Chapter 16: A Dragon wants a Pet Dragon

Lend me your eyes for a moment... What? Can't really say lend me your ears because you will be reading in the first place, now can I?

But anyway. Forget that.

After eight ardous weeks of suffering,

Eight long weeks of straining my hands, though already painful but still forced myself to continue,

Eight long weeks of stress and frantic filled days...

Finally... I have finally got myself free from the dreaded, evil clutches of that abomination!

They go by many names,

They go by many sizes and shapes,

All with one single purpose.

Hidden by sweet and flowery words is a single meaning that everyone of my kind deeply understands.

These abominations... They are called...

The Modules.🤣

*Ba-dum Crash!!!* 😂😂😂 Can't believe how my imagination runs, especially in nonsensical things as this~!!! 😜😜😜

[Kross' POV]

I'm currently walking towards my designated apartment, or was it a dorm? Meh, whatever you may call it.

I've already parted ways with the others a few minutes ago, half an hour to be exact, just as the twin stars are beginning to set.

And let me just say this... It was tough.

Why you may ask?

Well here's the thing... Reah happened.

Yes, Reah. She insisted on living with me from now on considering that we two are engaged(though still unofficial), but was fortunately held back by my dear old grandpa Sylv and the two princes.

Fortunately those three are there... And still contain some 'sanity'... don't ask.

Good grief.

Seriously. Two individuals barely reaching the age of teens living under the same roof, that's just too unimaginable in my old world. But it doesn't seem to be the case here... But my point still stands.

It is still inappropriate in my opinion and my mindset still follows Earth's culture, so who can blame me?

Anyways. I already got ahold of my class schedules for tomorrow and my apartment keys as well as some books on magic theory and a set of clothing for the physical activities.

The cloth set consist of a white, v-neck shirt with sky blue collar and sleeves with a small insignia of the institute on the corner of the left chest, just above where the heart should be. And lastly, similarly colored shorts that reached down to my knees. And oddly enough, a pair of sky blue shoes with black accents that definitely look like a simple and modern sneaker. Well, if it were not for the size adjustment enchantment and the facts that it's extremely light and so comfortable to wear, then I would have thought so. Wait, I guess I already did? Meh, details.

As for my class schedule, it goes as follows;

My first class would be on Magic Theory, followed by the Studies of Powers which, I'm definitely curious about.

After that will be the lunch break.

Then comes the class for Life Lessons and Commodities which will be followed by the Combat classes which will be managed by elite adventurers for the rest of the school hours.

It is simple and more direct in my opinnion.

Unlike in my old world where all those nonsensical subjects(no offense) the school departments have been forcing the students to learn, lessons that we don't even know how to use or do we even have the need to learn in the first place forced into our brains that will later just be useless in our daily lives, and what remains are just some random bullsh*ts in our memories about them.

Thinking of such thoughts, it made me involuntarily shiver.

I'm just glad that I won't have to go through all those BS in this life again.

Letting out a sigh, I stopped in front of the door with [S-205] on it.

The building that I'm currently in is a freaking ten storey building complex with a hell of a long corridor because of the sheer size and the number of apartments in this 'monstrous' structure.

What's worse is that my room just have to be located on the top floor... Too unlucky.

Fortunately, this world, or rather this continent at least, has already developed to the point that there are already some operable elevators, but people here just call them the 'Lift' , yes. That's how dull their naming sense are.

I shook my head and took the keys in hand and opened the door.

What I saw surprised me, to say the least.

The first thing that came into my vision is the wide living room with comfortable looking couches, a red floor mattress, and a round glass table in the middle.

To the right side, I can see a corridor with two doors at the end, which I assumed to be the rooms for sleeping, bedrooms for short.

Looking to my left, I saw another short corridor which leads to the kitchen and another for which, if my guess is correct, leads to the bathroom.

Over all, the room is well lit and and is quite beautiful in my opinion. It gives off this classy vibe that could only be felt in some high class hotels in my old world.

