Chapter 3

Year 76, April 8th

Today is the day, the day the academy starts for new young shinobi who aspire to be strong. I was excited for this though I knew how boring it would be because of my mind.

I was just excited to meet the characters we all know and love.

I got up and immediately got ready and my parents were also ready to go.

We headed out towards the academy and when we got there, there were a lot of kids and of course I saw all of the cast with their parents as well. I saw Naruto on the famous swing and walked over there.

"Hey! What are you doing all alone?" I asked curiously even though I already knew.

Naruto looked up at me then looked around to see if I was speaking to someone else and when he saw nobody there he pointed towards himself and asked. "Are you talking to me?"

"Yeah who else would I be talking to? The air?" I replied sarcastically.

"Ohh umm…I'm just here for the academy and I don't really have anyone." Naruto said sadly.

"What's your name?" I asked, raising my hand.

"Umm it's Naruto Uzumaki, what's yours?" Naruto asked.

"It's Karma Kato, do you want to wait with me and my parents? I also don't have any friends so you would be the first." I said with a smile.

Naruto looked unsure, probably afraid they would judge him but we're all Uzumaki's so I know they won't.

He agreed still and we walked back to them.

"Hey mom, dad look I made a new friend." I said as we reached them.

"That's nice dear, what's his name?" My mom asked.

"It's Naruto Uzumaki." I said and then my parents looked shocked rightfully as it's been a while since they heard that last name.

(AN:Karma's parents have not heard the rumor about Naruto as they have their own things to do, also they wouldn't have cared even if they did.)

See a long time ago I guess that ran away and changed their names, or at least that's what I was told.

"Ohh really, who are your parent's kids? We might know them." My father asked.

Naruto's look saddened even further.

'Great job dad 10/10.' I thought.

"I don't know my parents, apparently they died during the Kyuubi attack six years ago." Naruto replied. Looking at my parents with my eyes and other senses immediately I could tell something clicked inside their heads.

'Huh? They knew Kushina of course. I also expected that I just never knew.' I thought to myself.

"I'm sorry kiddo I won't mention it again. Come on, let's just wait for the ceremony to start." My dad said as he brought Naruto closer.

We didn't have to wait long thankfully as the Third Hokage soon came out and started to talk. My eyes instantly noticed his powerful chakra still brimming with power even at his old age.

"Ahem, I hope everyone is doing well today and I'm proud to announce the new class of young shinobi who I know will one day shape this world…" Hiruzen continued his speech and I toned it out as it was annoying to hear.

After the speech all the kids lined up to be given their class number.

Eventually both me and Naruto got ours and I said bye to my parents for the day.

(Third Hokage POV)

'I saw Naruto with Makumo and Rai's son, what was his name again…right Karma. It's good that Naruto befriended him, it'll be nice for him to be closer to his family.' I thought as I got back to the office.

Though once I sat down a couple barged into my office.

It was Rai and Makumo Kato.

"How could you not tell us Kushina's child lived! She was my sister!" Rai exclaimed loudly with anger.

I pinched the bridge of my nose in annoyance as I knew one day this would happen.

"I couldn't tell you. I had to keep it a secret." I said seriously.

"Why?!" Rai yelled.

I hesitated for a brief moment debating whether or not to tell the truth, but then I thought they deserved to know.

"Because of Danzo, when Naruto was born he was interested in the boy due to his status as a Jinchuuriki and an Uzumaki. If Naruto had gone to you guys immediately he would've figured out that you were Uzumaki's as well and then your son would've been a target as well, despite what I say and do I know Danzo well. I couldn't risk it so I chose to hide the truth, though I'm surprised it took this long for you guys to find out." I explained thoroughly.

Rai and Makumo looked conflicted; they knew I was right in the end.

Rai just sighed and said. "Yeah at the time we wouldn't have been able to protect them both. But now things are different, we would like to take Naruto in to live with us." Makumo agreed that the time was right and Naruto needed a family.

'They are both very powerful shinobi and it would be good for both Naruto and Karma to have a sibling-like relationship.' I thought to myself, the only downside would be Danzo but the pros far outweigh the cons.

"Ok I agree as well from this day on, Naruto will be a part of your family. Would you guys like to change your surname back to Uzumaki and be recognized again as the Uzumaki clan?" I asked as a courtesy, it would also be good for the village as well.

Rai and Makumo smiled and both agreed.

(Back to Karma's POV)

'Wow that was a lot to take in, of course Danzo is the root of all this. I need to find a way to take care of him. But at least something good came out of it.' I thought to myself happily.

Of course I listened and I could tell my parents were angry I could literally smell it. So when they left I followed their movements.

Thankfully that whole interaction didn't take long so me and Naruto were still waiting for class to start.

We chose the seats closest to the window. I liked to view the world.

Everyone had also come in as well, some people I didn't recognize and weren't worth much based on what I saw. I would say the most powerful student excluding me was Sasuke and by a lot.

His chakra wasn't huge or anything just more potent which I usually only saw with people who trained.

Of course after him were the clan kids, then Naruto who was covered in chakra so huge and powerful but unstable.

While in thought our instructor finally came in.

"Hello everyone my name is Iruka Umino and I'll be your instructor for the next six years. The first week will be an introductory period where we will introduce to you everything you will learn throughout the first year. Like Taijutsu and physical courses, Ninjutsu courses, and Genjutsu courses. Of course there will be subclasses for you to take if you want to specialize in anything but that will be later so now let's get started." Iruka started to explain the various subjects we'll be learning and I took in everything just in case the manga or anime didn't explain everything.

Like that time flew by and the first day at the academy was over.

Naruto was going to go home but I insisted that he come to my house.

When we got home my mom and dad looked like they were ready for a talk, and that's exactly what happened.

I won't bore you with the details as I already knew but the sum of it is that Naruto will now live with us, my family is changing our last name back to Uzumaki and we are going to be recognized as a formal clan with my father being clan head.

Safe to say Naruto cried for a while as he finally had a family and I almost cried as well.

With that everyone went to bed as I stayed up thinking about the future, I already changed things so much but honestly I'm not worried just curious about how things will go.
