Feeling Guilty

Faith researched how to use the pregnancy kit. Faith learned if she saw the plus sign, it indicated she was pregnant. If Faith understood, if she saw the minus sign, it meant she was not pregnant. Faith is taking the pregnancy test because she lost her purity without protection and was not on birth control. Faith could not remember if she consented to have Freddy Black release his seminal fluid inside her.

Faith did not want to become a mother at sixteen, especially to a child from a person she did not love. Instead of using the bathroom near her room, Faith decided it was better to use her parent's bathroom to urinate on the pregnancy stick. Faith wanted to see the result of whether she was pregnant or not.

Faith was nervous about the result, whether she was pregnant or not because she felt lost either way. If Faith became pregnant, her parents would notice an enormous appetite because Faith is about looking great and eating healthy. Faith's parents would spot her stomach since Faith does not believe in being overweight. Faith thinks everyone should work out to feel good about themselves and their appearance. If Faith did not get pregnant, she would have to have her parents take her to the doctor for not having protection. Faith is afraid of being exposed to viruses or diseases.

Good fortune was on Faith's side because she got the desired result: not being pregnant. Faith shed tears of happiness because she was not pregnant. Faith also cried some tears of sorrow and remorse. Faith still requires getting tested for any sexually transmitted diseases and viruses. Faith was considering informing her parents that she was no longer celibate. Since Faith was irresponsible for having no protection, it made her worry about her future relationships.

Faith knew that being uncommunicative would cause her parents to become suspicious of her. Faith had always been open about telling her parents everything, even if the consequences were awful. Little did Faith know that her parents felt something was off because she was quiet doing meals when they usually discussed their day. Faith's parents did not care what their daughter may have done if they could talk with each other as a family.

Faith's parents' names are Calloway Bruce Summer and Brooklyn Maddie Summer. At one point, they started questioning themselves: when did they stop communicating as a family? Only a few days ago, everything was fine between them as a family. But then, Calloway and Brooklyn started noticing their daughter's strange behavior; it reminded them of their childhood when they kept secrets from their parents around Faith's age. Faith had never kept anything from her parents before, and she felt terrible about doing so.

There was a time when Faith needed money to buy some clothes and tampons because she ruined her clothes when she had her period. So, Faith was embarrassed to ask for money; she snuck into her parents’ room and took a one-hundred-dollar bill. Faith's parents just told her when she needed anything to ask them because they would have understood and given her the money.

Faith’s parents, Calloway and Brooklyn, never told their daughter how they were as teenagers. Calloway and Brooklyn were always creating trouble or getting in trouble. Calloway and Brooklyn were in a rebellious phase, too, where they did not want to take orders from anyone. Calloway Summer went to jail for aggravated assault. Before Brooklyn Maddie Fairfax became Calloway's girlfriend/ wife, they disrespected her by calling her hussy, promiscuous, and other offensive words.

The police got called to the scene because Calloway was taught to respect girls growing up. Calloway does not tolerate someone disrespecting his potential partner/spouse. So, Calloway grabbed one of the guy's arms and did a straight armbar. Unfortunately, Calloway broke the guy's arm when he did his technique. Calloway punched the guy repeatedly until he went in and out of consciousness.

Calloway, at the time, was unaware that Brooklyn was a submissive girl when they met. Before Brooklyn had met Calloway, Brooklyn thought she was worthless and not worthy of love. Brooklyn was ashamed that she was submissive and complied with any request given to her sexually. Brooklyn wished she had met Calloway sooner and had waited for him to lose her innocence. Calloway was aware that Brooklyn had lost her purity at thirteen years old. Calloway was unaware that Brooklyn was a submissive girl who obeyed every command of every guy except him.

Brooklyn feared that if Calloway learned about her past, he would not value or respect her as he does now. Brooklyn is very timid and scared of saying no because she remembers a time in her youth when her mom used to get hit when she said no to her dad. But on the other hand, Brooklyn did not want to lose her friendship and possible marriage with Calloway because she valued that a lot.

Calloway was the first person who treated Brooklyn as a person and did not see her as a property that belonged to him but as a human being. From that moment on, Brooklyn told herself she was worthy of respect and love and needed to find her self-worth to be treated with respect. Brooklyn had seen some inspirational quotes on how to be confident and not be afraid. One of the quotes she found came from the bible book of 2nd Corinthians chapter twelve, verse nine, "And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. "Therefore, most gladly, I will rather boast in infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me."- New King James Version. The other quote that inspired Brooklyn came from First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt: "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do things you think you cannot do."

When Brooklyn decided to tell Calloway the truth about her previous life, she felt guilty. Brooklyn felt if she had told Calloway earlier in their relationship, Calloway would have felt tremendous pain other than feeling like a knife in the back. Even though Calloway knew Brooklyn was not a virgin. Calloway did not feel he got stabbed in his back because Brooklyn was not a virgin but a person who slept with many guys and had never been straight with him about her life until now. Calloway was always straightforward when he told Brooklyn she was the first girl and had lost his purity with her.

Calloway and Brooklyn took their daughter Faith to the doctor's office even though they had no idea why they were doing so. Calloway and Brooklyn thought it would make sense to speak to Faith about their adolescent years so Faith could talk to them about what she was feeling and going through. Calloway and Brooklyn were surprised that sharing with Faith did not work but made Faith scarred instead. At sixteen years old, Faith did not want to hear about her mother, Brooklyn, being promiscuous when she was young. Faith also did not want to know that Calloway's father went to jail for beating the crap out of a person. Calloway was overprotective of Brooklyn, who ended up being the love of his life; as parents, Calloway and Brooklyn wanted what they thought was best for their daughter Faith. Faith is figuring out her sexuality and learning about who she is.
