THE ACON MONSTER
I saw how Rowan's face turned the color of vinegar. But my annoyance didn't go away especially when I remembered his attack on Jevro during the fight against Sikriya. I quickly hide my presence and teleported behind him when suddenly the Department's emergency alarm rang.
When the alarm sounds like this, it means a monster attack. Deactivating my stealth, I heard Rowan gasp as he realized I was behind him. So did some viewers. Again, I used teleportation to get back to Jevro who was talking to Alfonso.
"Monster Attack? What level of monster is currently attacking?" I asked Alfonso.
He looked at me for a moment before looking at the alarm again. "Red Level Monster.." He stammered a little while speaking.
The alarm color inside the Monster Department is similar to the level of the Malemyns. If it is correct that the red alarm is currently sounding, then it means, the monster that is currently attacking the area is red level.
And that also means that the Malemyns will have a strong opponent today. I know that the Red level monster is strong, but since there are many Black Malemyns currently within the monster department, I also know that it will not be difficult for everyone to destroy the said monster.
"Prepare 5 black Malemyns and 10 red Malemyns!" Alfonso shouted loudly.
It was surprising that he did not give a name but the reaction of the 15 Malemyns was as if they already knew that they were called. It makes me wonder how they knew they were the ones Alfonso wanted to fight? My question was only answered when Jevro grabbed my Arm and pulled me back to the chair.
"They are the Malemyns who first became awakened and the first Malemyns to fight monsters. What I mean is, those Malemyns are skilled in fighting even though some are Red Levels." Jevro explained while looking in a direction.
I followed his gaze and saw Allen and Allyssa lined up in front of Alfonso.
"I see.. Does that mean that your two friends' powers awakened before you?" I nod as I ask him.
"Yes. And in that team, of course has Rowan. There he is." Jevro pointed to where Rowan was standing.
When my eyes landed on the man, I saw that he also turned to me. He looks so restless. Maybe it's because of our sparring that didn't end. However, everyone already knows who won the match. Because he didn't even react immediately even I was standing behind him.
"So, what power does the monster they will fight today have?" I asked again after I withdrew my gaze from Rowan.
"That, well, I have no idea. The department can find out what level and where the exact place of the monster's attack is, but it still can't find out what kind of monster is attacking. You know it's only been two years since the Monsters Department was formed. The technologies to know the corresponding details of the Monster are still lacking." Jevro explained.
He said it right so I just nodded. Since people around the world were first gripped by fear because of the news that monsters were attacking to kill people, geniuses also began to study how to track monsters. Right now, only the levels of Monsters can be detected by the technology made by some inventors.
"Aren't you going to join the mission?" I asked him.
If Jevro ever joins the mission, of course I will too. I decided to appear in the world of Malemyns to fully protect the man even though I don't know why I just wanted to protect him. Maybe what I'm feeling now is connected to what the mysterious voice said earlier.
If so, what is the secret between Jevro and me? Who is he and who am I to him before? I want to know the truth but I also know that now is not the right time. We both have a more important mission and that's what I should focus on.
"It depends on the situation whether I join the mission or not. Also, I have to pay attention to the guests especially and uncle and I know that you have Alistair's attention." When Jevro looked back at me, I saw the seriousness in his eyes.
I know they are worried about me. Both probably thought that if the US were to offer me a large amount, I would leave my own country just for the money. However, they also did not know the real reason why I appeared. Of course I won't tell them. I don't want the two to misinterpret the real reason. Im straight, but I'm not stupid enough to not think that people might think that I like Jevro.
"How about your Gwandy in case Alfonso pulls you?" I ask again.
"Allyssa will help me. We are not perfectly matched but the rate of matches between the two of us is high. Just so she doesn't experience backfire." He answered me.
I secretly held my breath as I clenched my fists. I want to tell him that the two of us are perfectly matched, but I'm afraid of his reaction. What if Jevro realizes that he is the reason why I am by his side right now? What if he avoids me after he finds out the truth? There were many "what if" running through my mind but I couldn't say them.
"I see." I answered sparingly.
"Yohan, you won't join the mission?"
Jevro and I both turned around to the one who suddenly spoke. It was Alistair. It turned out that the man had approached our place but I didn't notice because my full attention was on Jevro.
"No. But if the Head of the department calls me, I might." I answered.
The foreigner just nodded before sitting next to me. Currently, I'm sitting between two powerful beings as I hide my true abilities. And because of that, Jevro and I accidentally scraped our skin. It was surprising, because I could feel the electricity running through my veins in my body. I suddenly stood up because of the nervousness.
Did I release Gwandy healing power? My eyes widened as I swallowed. In just an instant, I teleported away from them and quickly reached the bathroom inside the department. I was still catching my breath while staring at my reflection in the mirror.
"H-he didn't feel it, right? I didn't release my power, right?" I mumbled.
I'm not ready for Jevro's reaction so I'm just praying that nothing happened during that accidentally touched. Maybe I'll start wearing leather long sleeves to hide my secondary power.
"Damn!" I cursed out of irritation.
I ran my fingers through my hair before teleporting back to where Jevro and Alistair were. The two are still together, although their foreheads are furrowed while there is a trace of surprise on their faces.
"Sorry, I had an urgent matter to attend to." I explained when I got back.
I just disappeared for a moment. It's only 1 minute. The two nodded but I noticed the serious look that Jevro threw at me. A few moments later, the man let out a deep breath before standing up.
"Lets go. Alfonso called me and said to take you on the mission to observe. He will take care of Alistair and his group." Jevro said as he walked towards the exit.
When I looked back at Alistair, the man was smiling as he slightly waved his hand to say goodbye to me. I just nodded my head in response before I followed Jevro.
"According to the report that Alfonso received, the monster that is currently attacking is an Acon. The body of the acon is that of a Lion, the tail is round at the end with thorns, the head is that of an eagle and has wings. " Jevro gives details as I follow him.
"And his power?" I asked.
"According to those who have witnessed the power of Acon. The voice of the said monster has the ability to destroy the mind of anyone who hears it. It can also move fast, and its tail can destroy a building. Ah! Forgot to say, the monster is really huge." Jevro answered
Huge.. I said in my mind. So in other words, the reward is also big if the battle ends and Acon is killed. But before that, I wonder if the Malemyns will be able to fight the monster? There are 10 red Level Malemyns included in the mission. What if they perish?
I shook my head one after the other. I can't think negative about the current situation. You may be wondering why the guests did not intervene about the monster attack. Well, that's because the department head didn't ask them for help.
"I want to see it with my own eyes." I said sparingly to Jevro.
"I know.. That's why I'm bringing you with me." Jevro answered. I didn't notice him looking at my arm as he rubs his own fingers.
