Chapter 37: Gunner North.
A couple of hours later, Kit snapped his computer closed. He rubbed his tired eyes and stared at the empty nothing in front of him. He was still damp and still in a dark room. He reached for the towel that Dara had brought him before she left to put his luggage away and make plans for tomorrow.
After scrubbing the cloth back and forth over his hair, he stood from his seat and surveyed the dark library in front of him. It was now after midnight, and he was ready for sleep. Actually, what he wanted was something to eat, a hot shower, and then a bed, but since he still had no electricity, he figured all he would get on that list was the bed.
Stumbling toward the exit, Kit held out his cell phone and used the screen as a light. He had just reached the door when a glow came on next to the desk. He turned and stared at the desk lamp. The light was almost a shock.
Did the electricity turn on by itself? Maybe Frank or Dara had fixed something.
