Chapter 9 The Spears Of Kingsland

"I was told the spears had arrived," the king spoke "it seems that it all went well, they didn't see it coming did they?" The king asked with a smile.

One of the men took off his helmet, it was the bald man. He took it off and stepped forward, the king saw his face a lifted his eyebrows, "You're injured, now tell me who'd be strong enough to injure the mighty Chris Blade, my own brother?" The king asked with an amused expression.

"Martha Wit" Chris said. The king frowned "Where is she" The king asked,

"She's dead" Chris answered 

"Where's the body" the king asked

"Still at kingsland" Chris responded calmly.

"Hmmmmm, and the boy?"". …. She would not say but I have an idea who he is" Chris answered after a bit of hesitation.

The king looked at Chris, stood up and took a stroll, walking from side to side in the throne room."fourteen years….... What exactly happened at Dawnville Chris? The king asked with a serious expression and deep voice staring directly at Chris Blade...….... 

Two days ago, during the attack on Dawnville. After the city was infiltrated, the Spears were intercepted by the army of Kingsland led by general Riker. They fought and we're overwhelmed by the Spears.

Martha Wit appeared to assist the army of Kingsland. She had made this place her home and would not want to run from it when it was in trouble.She came to the battle ground, she saw the spears, she walked forward, she had a frown on her face because she knew them, she drew her sword as she walked towards them. One of the Spears, Chris saw her and recognised her, he swung his spear at a soldier running at him sending the soldier rolling on the ground.

"Hello Martha" Chris said as he thrust his spear at Martha, she smacked the spear to the side with her sword,

"Hello Chris" Martha said as she ran forward, she knew she was at a disadvantage with distance, so she closed in on him, and went in for a strike at his head, but he ducked, she brought the sword down on him, but he put hips spear up and blocked the attack,

"So this is where you hid all these years" Chris said as he blocked another strike from Martha, she thrust her sword but he jumped back, he held the spear with both hands, one on the middle the other on the end, he thrust forward but she moved to the side, he kept thrusting and she kept dodging, he pulled the spear towards his belly, he spun around and used the force to swing the spear at her head but she held up her sword with both hands attempting to block the stike but she was knocked to the ground in the mud, he held the spear up and thrust down but Martha was quick and moved out of the way. "Where's the boy Martha?" Chris asked as he stepped back allowing her to get up.

"You think I'd let you get your hands on him, tell your king he's dead" she answered and she stood up, she held her sword up.Chris stared down at her,

"if you come back now he might forgive you, now tell me where the boy is Martha" Chris said,

"Do you think I'm stupid Chris, enough with this nonsense"". ....Hmph pathetic." Chris said and took a stance, Martha walked forward, then started running. She swung her sword sideways, he blocked it, she kicked forward but he caught her leg, she smiled and jumped and kicked his face with the other leg, she landed on the ground and ran forward. She swung her sword horizontally at his face and he stepped back and swung his spear and hit her shoulder knocking her down again and she fell, but when he touched his cheek and felt blood on his hand. "We were met with much resistance" Chris said "but it was handled easily, .... Until we met him"

"Iris?" King Steven asked with raised eyebrows,

"The boy. Iris. He seems to be….. touched by the gods" Chris said "he used the elements" Chris said removing the King's doubt.

"And what of Dawnville?"

"Conquered. I've already sent our soldiers to secure the place, it's ours now, if the king is wise he'll surrender, and if he flees... well, it doesn't matter "

"And the boy, you are sure he is the one?"

"Yes, I am certain. By the end of the battle, the massive flood,it.. it was terrifying" Chris said. King Steven sat back down on the throne and was silent for a while.

"If we could get him on our side. one touched by the gods." the king spoke in a hushed tone, but enough to be heard by others,

"I killed his mother," Chris said sternly,

"So?" The king responded with a frown,

"In front of him, we laid waste to his city and killed his comrades, I don't think he would join the ones who killed his mother." Chris responded smiling clearly amused by the king's ignorance.

"It doesn't matter," the king said "I want you to find him, alive and bring him to me, do what ever you have to do but make sure he's in one piece."

"And if he causes too much trouble?"

"How much trouble can a fourteen years old boy cause?" King Steven asked with a chuckle. "If he does cause too much trouble end him. I can make more, I want no loose ends"

"Yes my king," Chris said and bowed, then left.

Back at Dawnville.

"What are you thinking about Iris?" Captain Levi asked, but Iris just sat on the floor with his hands on his knees and head bowed not responding,

"Common man say something" Levi pressed on,"Did you see the look on the King's face? He's thinking of a way to exploit my power"  Iris said,

"Come on Iris you're reading to deep into things, he's just worried, he just feels that maybe with you we have a chance against king Steven or something, okay." Levi responded.

"Yeah. ... yeah probably. Well it doesn't matter, I'll retire when we get to Curtis" Levi's eyes widened when he heard this,

"Wait wait wait , hold on umn, Iris, the king still needs us, we don't know what will happen when we get there, the king of Curtis might take advantage of our situation Iris take a moment to breathe and think." Levi said to Iris with concern.

"I've made up my mind" Iris said with resolve and lifted up his head.A soldier came running inside,

"They've arrived" he screamed " the soldiers from Curtis have arrived".