Not to mention that all the furnitures here seemed to be well crafted and made from good materials.

But something is strange, yes is definitely strange.

There are two rooms here... Doesn't that mean that I have a room mate?

Then, as if to confirm my assumptions, I saw someone came out from the kitchen.

"Oh? I see that you have finally arrived."

That someone said with a smile.

Tall and slim figure with short silver hair, green eyes, and pointed ears. Yup, it's confirmed. This dude is an elf. And... The said elf is currently wearing an apron...

"Oh, hehehe. I got caught up in something earlier, so~"

"Haha. No problems there, I know what has transpired earlier. Now then, I presume that a proper introduction is in order. I'm Alaia Dryas, second prince and also one of the representative that was sent from the empire of Elvhaira, a pleasure to meet you."

He said with his right hand over his chest and did a curt bow.

Oh, I guess they don't do handshakes, huh.

"Oh, uhm, likewise. I'm named as Kross, just Kross."

Following his example, I also did a bow in return.

"Mm. Now then, Kross. I have already taken the room to the left, so your room would be the one on the right side of the corridor. I hope you don't mind."

"Ah, I don't mind at all. I'm fine with any room."

"Perfect. Then I'll leave you for a moment as I still have to finish what I'm cooking. Would you like to join me for dinner?"

"Uhm, well. If it's no trouble with you,"

"Oh, don't worry. It's no trouble at all~! Then I'll better tend to it, see you in a bit."

"Mm. I'll be checking on my room in the meantime."

Man~. How did that guy do that?

He sound carefree but polite at the same time... Cool.

I walked to my room and opened it with the other key that was given to me earlier.

It looked neat. Simple yet elegant, mainly because of the white walls and the finely made desk, a single chair, a bookshelf beside it, a big bed, and a wardrobe.

One thing that I noticed though,

"What's with people and white in this continent?"

Yeah, since I've arrived here, mainly in this institute, my vision will most often than not, will be presented with white.

Sitting on the bed which sinks to my weight, I couldn't stop my self from lying down, enjoying the comfort it's providing.

"Man~. This bed is great. Even better than the one I used at the inn I stayed."

I closed my eyes with my hands spread wide, feet lazily dangling at the side of my bed, as my breathing became steady.

Few seconds later, I snapped my eyes open when my nose caught the delectable aroma in the air, which put a smile on my face as my stomach growled at me.

Stretching a bit, I stood up.

"Welp, can't let a good food waiting. But I guess I'll also be cooking some. I didn't really get full these past three days..."

I grumbled to myself as I rubbed my stomach.

I can eat normal amounts of food, if not, a little more than a normal person consumes a day, and I can already feel my hunger sated there.

But it just doesn't make me full, not in the slightest.

Sighing, I made my way out of my room and walked to the kitchen, as I browsed through my Inventory for the available types of meat currently kept in it.

Maybe I can acquire a cooking skill this time... Hopefully.

°. °. °.

I woke up the next day with my mind and body fully refreshed.

Getting out of my pyjamas that I have bought the time I went exploring, I walked to the bathroom where I encountered Alaia on the way, just getting out of the bathroom himself.

"Morning Aia."

"Morning Kross."

We exchanged greetings as I continue to the bathroom.

If you are wondering, then yes.

Turns out, Alaia, now I call Aia, is a really likeable guy, much like those two princes from Dragonariah, and we hit it off pretty well, especially during our dinner, or rather, during cooking.

We shared different ways of cooking and recipes that I knew from my old world that is literally nonexistent in this world, at the same time, I also learned in return as he shared his cooking knowledge with his own recipes.

And a fact that I have found, Elves eat meat, not just vegetables and fruits. The information on this is really misleading from all those sources(animes, novels, manga).

At first, it was rather hard as I get myself familiar with this world's ingredients, but it was still good. And this became even more easier as, the moment I started the cooking process, the notification sounded, informing me of finally acquiring my most awaited skill!

