Journey of A Reincarnator

Matthew, an orphan, and a bastard child ever since he was born, died during a war protecting his fellow orphans and caretakers. Now, being brought into a more dangerous world than he used to live in, how will he use his second chance? --- Warning! I haven't written anything for the past few months, so don't expect anything good. Don't read it if you don't like it... I have no writing schedule since I'm in the 'busy' year in high school now... so don't expect an upload every day.

Without a single moment wasted, Matthew tried to experiment with his {Nature's Body}. Since his body had already adapted to the energy, he tried to see what he could do with the energy.

From what his system had told him, most of the rewards will usually be random, but they'll still be quite rich depending on how well he completes {Missions} and {Quests}.

The main difference between {Missions} and {Quests} is that {Missions} are given by others and the system, while the {Quests} is given to you in the form of the system. Directly meaning, {Quests} could only be made when the Host of said system wills it to exist, while also requiring said quest to be difficult enough for the Host...

Back to experimentation. Matthew had finished absorbing more than half of the mysterious energy from this area of the bamboo forest. It was a lot more than he can handle actively, so he set it back to auto-cultivate with his {Nature's Body}.

In fact, he felt a great power surge through him, as if he didn't even need to eat or drink anything in the first place. Maybe it was suppressed, maybe the need for it was gone as long as he kept cultivating, either way, this was great news for him. He could now be much more efficient without worrying about essentials for the next few days.

Instead of venturing out, he could use these bamboos to practice, even the most basic punches and kicks can become deadly once practiced enough.

Despite having absolutely no experience, it felt like his body already knew what to do. However, Matthew started by stretching his body to prepare for the training he was going to put himself through for the next few hours.

With his strengthened body, before completely exhausting himself in one go by punching all day, he decided to go on a run. It would be a good way to get a workout while surveying the area.

Even if he opened up his {Status}, it wouldn't mean much even if it showed all of it. Just because it was in numbers doesn't mean it was completely accurate, meaning one being's 1 stat point could be another being's 20 stat points in a certain stat.

It would be even more confusing if it showed some sort of realm description instead of numbers, how would he compare without a reference, right?

Of course, Matthew jogged at a steady pace to stop himself from tiring himself out. The scenery was the same through his jog, only green bamboos, and some occasional trees.

For what seemed like an hour, Matthew finally stopped to look around. bamboo everywhere, they were so tall that they blocked out some of the sun.

However, throughout the jog, he noticed that for some reason, it seemed like there was a path coming from where he was. At the time, he avoided it, especially noticing the wood path and some uneven cut bamboos on the floor, Matthew could tell that it was recently made.

Good thing he had already completely turned off his aura worth {Aura Control} the moment he noticed it, so he should be fine, for now.

The place he was in was decently far away, but his enhanced eyesight from {Ancient One}'s parameter boost made him able to see farther distances with ease. He was around 300 feet away from the path, just to be safe, he moved slightly further away, knowing that if even a beginner like him could analyze the energy in the air, others could as well.

Even if reality was different from the novels he read, if he really was in some sort of cultivation world, no matter what, power really does get to people, making them arrogant, indifferent to life unless it was their own.

Matthew couldn't risk it, he need to get stronger first! He was cautious at first but with the style of the clothes, the energy of the area, the weird name of his titled skills and sub-skills, it was very likely that even if this wasn't a cultivation world, it would be something close to it.

For the last piece of evidence...

"System, open up my full status." Matthew stared at the blue screen that appeared in front of him with a solemn expression.

[Master has finally decided to use the system... I am quite happy that my master has now placed his attention into this world.]

There is was... he's definitely in some sort of cultivation world.

Confirming this, he took a deep breath, looking at his status once again.

Seeing the (+) on his realm, he assumed that it meant that he was ready to breakthrough, but he needed to make sure.

[That is correct, master, any attribute, stat, or skill with an (+) means that they are ready for a breakthrough.]

'Am I able to sense if anyone is nearby, or maybe have a mini-map available or something?'

Matthew has no problem with fighting, but it'd be good to at least know the situation about the bamboo forest he's in.

[Please experiment with the basics by yourself. Most of the basics can be imagined using common sense from your own world and memories. The system is your assistant, not your babysitter. Only after you breakthrough to the Energy Body Realm can the system help you in the way you requested it to.]

Common sense? In a world where people could literally ascend to godhood? To fight with literal demons, tear through mountains and the sky with a slash of a sword. To a world where so much power is only given to certain individuals that usually don't even care about the people they rule if they even consider them people.

You want me to put common sense in a world like this?

Huuuuu~

No, calm down. I'm just looking for any excuse to vent my frustrations in such a cruel world I've been reborn in...

Common sense... to sense someone without actually looking at them...

A radar? To maintain a constant pulse of his own energy to identify anyone near him. This would make it possible for others to sense him as well if he's not careful... It's also how people get into trouble, being nosy in some expert's secret and being killed for knowing to much...

No, there was one thing that was different in the words of the system. It said to reach, 'Energy Strengthening Realm'. Shouldn't a cultivation realm need energies like Qi?

'This world just became several times more complicated.' Matthew pondered.

There was just too much to look out for right now. He needed to just develop the basics of basic skills first, and refine them slowly as he cultivates in this vast forest...

Yeah, that would be... the plan for now...
