Returning to Life 3
Jack was a fan of the Fantastic Four before coming to the Marvel universe, but he liked the personalities of the other three more than Reed Richards, and it seemed that would remain the same.
"After that, Susan recovered a bit from the shock and so did Ben, then Reed announced to the world that you and Johnny had died in battle, fortunately, he only said that the Battle Sage had died and didn't reveal your secret identity," Peter said.
"The problem with Reed is that he's too smart, which makes things he doesn't understand become his flaws. Reed was right about the bugs of the Annihilation Wave, and he was also right about the time in the Negative Zone. Johnny and I were trapped there for 18 months," Jack said.
"But he disregarded my increased strength and the magic he doesn't know about. I managed to survive with Johnny using magic and flying away from the bugs. If he had opened the portal to check, he would have seen that the bugs weren't there and we would have been rescued," Jack said.
Peter listened to this in shocked silence. Jack spoke naturally, but he wondered what it would be like to be in an unknown place for 18 months facing bugs every day. Of course, Peter couldn't imagine that it was Jack who was tracking the bugs and could have left the Negative Zone several months earlier.
"So you've graduated from university, Peter?" Jack asked to change the subject.
"Yes, it was last month. Now, Gwen and I are graduates. We were already thinking about getting married, but you disappeared and so many things happened. But I already told her that I'm Spider-Man, and she accepted it and was even happy about it," Peter said.
"Of course, she's worried about my safety because she remembers how her father died because of a villain. But I convinced her that it'll be hard for me to die with my strength," Peter said excitedly.
"That's great, Peter. I told you to tell Gwen about your secret identity before, but since you're getting married, maybe now is the right time. Congratulations on graduating too," said Jack, smiling.
"Thank you, I'm glad you're alive. I'm also sorry about what happened a few months ago, oh, several months ago for you," said Peter.
"Don't worry about it, it was my fault anyway. I hope you can soon create a cure and a prison for villains, so we don't have to go through this anymore. I have to go now, Peter. Some of my friends still think I'm dead," said Jack, getting ready to leave.
"Wait! I forgot to tell you what happened in the last few months. Some heroes are teaming up to solve a big problem, and I was invited. Now, I was looking for a cube called the Tesseract," said Peter.
"What? You were looking for the Tesseract? Tell me more about it," said Jack, sitting down again to listen.
"Last month, a man came looking for me while I was fighting criminals. His name was Nick Fury, and he had an eyepatch. I thought he was a pirate in a coat. He said he needed to talk to me," said Peter.
"I talked to him because he didn't say who he was, and I thought he needed help. If I knew he was from the government, I would have left. It seemed like he was assembling a group of superheroes to fight alien threats," said Peter.
"I was curious about the aliens because I had heard Johnny talk about them, and I remembered our fight against the Sinister Six. I thought it was interesting to join a group of heroes like that," said Peter.
"Then, after a few hours, we went to a flying boat. They called it the Helicarrier. After a while, Iron Man, Captain America, Natasha Romanoff, and Thor showed up. They were other heroes from Fury's group and were bringing a man named Loki," said Peter.
"Iron Man you already know, he said he knew you too, Captain America is a guy from World War II who was frozen for several years and still looks young even though he's almost 100 years old.
Thor and Loki that they captured claim to be gods from Asgard, Thor has a hammer called Mjolnir, and he controls lightning and can fly, Natasha Romanoff is very good at fighting and is a spy," said Peter.
"After that, Fury said something about forming a group of heroes called the Avengers, in case we can't protect the Earth, we'll avenge it. I found it strange that Doctor Strange wasn't there, but Fury said he couldn't find some people," said Peter.
"Fury said something about them having to find a magical cube called the Tesseract that had gone missing, but they couldn't find Bruce Banner and Tony Stark had refused to be their consultant, so they would have difficulty finding the Tesseract."
"Then Iron Man did something and said that S.H.I.E.L.D. was hiding something, Steve Rogers found some weapons that looked like the ones used by Hydra in World War II and that S.H.I.E.L.D. was creating them."
"Then a discussion started with Fury saying he was using the Tesseract to create weapons because of Thor, and other fights began to happen. I realized that this group of heroes wasn't as good as ours that day and none of our group were in that group except for me," said Peter.
"A fight happened, after that someone attacked the Helicarrier and it almost fell from the sky, Iron Man fixed that, but Loki had escaped and the one who attacked the Helicarrier was called Clint Barton, another member of the group who had been kidnapped by Loki and was under mind control," said Peter.
"I thought this group was a mess and wanted to leave, but I didn't know how to fly and had to wait for a Quinjet to bring me back to Earth. Nick came and said that Phil Coulson had died in the attack and that he liked the heroes," said Peter.
"It seemed like I was the only one who didn't know this Phil Coulson because the others were upset, so Fury told me that I should help look for the Tesseract. I said it was better for them to look for the Fantastic Four because Reed could find it, and I returned to New York in a Quinjet," said Peter.
Jack, who was listening, seemed more serious now. From what Peter had said, the Battle of New York was about to happen. It seemed like destiny was working again, and while he was in the Negative Zone, what he had been waiting for happened, but he couldn't stop it.