The skill that I have been wanting since from the beginning!

I finally acquired [Cooking]! With it, not only my hands, even my body became coordinated as I cooked.

Precise measurements and timings automatically appeared in my head in the form of informations and insights, and the result?

It was like a grand feast!

Us two alone finished off at least a fourth of my dragon meat reserve!

Well okay, mostly me as Aia only tried a bit of every dish we made.

Do note that those 'bits' are still a lot, just not like the amount I usually consume.

Anyways.

I finished bathing and continued what I still have to do. Brushed my teeth with a toothbrush I bought along with my PJs, cleaning and drying every parts of my body and all the necessary things to keep a proper hygiene.

I stood in front of the full length mirror and looked at the scarlet crest the size of a coin on my left chest, just above my heart.

It takes the form of a dragon head with V styled horn that looks like a tiara.

I must say though, it looks really cool.

I only noticed this last night when I changed into my PJs.

At first I thought that it was some kind of tattoo that came with my transformation, but according to the System, it seems that it is the mark left by Reah.

And to confirm it, I tried prying it with my mana, and I definitely felt Reah's aura emitting out of it.

Touching it a little as a smile crept on my face, I wrapped my head in a towel to dry my hair and got out.

I went back to my room and changed into my uniform that I put inside the wardrobe. After all, it would be a waste if I don't use it for something, right? Even though only for storing a single set of clothes.

I once again went out and headed straight to the kitchen, where Aia is already having his breakfast so I joined him.

The breakfast went smoothly with some nice talks, mostly about food.

Though I really find it strange that, a really slim dude like him is a foodie, and he's an elf for god's sake.

But meh, no matter. At least he's fun to be around with.

We walked to school and headed for our designated classroom.

Turns out, we're class mates, and so were the other representatives.

It appears that it have already been arranged for all the representatives to be in the same class, along with other local students.

The S class. The class of elites, or so what I heard it's called.

It appears that this class is where all the geniuses and prodigies all gathered.

The class where status and influence is nothing if you yourself aren't capable.

Some people arrived earlier than we did and were already seated.

I can already see the three from Dragonariah, chatting with other students and representatives that I recognized by face.

Aultrec is talking with two humans and one of the demon kind, Clarret is with someone with a big build who have animal features talking enthusiastically about something, but if if I make a guess, then it's most likely about fighting, 'cause I can litterally see those two's eyes burning with fighting spirit with their fists clenched.

' Man. At least I'm not that hot blooded... Though I must say that my fists are really itching...'

I shook my head and looked to where Reah is. Why?

Uhm... No particular reason...

'*Ehem*'

Well, she's talking with a group of females, giggling with bright smiles on their faces, which drew the attention of everyone in the classroom and threw their glances at their direction from time to time.

I walked alone to the side as Aia went towards his two companions from his empire. I sat in the right most corner, where the wind blew nicely and, with the window directly beside me.

And for your information, I didn't pick this seat because this is the "seat of protagonists" and what-evs', nope. Na-uh.

It's because of the beautiful view. Yup, that's it. Because of the nice and beautiful view.

After a few minutes of me staring in the far off distant scenery as my mind kept on drifting, I was suddenly snapped out of my thoughts by the call of my name. Then followed by a tackle that almost sent me and my 'attacker' on the floor.

"Kross!"

"Hey, hey, hey~! Careful there. You almost sent us both rolling."

I said exasperatedly as I looked at my attacker, who have been giggling from the beginning as she snuggled on my chest.

"*Giggling* I know that won't happen."

She said as she flashed me a bright smile.

'Ugh! My eyes! Too bright! Too bright! ... Wait, it was just my imagination...'

"*Sigh* Yes, if you say so. But, as much as I like to hug a pretty girl, can you leave the hugging for later? We're, kinda gathering attention here..."

I said as I looked around the class.

