Chapter 70

" I don't think they are coming." Kana said quietly patting her skirt before looking up at Danuja. The silver headed girl was sitting squatted on the ground, her fingers treading through Dad wiry fur.

Danuja let Kana sleep on her for at last a hour and she would be a fool if she didn't profit of that moment. She let her fingers touch Kana face carefully, the bridge of her nose and the highness of her cheeks, under her closed eyes and smoothing the skin between her eyebrows.

She did not dare to touch her lips.

" Did this happen before?" Danuja asked seating on the ground beside Kana, not minding Dad who was trying to get under her knees

" No." Kana said smiling and Danuja wasn't sure why in the world that smile looked resigned for a second before switching back at being gentle " Danuja-san always waits here with me and well, the driver isn't obligated to take me back and forth." she said shrugging

Then what the fuck was his job to begin with Danuja thought bitterly before getting up and apologize to Hitomi-san and Mr. Touma before taking Kana bag over her shoulder making sign with her head

" Let's go then." Danuja said smiling gently at Kana lost face " If you are fast enough we don't catch the rush hour at the train." she said her smile transforming into a small smirk when Kana face begin to brighten

" We can go on foot though." Kana said already following Danuja, chuckling when Dad followed them, bumping into Danuja side before going slightly ahead

" It's a long way." Danuja said throwing her arm over Kana shoulders, tucking her closer to her, enjoying the girl free laughter.

This feels like a scene from some shoujo manga Danuja couldn't help but think looking down at Kana squished form stuck on her side

She looked to her left, where Dad was easily occupying two seat and the people didn't even dare to come closer to him. It wasn't exactly forbidden for animals to enter trains, at last the slightly older ones, but then again no one can exactly say no when seeing this guy.

For better or worse.

" Sorry." Kana said when she stepped on her shoes making her smile

" It's okay. They saw better days. " she said trying to not breath too hard in her scent huffing a breath of air when her legs begin to ache.

She really was trying to not squish Kana there more than she already was. The last thing she needed was to stuck her body to Kana's and do something dumb like leaning forward and biting her neck of all things.

" Not that." Kana said pouting before adding a little embarrassed " That too. But I mean, walking too slow and catching he rush hour. " she said her fingers trembling slightly and just now Danuja observed how pale the girl was, her forehead having a light layer of sweat.

" You okay?" she asked, tensing her knees just a little bit, trying to catch Kana eye

'' Yes.'' Kana said before adding at Danuja dubious look '' Really I am. It's just the crowd really but if you stay right where you are I'm going to be fine.'' she said reassuring Danuja with gentle smiles and bright eyes.

And if Danuja leaned forward, caging her in the process and almost losing herself with her scent, then no one commented.

They walked slowly to Kana house, the night already settling in and the people getting fewer and fewer the closer they got to Kana house.

The air was cold, a sign for an early winter and Kana didn't comment beside a pleasant blush when Danuja covered her with her jacket that almost touched her knees easily.

Huh?  Danuja thought when the two of them obviously passed the intimidating compound of the Shishijima's

'' It's a little further from here.'' Kana said unbothered, smiling slightly when Dad stumbled forward sniffing the new place '' That's The Main family house.'' she said responding to Danuja questions that bubbled in her mind and making new ones pop out at the same time '' My house it's a little further from them.'' she said laughing shortly when Dad bumped his wet nose on her hand

Leaving the two be, Danuja couldn't help but think about the situation. 

Who calls their family members as The Main family? Danuja thought frowning slightly It's that normal with a bigger family?

Sometimes she cursed the fact that she didn't understand how those things worked, she know in some way that a family dynamic can be closer with a dog pack than others thing. There was the Alpha of the pack, the provider, the one that fights the pack enemies and the ones that makes the general rules, the Betas that protected or take care of the packs inner conflicts.

And there were the Omegas, the weaker link of the pack in some terms but the ones that nurture and heal the pack, the ones that are taken cared of and protected by all the pack like a well trained unit.

So in Danuja mind, a family, one with a lot of members should be something similar with that dynamic.

'' This is it.'' Kana said, her nose covered by the jacket collar making her voice slightly muffled. 

Danuja couldn't help but stop in her tracks and look without an actual emotion at the house in front of her. She wasn't sure what was worse. The small, lonely looking house that looked like it saw better days, the empty yard without a string of grass even or the giant fence around the place.

'' It looks better on the inside.'' Kana said making Danuja smile, making sure to stay relaxed while turning back to Kana

'' I'm sure it does.'' she said gently before nodding towards the house '' Can I come in a little? I need to use the bathroom.'' Danuja said smiling a little 'embarrassed' before following Kana towards the house making sure to stay behind her while getting Dad attention.

Still having Kana body in her vision, Danuja squatted slightly beside Dad and made a sign of looking around, by rolling her finger in the air.

'' Search.'' she said quietly getting a grumble in return before leaving him be and returning to Kana

'' Oh!'' Kana said turning to Danuja, her hand on the door handle '' What about Dad?'' she asked concerned making Danuja smile

'' Let him sniff around, I'm not going to take long.'' Danuja said convincing her before Kana opened the door.
