Track

In conclusion, Cyril understood one point: he should be careful of what he thinks as well as what he does.

Seeing him in a daze, the other two men kept an eye on him with caution. They still couldn't understand why he would slap himself so hard in the middle of a meal.

When Cyril raised his head, he found them looking at him from the corner of his eyes very 'discreetly' and was dumbfounded.

He cleared his throat and smiled. He did not defend his actions but casually changed the subject.

He asked Tibbath many questions regarding the place's atmosphere and facilities.

Even though he read all the 'rules and regulations', there would definitely be many 'underground rules' that everyone follows but doesn't speak of. He had to find everything before he could plan his future in this place.

After finishing the meal, he left Tibbath's place with Rian, and they walked around the place to check everything.

After scanning almost all of Ward 3, they returned to their den and continued their previous tasks.

"Brother Cyril," Rian called out to him while he was checking a few documents on his small desk.

Cyril raised his head, "Yeah?"

"How do you think I should earn more points?" After following behind Cyril for the entire day, he understood that Cyril was planning to earn points, disregarding the given tasks.

Since his tasks were mostly related to the sports he had never played before, he wanted some advice from Cyril regarding earning points as well.

The only task he could finish continuously to earn points was to run.

Yes, for every mile he ran, he would earn 5xp, while for every mile he walked, he would earn 3xp.

But where should he run? On this island, once he goes out of their den, he would face hundreds of scary-looking prisoners who wouldn't mind breaking his bones if the system would give them points for it.

He wouldn't dare to leave the den for the whole day and run around carelessly.

Just the thought alone was scary enough to send shivers down his spine.

He shared his thoughts and fears with Cyril and the latter thought about his predicament for a while.

In fact, he agrees with Rian's fears.

With Rian's stupid mouth - which did not have any barrier to filter out his thoughts - Cyril had no doubt that he would be dead within a couple of days if he faced the inmates there continuously.

Cyril looked through Rian's system and suggested, "Just build a track around our den. Don't run but walk on it for as long as you can."

Rian blinked his eyes and checked the shop. He found a few different types of tracks suitable for running.

There is a grass track, a sand track, a concrete track, and many such others.

Even if he wanted a field, he had to buy a bunch of these tracks and place them side by side to make them into a huge field.

He looked at Cyril and asked, "Brother Cyril, should I buy a few and just make a field? It would be helpful to play the other sports that way, right?"

Cyril shook his head.

"Why?" Rian asked him in doubt.

"There is not enough space," Cyril deadpanned.

"..." That seems to be the truth. Even if he bought the tracks, he did not have enough space to make a field.

"Umm, should I buy some land for myself to build a field?" After all, with his system and class, he definitely needs a field if he has to earn some points.

Cyril shook his head once again. He did wait until Rian questioned him before he spoke, "I have a couple of ideas. I will discuss those with you tomorrow after organizing my thoughts. For now, just concentrate on the track and earn points by walking."

Rian had already decided to trust Cyril and follow him. Hence, he did not question his decisions any further and agreed calmly, "Okay, Brother Cyril."

Saying that, he left the den, bought a few tracks, and placed them around the den.

It was already nighttime and the sky had turned dark.

He planned to go to sleep but for some reason, he did not feel sleepy yet.

Hence, he decided to take a short walk and try the new track he made for himself. This way, he could at least gain some points and level up faster.

Since he would sleep in a while, instead of walking, he ran. It would give him more points.

After a couple of hours of running, he was covered in sweat as he entered the den.

He saw that Cyril had gone to sleep already and he treaded softly so as not to disturb him.

With all the sweat, there was no way he could sleep. He had gone to take a shower before going to bed.

Once he was up, he saw Cyril was already up and looking through some files on his desk.

Rian did not understand a single word on those files. He also did not understand what exactly he was doing with all those papers.

Whenever he saw Cyril, he was always at the desk reading those papers or writing something on them.

"Good morning, Brother Cyril," He greeted him with a smile.

Cyril raised his head and smiled back, "Good morning. Looks like you slept well?"

Rian gave a toothy grin and nodded, "Yes. I ran at night and that helped me with my sleep."

Cyril nodded, "I saw the track you built outside. That was good.

"I placed your breakfast on the table over there. Finish it first and come to me. I will show you my plans, and we can discuss if you are okay with them."

Rian blinked his eyes, "Do I have to know all that, Brother Cyril? As long as you tell me to do something, I will do it anyway. You don't have to worry about my thoughts, right?"

Cyril chuckled, "Finish your breakfast first, and we can talk later."
