It's not always Black and White

It's not always Black and White. Two potential lovers, who never realised how much they needed each other until they met. Bea, a black girl in a predominantly white school, believes that no one will love her and treat her as she should be treated because of the colour of her skin. What a f-cking night.

Bea's POV

What a fucking night.

Oh god, why the hell do I see Ryan next to me ?

Why is his shirt off? I mean I'm not complaning...

"Good morning beautiful,"

"You can't call me that."

"Why not."

"Because, I need to figure out my feelings."

"You can figure them out with me," He moves in closer

"No," I push him away, "You need to talk to Steph."

Josh walks down the stairs,

"Good morning guys,"

"Don't talk to her Josh."

"Oh, look who's talking?"

"What are you trying to say?"

"Oh nothing. It's interesting that you are always Bea's second option."

"At least I didn't fuck another girl, then give my girlfriend flowers the next morning."

"GUYS STOP."

This is fucking relentless.

"Sorry babe," Josh leans closer, "I just get mad sometimes."

"No. Both of you need to sort yourselves out."

I run upstairs to get changed

---------------------------------------------------

Josh's POV

"Look bro, I'm going to try and get Bea back."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"Why not-"

"Maybe because you cheated on her?"

"Ryan. Don't."

"I'm just saying the truth."

"Yeah, well thanks anyway."

--13.30pm

"Aww you guys came to lunch," I sit next to Bea

"Why the fuck are you sitting next to me?" She whispers gently

"Because you're my girlfriend."

"No I'm not."

"Well I want you to be-"

"Josh, we aren't doing this again."

"Oh, Bea are you fighting with Josh?"

"Grace, it's nothing." We say in unison.

"Alright. As long as it doesn't go anywhere."

"Yeah, and no more phone calls." Theo adds,

"Theo shut u-"

"No, Josh shut up. What phone calls babe?"

"It's nothing-"

"No Grace, ask him. These were the same phone calls that probably led to him cheating on me."

"You cheated on her?" She throws water in my face, "You lying, stupid dickhead."

The girls leave the table, now it's just the boys and the silence.

---------------------------------------------------

Bea's POV

"Bea, what happened with you and Josh?"

"Well, we were having a nice time together. Then he proceeds to tell me that he cheated on me"

They gasp.

"No. But the weird thing is, I carried on. I was kissing him and touching him and then I asked why."

"Oh hun, you should've known that Josh would do this" Steph said

In all fairness, I don't remember asking for her input. I don't even remember inviting her to the beach with Grace and I.

"I know, but then he was just deflecting and I called it off. I got MAD."

"Nooo, Bea." Steph and Grace pull me in for a hug.

"How's it going with you Steph?"

"Well...I don't think commitment is for me."

Of course it isn't.

"I just want to be open. When I was with Josh, it was on and off but I enjoyed having the flexibility."

"Steph, I think you need to talk to Ryan. Bea you need to talk to Josh."

"I'll talk to Ryan when I have time. Right now I want to take photos on the beach."

-10.45pm

I am drunk. I can just about see the sand on my feet.

I've had too many shots. Where is everyone, you're probably guessing?

Grace is with her boyfriend, Steph left with some boy, Ryan is hanging out with some girl and-

I watch as Josh dances around the club with this other girl. She's got long blonde hair that looks like it was blow dried straight from the salon and big blue eyes. I recognise her, they're both laughing and dancing around together, too close for comfort.

"He doesn't even know that I exist," I think staring at them. "And here he is getting all cozy with someone else."

I turn away, determined not to let it get to me, but then I catch sight of him bending down and putting his hands around her waist.

That's Melanie.

I strut over to Josh. I look confident, I'm as cool as a cucumber. Fuck- I am very, very drunk. Who would say that?

I couldn't resist making Melanie jealous-after all what's a party without a little drama? As I walked up to him, I could feel her eyes on me, watching my every move like a fucking hawk. I put on my best flirtatious smile and leaned in close to Josh,

"I want you," I say slurring my words.

His eyes lit up, and I knew I had him right where I wanted him.

His hands were on my hips as we danced. I could feel his breath on my neck and the heat of him through our clothes. His body pressed against mine. My legs were wrapped around his waist and he pulled me closer to him with every movement of the dance floor, our bodies grinding together in a way that was both exciting and arousing.

"You're making me lose control."

"You're so fucking drunk Bea."

He laughed and kissed my cheek. "That's what you want, right?" He gave me a little squeeze before letting go so that he could spin us back out onto the dance floor.

We danced another song or two, then took a break at one of the tables to rest our feet.

"Well, we've been dancing pretty much nonstop all night," I said. "So maybe a little break is needed. Maybe we should take turns standing behind the bar and handing out drinks."

He shook his head. "Not happening."

"You're drunk."

"I know, I want you."

"No, Bea I want to make things right."

--------------------------------------------------

Josh's POV

I just want to make her happy, I'm not going to take advantage of her.

I love Bea, I really do.

"Make things right," she leans closer, "In a bedroom."

I looked around the room. The place was packed and the music still thumped loudly enough to drown out any sound that wasn't right in front of us.

"I'm gonna take you home, okay?"

"Ok." She giggles, "I'm fine with that."

-2.30am

We're finally at home, and everyone's asleep.

"Ryan, where is everyone?"

She just called me Ryan. But I'll let it slide, she's drunk.

"Upstairs, asleep."

"I want my boyfriend. I want Josh-"

"I know, I know."

I pick her up and put her on the bed,

"Oh my, Josh it is you!"

"Yes, yes it is."

I love her-

"I have something to tell you-"

"No Bea, you're still drunk,"

"I want you, I only want you. But I'm scared."

"It's fine Bea. I love you,"

"I love you too."

-11am- Next Day

I'm cooking bacon for breakfast when she comes stumbling through, wearing nothing but one of my shirts. The shirt is big on her, which just makes the whole thing even funnier.

"What are you doing?" I ask, "I told you to stay in bed."

I smile. "Are you hungry?"

"Starving," she says, reaching for the bacon.

"Bea, do you know what happened last night?"

"Well, I know I feel like shit because of this stupid hangover."

"You were very drunk, and you said things,"

"Well, I've had some time to think Josh." She breathes deeply and then opens her mouth to speak,

"I want to give us a chance, but we need to take it slow."

"That sounds perfect Bea."

"What did I say yesterday?"

"What do you remember?"

"I just remember seeing that bitch, Melan-"

"Don't talk about my girl like tha-"

"Josh. You better not be serious." She pushes me as she giggles

"I missed this Bea, I missed you."

"Yeah, I know. I missed you too."

"So what's the plan for today?"

"I'm spending the day with my ex, the one that I'm still in love with."

"Funny."

"I'm being serious, we're going to the beach together."

"Aww, I'm not sure how I feel about you having Ryan as your best friend."

"I'm not sure about you and Steph sleeping in the same hou-"

"Fair play."

"What are you doing?"

"I'm probably going to hang out with Theo. Haven't talked in a while, I need to update him and tell him that I'm back with you."

"You don't sound too excited to tell him."

"I am, I just- I don't want to mess this up."

"You can never mess this up," She kisses me gently, "I have to go get dressed, Ryan's waiting for me."

---------------------------------------------------

Bea's POV

"Hey Ryan," I go in for a hug, "How are you doing?"

"I'm really good."

---------------------------------------------------

Ryan's POV

I'm not really good.

I don't know where my girlfriend went last night.

She didn't pick up my phone calls, didn't respond to my texts.

She left.
