Schemes of the Gu Yue

I cultivated nonstop for over 2 months! My need for sleep and food was gone, so that was easy. I already had all the food of my Gu worms pre-made and they were fed by my brother. What took me an entire year before was completed in a mere 1 month. I broke through to rank 2 initial stage once more and kept going until I was forced to stop today.

The reason I stopped is because the people of my clan need my help! I was taken by Chi Shan to the clan leader's residence and we had a meeting. I thought this was going to be about "contributions", but I was wrong.

The clan leader and some elders were the only other people there and the clan leader said "A river swallowing toad has floated down our river's stream and is now blocking it. If the flow is disrupted too much, the mortals will have to face a flood and won't be able to fish or use the river without fear of being killed by the toad. It is a rank 5 Gu worm and, according to legend, "anyone who can make it flip over once it falls asleep with their own physical strength will earn it's respect, making it willingly leave". We need you to flip it over and chase it away."

I looked at Chi Shan with a haughty gaze and said "I will help to the best of my abilities! I can't promise results, but I will try to complete this mission even if it costs me Chi Shan's life!" The clan leader nodded his head with a weird expression and what followed next was nothing like what happened in the original story.

The trip was nothing much. The Chi blokes following me are too dumb to make conversation with. We finally arrived to where the toad was and oh boy was he massive!

I walked up to the living mountain and tried to pushing it, but "This chonky bastard is extra heavy. Guess I'll have to go all out, just this once." Even using all of my physical strength wasn't enough, which surprised me, but I didn't falter. If physics have taught me, then impact and resonance are good ways to get over a strength hurdle. I went back a couple of meter and watched the toad carefully, getting ready to run at it and push.

My idea here is to use momentum to push it. I will get a running start and transfer all the momentum in my body, along with my physical strength, in one giant palm attack and then roll it over onto it's stomach.

I rushed at it and, with my hands making a giant wet slap noise, hit its back in an upward angle and the thing began shaking like jello. I didn't let this opportunity slide and kept impacting onto its back, building up a strong enough resonance to make it start waving and began pushing him.

One... Ten... Twenty... Fifty... One hundred... Two hundred steps and then I stopped, because I heard a giant "CROAK!" And fell on my butt. The giant toad opened it's eyes and looked at me and then at the place he was sleeping at before. He did a- did that frog just nod at me?

He swung his arm with gusto and knocked out to the left side of the river. The attack was so fast I couldn't dodge it, but I didn't even get hurt. No injuries were sustained at all, except a small numbing sensation from digging the ground with my feet from the landing.

I am not retarded and won't let such a huge opportunity slide! This is a fucking rank 5 Gu worm worth 27k Gu points! Even if I have to take a risk, I won't let it just get away like that! Fang Yuan isn't even involved in this entire thing! He has no clue what is going on and probably doesn't even know a river swallowing toad is here.

I got behind the giant toad and kept as close to him as possible. Everything after that went as cannon and the giant beast drank the fucking river and spat out everything else.

While the two dumbasses around me were looking up at the giant hailstorm of fish, i instantly disintegrated the rank 5 river swallowing toad and got 27K Gu points! Wow, that was a whole lot easier than I expected.

The two Chi men stopped looking up and saw the huge mountain of a toad suddenly dissapearedm. Chi Shan looked at me and said "Where did the river swallowing toad go?"

I looked at him as if he were an idiot and point towards a direction and said "No here!" That made him mad enough to forget about even asking a single question and I hopped along with them back to the clan, receiving my negligible amount of money and getting back to cultivating.

I also got the 4th wine type of the wine I needed to refine the four Flavours liquor Worm Gu. The liquor worm was the main reason my cultivation went so fast, so I ain't giving it up! If I get a rank 2 one now, then my cultivation will soar.

I am using the heavenly essence treasure lotus Gu as a cultivation assistant. My primeval essence recovery speed is through the roof thanks to the rank 3 lotus and my 100% primeval essence talent and I don't even need to sleep or rest.

I still need to cultivate and get ready for when the war begins. If I don't have my cultivation high enough and my killer move perfected, then I can kiss my chances of surviving the war goodbye. Same for Chun Jack. He hasn't gotten any major Strength buffs since I gave him guts.

He can't use the Strength-A-Ten-Thunder-Boar Beast Bundle Gu yet, as he has 2 other beast phantoms in his body. My brother might be able to summon a boar phantom by concentrating, but he can't choose which one he summons and that can be EXTREMELY detrimental in a fight.

Imagine you need rank 2 peak battle strength to defeat your enemy, you summon your trump card and it turns out to be a rank 1 strength path Gu worm. You would 100% be dead, so I am going to make sure my brother doesn't die by only having him keep 1 beast phantom or 2 of similar strength.

For that I need to complete Guts. Guts might be a cool sword, but it is incomplete. The complete version of Guts is a tyrant creature strong enough to destroy rank 4 Gu masters on its own. One slash is all that is needed.

My killer move is different from Guts, as it requires a total amount of 4 Gu worms and is more crowd control than one hit damage. I don't have a lot of tools to work with here, but I plan on completing the preparations before the war truly begins.

"I would like to thank young Nem for his accomplishments. You have truly contributed greatly to our clan. It saddens me, but we can't reward your contribution properly, as our clan is tight on finances and I would like to even make a shameless request on behalf of our clan."

Cough! You remember how I said before the war begins? Ya I was kinda wrong on the whole war thing. It isn't starting soon, it is starting TOMORROW! Bruh! Couldn't this guy warn me sooner?

"I am not a greedy person and won't impose on clan leader for remuneration. I am willing to listen to clan leader's request and do my best to contribute to our clan."

The old men there nodded their heads, but the clan leader was frowning on the inside. He wanted to appear humble and spread the pressure on the clan, but I specifically pinned all the responsibility onto him, so if I don't get any reward, then his reputation will drop to nothing.

In this contest of reputation Gu, I am the only possible victor. The clan leader is in a completely passive state and can only be taken advantage of by me! Go ahead! Grovel at my feet and ask me for money! I have tons of it!

The clan leader suddenly stood up and bent his back with cupped fists in front of the Chi faction head, the Mo faction head, the medical hall grandma, the academy hall elder and, finally, to me and said "Our clan has gotten a lot stronger since a couple years ago and I believe it is time we make a contribution to our righteous side.

The evil Xiong clan has been recruiting demonic cultivators since ago old and even appointed the son of a demonic Gu master as the clan head! Such a disgrace to the righteous path shouldn't exist!

I am requesting the elders here to lend me their strength and help in exterminating the evil, that is Xiong clan! I Know young Nem isn't a faction head, but he has great prospects and can become a future elder of our clan. I have faith in him and believe he will be appointed as one of us, so I have decided to alleviate his status to young elder."

Shocked gasps sound through the conference hall and everyone started murmuring about this opinions.

The scheme of the old clan leader continues. Who doesn't want to be clan leader? All of these old men and women want to take the position of clan leader, so why would they agree to letting off the clan leader?

They can directly kick him to the curb and stomp on his reputation and dignity if I stay as a normal clansman and give up my resources, so they are voicing out their complaints to sway the clan leader, but...
