Just When I Thought Things Were Going Great

"Yes," said Kenzie pumping her fist up, the gym door then opened,"Dylan, what happened out there, are you okay," said Mirabelle with fake sympathy as she walked through the gym door, apparently Kenzie didn't really see that it was fake because she her face said. "I told you she's nice," look. "Um Kenzie, Mr Simmons is about to announce the members of the new dance team. I'll stay here with Dylan," she said,"OK, be right back," she said before running back into the gym,"You know, your dancing is not that bad I mean for someone that used to be the size of a whale, I was surprised that the building didn't collapse with all your stomping," she said twirling her hair a bit."How come you were eliminated," I managed to say shakily,"It was the girl on my right that tripped me and made me miss a step, if not for that I would be there to get my spot on the team but either ways I own a spot on that team so don't think you can just walz your way onto my spot Xx jumbo, what a loser," she said and walked away. I walked to the girls locker room and took my backpack then bolted out of the gym as I passed beside the soccer field,most of the soccer players were in the gym so it was a few seniors that were on the field, they were sitting on the bench so their back was facing me, I could smell smoke from them as I passed behind them I doubt if they knew I was there because I was behind a wall that separated the bench beside the field from them,"Doug, we need a plan, I have a feeling he's onto us," said a hoarse voice,"We could try to cause a distraction so that he will forget," said another voice but this one sounded scared."Go, I'll think of something and don't forget about Mr J though," said the hoarse voice. As I heard someone get up I quickly looked around for a hiding spot because when he passes this place he would obviously see me there. At that very moment I heard Kenzie's voice,"I did it," she screamed immediately she spotted me, I crouched up and carefully went over to her. "Please can you at least walk over there with me," pleaded Kenzie for the seventh time as she stood at my doorstep in a tanktop and some shorts with a duffle bag on her shoulder,"Fine," I sighed,"Let me just grab a jacket," it wasn't really cold at all but I liked having something to fiddle with when I'm nervous. I ran to my room. and came back down with my faded denim jacket. Once we got to Mirabelle's house, I turned to go back home, when Kenzie pulled me back to her doorstep and knocked. "I told you no," I said but she refused saying,"You are not going to spend the rest of your day at home sulking." From her tone there was no point arguing so I just looked around, Mirabelle's house pretty much looked like mine except it was a bit bigger. As I was looking at their perfectly manicured lawn, the door opened, "Oh my gosh I'm so happy you could come over," she said excitedly at Kenzie then looked over at me,"Dylan so glad you could make it," she said with as much enthusiasm I have whenever I go to the dentist. She opened the door for us to come in, her house seemed a lot different compared to the last time I came over. It seemed more modern and trendier."Everyone is by pool," she said, pushing open the sliding door. For a small get together there sure were a lot of people in swimsuits which made it look more like a pool party. I felt very out of place in my denim on denim get up. The second we got there she grabbed Kenzie to introduce her to her friends aka the cool kids., leaving me alone beside the pool, I wanted to go and join them but it would make me look pathetic since Mirabelle obviously didn't want me around. I just took a seat on a lounge chair that was beside me. I felt kinda lonely looking around me. "If it isn't slip n slide," said a familiar voice, I looked to my side and saw the green eyed guy from school sitting beside me, I kept quiet not really knowing what to say,"Didn't expect to see you here," he said, I still kept quiet because I was really nervous that a guy was talking to me to the point that I couldn't look him in the eye. "Are you ignoring me?" he asked, "No," I managed to say, then we both sat in silence for a while when he got up and said," Can I get you a drink?" he asked, "Sure, some Coke would be nice," I replied, still not looking at him. He then got up and walked into the house. I got off the chair to stretch my legs and look for Kenzie, it was already getting dark so I couldn't see things that easily even though there were lights, I saw her across the pool with Celeste Dior, who was one of the most popular and prettiest girls in our school, she was a sophomore. I walked closer to the pool to get to her when I was suddenly pushed into the pool, then everyone around me started laughing, I was really embarrassed, I got out of the pool and started heading out, I turned back to see if Kenzie would help me but her saw her still laughing with the others.