Gazes of envy were sent our way. Harsh as always I see...

I also saw Aultrec grinning with Clarret giving me a double thumbs up, which almost made me want to face-palm.

Looking over at Aia,

'*Sigh* Not you too~'

I saw my cooking buddy grinning as he gave me a thumbs up.

"Hm?"

My words finally reached Reah's ears as she hummed curiously and looked up, then... Her face burned bright red as she hastily arranged her posture and sat at the seat beside mine as she looked down and started twiddling with here fingers.

Hais. Good grief.

The atmosphere was becoming unbearable but fortunately, our savior has arrived just in time.

"Oh? It seems that you are already here. Well then, let's start immediately. Introductions will not be needed for the time being, you can introduce yourselves and acquaint with the others later during the lunch break. So please go back to your seats and we will start."

The one who entered last is a man who looks to be in his forties. With an average build and long black hair, currently wearing something that resembles a toga.

The class proceeded smoothly as the topic is interesting enough that even caught my interest, mainly because I don't really have precise knowledge of the workings of magic here, or what could even be considered common sense about magic, so this class definitely helped me in that area.

After two hours, another 'instructor' came in as the first one went to his next class.

Now this is the class that I've been looking forward to.

The Studies of Powers.

This time, the instructor is a woman who looks to be in her late twenties and introduced herself as Fina, though that's all she did before starting the class discussion immediately.

To sum it all up as it was quite lengthy...

Basically, this world's races all have their own unique, and special powers or abilities based on their races.

For Humans, they have their [Roots], which I already knew about.

For the Elves, they have their rituals called [Spirit Contracts], which is basically a ritual for establishing a contract with a spirit, this in turn will result in the contractor gaining an ability or two from the spirit they have contracted with, and the spirit in return will get stronger depending on how their contractors fare. Though this not only applied only to the elves, other spirit folks can also perform this ritual.

For the Demonkind, the have their so called [Pillars], which lets them connect with their ancestors and receive their ancestors' ability, which differs from clan to clan.

For Beastmen, they have their [Bloodline Inheritance], which let's them take on the full beast form of their bloodline whilst also gaining all the skills and abilities the beast of their original bloodline possess, noted that they are still in their full beast form.

As for us Dragons, we actually have two, which is really not that surprising considering how overpowered dragons are.

The first one is called [Evolution], the name itself explains it fully. It let's us of the dragon race to evolve to our peak form, which is called the Bahamut, which every dragonkin considers as the closest form us dragons can evolve to that is close to the Overdragon God, which my kin is worshipping. But this made me wonder, just how far can I evolve considering that I have [Unlimited Growth] given to me by goddess Minerva? And who exactly is this Overdragon God? These questions, I'll definitely think about at a later date. And maybe find some... things, to satisfy my curiosity. But my gut tells me that there's more to these than meets the eye, that this is only the tip of the ice burg and is still too far from the whole idea.

But anyway, let's get our minds away from those unanswerable things for now.

The second one is the most surprising, more overpowering than [Evolution] even.

It's called [Faux Embodiment], which allows every sentient dragons to create their own imitation, saying that it is a perfect clone is not too far fetched either.

This basically creates a new being with a piece of our own soul and blood, along with a tremendous amount of mana to create the vessel that would be in the shape of an egg.

Dragons then will have to supply the said egg a stable amount of mana to support its growth for over a month or less.

It is a long and tedious process, but it is definitely worth it.

When this said egg hatches, the dragon and his or her [Faux] as they call it, can fuse or integrate into one when it matures, doubling the dragon's power and overall stats!

This information made me ecstatic to try and make one myself immediately!

I'm not after the power upgrade thing it gives, but I'm after the fact that I can have my very own pet!

A dragon one at that!

I have already confirmed this with Reah and she happily agreed to help me with the process later and she even offered to let me see her [Faux]!

Hot damn I'm so excited!

-fin.
