapt to the new environment, it seems like some of his 'skills' became part of his 'abilities' instead.

Matthew could feel a small change in his body, one so small that he might've missed it if he wasn't focused on observing his body's power-up.

Matthew stared at the rewards for a while, frowning. 'The bonuses... it seems like I passed some sort of test for this to happen?'

He was already called 'master' before all of this, which made this slightly weird. Usually, he would be called a 'host' like the other reincarnators, rebirthers, and so.

'I'm sure there was something else other than just cultivating at a fast pace. Anyone with a decent talent for it could do that. What's the main... or real reason for the binding, system?' Matthew narrowed his eyes with a glint of curiosity.

[That is correct, Master. Although your chance of obtaining a system is nearly null, you have blown away my expectation of you during the week of harsh training you've placed on yourself. After all, it's quite hard for a person to suddenly put tons of stress on their body after having their body recovered. I respect your determination to become stronger!]

He knew it was bullshit... at the very least, it was a half-truth.

Matthew knew that the real reason wasn't that, although his situation was quite bad, there were always more determined, younger, impressionable, smarter, and stronger people this godly system could've chosen from.

There was a lingering question on his mind. Usually, systems would just say that 'We don't have the authority to know that.' kind of line, or just keep quiet in general. Why would it tell and lie to him?

However, it does seem like the system wasn't trying to lie to him, but more like giving him a hint. At least now he knew that the system wouldn't be unbound or betray him for some other host...

While stretching his arms and legs, Matthew glanced at the message in front of him, "Tell me about the new functions that were unlocked."

==========

[Ding~]

[Functions:

{Idle} - Using the system's farm, any dimension, dungeon, labyrinth, and other mystical places are able to be farmed without the use of a single finger! This will be constantly active, and will only reset once the Host claims the item. There are certain limitations for idle, which can somewhat lift after upgrading this function. The limitations are...

-Each run will produce only 50% of the loot than normal.

-You will have 5 chances of rerunning after the first clear.

-Maximum of 10 spots for idle mode.

{Fusion} - Allows the Host with this function to fuse two or more items together. There are certain limitations for fusion, which can somewhat lift after upgrading this function. The limitations are...

-You cannot fuse an item that is two minor realms higher than you before fusing.

-You cannot fuse living beings.

-You cannot fuse anything at and above the size of a building.

-Maximum of 3 items per fusion.

==========

With the addition of two new overpowered functions, Matthew beamed. 'The system is really generous. Even if it does have some restrictions.'

'Well, I can't get overpowered too fast, I guess... but that's fine with me.' Matthew mused at the thought of becoming stronger without doing anything.

"Right! I almost forgot about myself... System, show me my status."
