A voice in the forest

It was late night when James sat outside in the forest of Hawks Landing beside the second body of water. He tapped this staff on the waters of the lake. There was a hidden enchantment on both of the two great lakes in the known sky realm.

The glow of the blood moon cast a reflection on the waters that had an odd effect on the water. He lifted a cup to his hand sipping on his warm tea while he felt someone creeping up on him from behind.

"Why are you so restless?" He asked the stranger behind him.

"I wanted to speak with you." Bellatrix said in strange voice.

"Oh! Bellatrix. Your here. Come have a seat and talk with me for a bit." James said indicating a place to his left.

"Who were you talking to you?" Bellatrix asked sensing that he hadn't been talking to her at first.

"Never mind all that!" James held up a hand when he sensed she was about to take a seat to his right. "Don't sit down there. That's my wife's seat."

"She is not here." Bellatrix said.

"My wife sits to my right. Dago sits to my left. You may take my left. What brings you out for a night walk." He said and half turned when she came to sit down next to him. She was naked but for a mist surrounding certain parts of her body.

Bellatrix looked down at herself and grimaced. "Thank you." She said.

James nodded but he studied her face closely. "You prefer to be naked when your not around none were-creature kind?"

Bellatrix frowned but nodded her staring at him silently. She studied him his gaze a few moments before quickly away.

"You are a strange creature, your Highness. You're not a wizard or were-creature are you a mixture between the two? Is that why you smell so strange and act so not like a wizard." She asked in confusion.

James shook his head. "No. I am the man of the mist. I'm not like you. How I act is normal for me. I just don't share your interests at all."

Bellatrix looked at him again. "You don't find me appealing to look at all?"

James stared at her. "You are a model. Your pretty to look at but your not my wife and you not as powerful as she is."

"Power. Is what attracted you to Mara?" Bellatrix asked.

James grinned but shook his head. "Oh no. I wasn't thinking about power when I saw Mara that first night on the lake boat trip to Hogwarts. She was like a fairy creature. Her eyes were twin moons that glowed in the night, her face perfect, her hair a lovely blond color that seemed shimmer in the moonlight. In terms of intelligence brilliant in terms of creativity fine and in terms of power a worthy partner to me."

"What do you think of me?" Bellatrix asked again in that strange voice.

James shrugged. "I think other then your were-creature heritage and beauty. Your pretty boring." He said bluntly and took a sip from his cup.

Bellatrix frowned at him and stared at him waiting for something more. James said nothing he just looked up at her beautiful face with an expression devoid of any particular interest.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked him.

James shrugged. "I'm just admiring how you face is put together and your fangs do not detract away from everything else put together. It really is put together well. Nature as favored you well."

Bellatrix snorted in laughter. "You look at me like I'm some type of painting or piece of art."

James nodded his head. "You are. Did Dago tell you of the bet he and I have got going? Is that why you're here acting strangely?"

Bellatrix's face flushed with embarrassment. "Yes. He did tell me of the bet. No. I am not acting strange at all at least to me. Dago is well up to the task of winning against you though you will have your first child ahead of him. We plan to have five at the most." She said with a little hesitation in her voice.

James raised an eye brow. "You plan on convincing Dago to have eight children."

Bellatrix looked at him raising her eyebrows. James glared at her as her face gave away everything.

"Oh. I see what this is. Your trying to convince me to bow out of the bet because you plan on having ten children. I see your game."

Bellatrix's mouth fell open. "I was not-"

"The answer is no." James said in a voice of finality. "Now that I know your plan. You will not defeat me. I am well up to the task myself. No matter you resolve and combined efforts to defeat me. It shall not happen."

Bellatrix's mouth again fell open. "Excuse me! Wait a minute. I didn't come here to-"

"-Yes you did. You trying to use your feminine charms and all that bullshit to make me settle and roll over and have only two children. The answer is no. You will not defeat lady Bellatrix. The game is on." He said sipping his cup of tea.

Bellatrix glared at him. "You are so purposely misunderstanding me. There is another reason I came to visit you here tonight."

"Really. So you do not intend on having ten children with Dago?" James asked.

Bellatrix's face flushed and she glared at him. "Whatever my business with my mate is none of your concern. I'll have as many children as I want which will be more then you and Mara. I came here to discuss another matter about the possibility of us having an affair because I wish to have strong children with you. Most female humans aren't up to the task of many children. I decided to help you out. What do you say?" Bellatrix said in a pleasant voice.

James stared at her and then laughed in her face. Bellatrix glared at him with her mouth pressed closely together. He shook his fist at her. "You and Dago are thick as thieves. You dare say that bullshit in front of me just to confuse the hell out of me. You can take your offer and shove it up your giant flat none existent ass."

Bellatrix came to her feet abruptly and glared down at him kicking sand and dirt at him. "Your such an asshole. I was trying to be nice now I'm going to have thirteen children to your two and a half. If you can manage even that with your busy schedule. I doubt you'll have the energy for that. Goodnight." She said turning on her heels and stomping away.

"The game is on lady flat ass. The game is on!" James said rising his cup to her.

Bellatrix froze and turned her heel her eyes glowing. "Did you? Did you call me Lady Flat ass!"

James nodded. "Yes. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw your giant naked flat ass falling down into Hawks Landing lake when you arrived here. I thought. Hmm. She has an extremely noticeable flat ass because of her advanced height. Pleasant dreams. Goodnight, Lady flat ass. Remember the game is on!"

Bellatrix gave him a rude jester before turning on her heel and walking away quickly in embarrassment.

There was soft laughter in the air though no one was around. James shook his head at Bellatrix's retreating back. "Dago. Dago. You will not defeat me friend. I will have many children and you have to eat shit." He said.

The female laughter continued in the night. James paid no mind to the laughter only continued to drink his tea in silence for a few moments and then he took up his staff and tapped it against the waters.

The ripples sounded out a musical note. James frowned at the sound. He scratched his chin and set his cup down on the ground.

"Middle C!" the female voice said to his right.

James snapped his fingers. "Yes. I wonder. What it will produce afterword."

"Life." The female voice whispered.

James wondered about that and then he had to shrug and he had to nod his head in acknowledgement. "Yes that seems very much the case. I wonder though. Will I have enough time before if happens."

"Do you want to take her with you?" the female voice asked.

James frowned. "Of course. A promise is promise."

"We shall see." The female voice said.

"Your being very nice to me. After all the work I've done here. You could at least grant me a little promise." James pleaded quietly.

"I'm sorry." The female voice said.

James sighed. Looking up at the sky. He felt some arrive and looked over his shoulder to see Mara behind him. He smiled at her coming to his feet and took her hands.

Mara stared up at him. "Are you going to leave me again?"

James shook his head. "Not by choice. Something is going to happen soon. I don't have much control over my life much like every mortal man but I have a bit of a gift for enchantments. Stay by me from now on. Where I go. You go. Enchantmentum Valori!"

Mara stared up at him. "I will stay by you from now on. Where you go I will go. Enchantmentum Valori! I love you James."

James smiled at her putting his arms around her waist. "I love you to, Mara. Let's go to bed. Oh I met with Bellatrix. She tried to trick in to having more children with you. I caught on to her plan though. I told we're going have thirteen children at least."

Mara stared at him and snorted in laughter. "James! We are not having thirteen children."

James held a finger to her lips. "She doesn't have to know that. I had to enrage her and Dago for that bullshit they pulled on me. I'm going to win this bet. Are you with me?"

Mara laughed as they disappeared.
