Chits For Chat

He followed her tracks, stepping faster than he had ever,...at least to school.

There she was, her unnatural pink hair waving through the wind.

'Are they dyed?' He questioned himself.

Her skin was fair. His own was fair enough, that it was getting red due to the scorching sun, but she had an elegant touch to herself. Smooth glistening skin as if she was coated with honey.

He was just a few steps away…and he lost her.

Looking around hurriedly to find a trace of the one to make his heart beat so ferociously, Yaksh wasted his precious fifteen minutes and was late to class.

He walked slowly to his class. Still wondering where she was, he stepped inside without any permission or even guilt on his face for being late.

"Yaksh!" The loud scream of his math teacher rang in his ear.

There she was, sitting on the chair with their textbook in hand.

Sometimes he doubted if Mrs.Singh, their math teacher, thought that math was a theory subject.

Or maybe she just wasn't in her right mind.

"How dare you come late to class. And no less enter without my permission!!."

Mrs. Singh was a woman in her 30's. Beautiful and smart. It was just a flaw that she had a bad temper. She was a short-long temper woman.

Short time to get angered and long to calm down.

Yaksh looked at her, still half away in his thoughts.

"My apologies." To say he had no fear of her would be false. He just didn't care.

Since he was an honor student of the school, professors mostly never scolded him.

Unlike ones like mrs. Singh.

"Apology? And what about coming late!?" Her temper was rising.

'Hah, just because I am not scared of you, you don't have to be so mad about it.' Yaksh thought as he ruffled his hair.

'They have grown, gotta get a haircut.'

"... Ksh! Patil Yaksh!! How daring of you to ignore me!" Now she was on her feet.

"Tell me why you were late or else…" She had her wooden ruler in hand as she waved in the air, hinting she would strike him next.

'It's such a long way to school…' is what he wanted to say.

"I am extremely sorry mam, but i forgot my math book at home and to take that back, i went home again from school.

In that hectic, I was late." He tried sugar coating her.

And it seemed to work! Her expressions softened.

And so she asked another question softly.

"And why didn't you ask for permission before entering?" She asked while sitting down.

"I was trying to figure out the answer to the last question that you gave as homework."

Yaksh knew very well even if he didn't face the whole class, that everyone was boring their glares in him. However, to get away from the situation, he would use anything at hand.

"Oh, and have you figured it out yet?" Mrs.Singh knew very well that yaksh wasn't someone who would do his homework. She herself had seen him completing his english assignments right before submission time.

So this was a good chance to teach him a lesson.

"Yes I have." He nodded confidently.

'To be honest, I don't even know what that question is.' He tried remembering the but nothing worked.

'Ah shit, I didn't get the homework questions written down.' Anyone could read his face clearly and this boosted mrs.Singhs confidence again.

"Well then, come and solve it" she told him.

Yaksh moved.

'What do I do!? Shit, Shit….'he cursed hundreds of times, but that wasn't going to help. He didn't even know the question. Only if he did…

That's when it clicked him.

The person sitting on the first bench, right in front of their teacher, was their class's 2nd rank.

And as always, he had all the notes of the lecture spread on the desk. And under the table were assignments.

Yaksh scrounged his eyes and was able to lightly see the questions.

'Finally!' He stomped faster and took the chalk in front of his teacher.

Just the question was enough for him.

Even though he hadn't studied for any subjects, he knew all the basic formulas and methods from what he had learned during lectures.

In a split second, by devising his own way, he wrote the answer correctly.

"A…alright, now go and sit at your seat.'' Mrs.Singh didn't expect that and was flustered that he was able to solve the toughest question she had given them in the homework. He jumped down the one foot stage and went hurriedly to his seat.

However, something even more surprising happened.

He saw those pink hair again, the ones he was following.

She was sitting there, on his bench, as his benchmate.

Since their school was a Co-Ed, they were all seated according to their roll numbers.

She looked at him and he got a closer look at her. Her hair were tied in a pony tail, brown eyes and a mole on her left side of the nose.

His heart was beating again. Faster and faster. He couldn't stop it. Standing still, he kept looking at the beautiful girl ahead of him.

"You should sit down before she scolds you again." her voice woke him from his thoughts.

She said as she pulled her bag from the space he was supposed to sit.

Without much thought, he sat down, mistakenly, a lot closer than he wanted to.

This made her a bit startled and he immediately slid to a corner, with a huge flush on his face. He could see her snicker slightly.

'What am I doing!? Why is this happening!?' him, who had never ever fallen for a girl till now and was always on their bad side had finally fallen in love. To know what it was, he was too immature for it.

While he was taking out his notebook, a page slid in his corner. When he looked, two fingers, with pink nail paint on them were pushing them further.

"Huh?" He looked at her, and found her pointing at the chit.

He took it, his heart was racing again.

'Damn, stay quiet.' he punched his heart, startling her again.

The chit read.

-What is your name?-

He scribbled something with his ball point pen which was of 2 rupees and gave it to her again.

-I do not reveal my identity, unless until situations call upon-

This was one of the lines he had read in an anime and it hit the door of his best quotes quickly. Sadly, not many people knew about it whenever he did that so he was labeled weird at times.

-Consider your situation is upon you, and reveal! Hush…-

But to his infinite surprise, the girl, his first crush knew about it!

He scribbled his name on it and passed it to her. It was the first time he had ever not paid attention to a lecture. He would always pay attention in the lectures.

-I am Aanya Oswal. Nice to meet you.-

He wanted to continue, but the teacher was getting to the part which he couldn't ignore.

-Nice to meet you too. Let's talk later…-

He wasn't afraid of someone misunderstanding him as cold or arrogant. Mostly because he liked to be alone and out of those social circles.

She nodded and folded the chit and kept it in her bag.

It was a long class, since the lecture after the math lecture was canceled and Mrs.Singh took the chance to complete their current lesson. After all, the last semesters of their eighth grade were just around the corner.

"And that ends our class as well the lesson. Test will be day after tomorrow." and she left while ignoring the groans.

And now,..it was finally time for him to talk, to the one who had messed with his heart.
