The young teacher had even used honorifics to refer to Daniel, but Daniel could still see the troublesome glint in the man's eyes. He stood up with a sigh and schooled his expression.
"Hello everyone, my name is Daniel Ban of the Highsword Clan." Daniel said curtly with a small smile. Many eyes were on him as he spoke, and he made sure to look charming and friendly.
The eyes of the young teacher curved up into crescents when Daniel introduced himself. "Welcome, Daniel. It is great to have you. Someone who had managed to get into our prestigious Swordschool even after we have finished accepting students for the year must surely be exceptional. I hope we learn from you as much as you learn from us." The teacher showered Daniel with praise, and it took all Daniel had not to let his face crumple up. Beside him, Han held a hand up to his mouth to hide his laughter.
Daniel wanted to kill himself. This young teacher was just painting a big, red target on his back! Already, he could feel several hot glared boring into his back and the sides of his face!
"Just for you, I shall reintroduce myself." The man said. "My name is Vincent Miguel. You may call me Vince or Master."
It was customary for most people to refer to their teachers as Master. But Daniel had not expected Vincent to be so casual and laid back to even allow people call him by his first name.
"Please, sit down." Vincent told Daniel, and the latter did so, giving Han a side glare to shut the spiky haired teen up.
A few moments passed as Vincent arranged the items on his desk before he looked up at the class. There were about a hundred or so students in the class, so they were quite sizeable.
"Ahem, as you all know, I teach the theoretical side of fighting with swords. However, I will still have you perform some practical exercises. However, today is not one of those days." He announced.
"Awww!" The students simultaneously let out groans of disappointment.
"Tomorrow, on the other hand!" He suddenly continued, and everyone sealed their lips. "Will be a practical test! You will be required to act out all the things I have taught you so far, and I will give you a simple evaluation after the class." Vincent said with a smile, his eyes turning up into crescents once again.
Chatter immediately erupted around the room but Vincent did not stop the students from talking, instead, he wanted them to talk amongst themselves.
"Can you run me through on what you guys have gone over when I was not around?" Daniel turned to Han.
"Eh, sure. After we're done for the day." Han shrugged and looked around. He was not friends with many people, so he did not have anyone to talk to aside from Daniel.
"Daniel." Just then, someone came over and called Daniel's name from his side. He turned around, surprised and was met with Wendy. The girl had her hair packed into a ponytail and she had a determined look on her face. The chair to Daniel's left was empty, so she quickly took it.
"I overheard you talking, sorry. If you want, I can also help. There are other classes aside from this one. I can help you catch up." She offered.
"Oh! That would be nice!" Daniel responded with a grin. He had expected her to still be sour over her loss against him the previous day. He had even suspected her of putting him with Han when he first thought that living with Han would be hell.
"That's good. When will we meet?" Wendy nodded her head and smiled.
"Um, is maybe three in the afternoon okay?" Daniel thought for a bit before responding.
"That's fine." Wendy agreed.
The trio soon focused back on Vincent when the man started up his session. His class lasted for two hours before ending, and that was all for the day. There was only a single class each day, which allowed the many students of the Nine Peaks Sect to have enough time to themselves to train and practice their swordsmanship.
It was with proper training, as well as a solid foundation, that Swordmasters prospered and bloomed. The Nine Peaks Sect had struck a balance between comfort and rigorous training. They knew just how hard to push an average student in order to squeeze out the potential in them. It was through this strict but flexible regime that the Nine Peaks Sect had earned its famous prestige as one of the best Swordschools on the Continent.
Vincent brushed over his previous teachings briefly for the sake of Daniel, before continuing from where he had stopped in the previous class. While these were mostly basic things, Daniel was still greatly invested in the class. The ill patriarch of the Highsword clan had personally taught him most of these things, so he already knew them like the back of his hand.
