Chapter 23- You are second in command

Simon looked at the feast in front of him. There were really not many opportunities for someone would get to eat something like this.

The long table was filled with a grand and delicious-looking feast. The aroma of the food was really good too. If a hungry guy were to be offered such food, he would pounce at it.

A hungry man might pounce at normal food too, leaving that Simon looked at the people present.

The black dragon who was eating steak, the cats who had sauce all over their lips, and Cale who was sipping wine.

Simon also took the tableware as he began to eat.

A few minutes earlier, Hans informed Simon that Cale was calling him. Simon went to check him out and was surprised.

The novel had underestimated Cale's lifestyle. Luxurious? No this was super duper Luxurious. Simon had seen such quality of food very rarely in both of his life.

After a few moments of surprise, Simon calmed down and sat. He talked with Cale for a bit. Cale opened his mouth.

"Hey, Can you use sound cancellation magic?"

The dragon finished eating the steak and looked at Cale. Suddenly, A blackish mana appeared and disappeared. Cale smiled as he turned towards Simon.

"Do you know why we are here in the capital?"

Simon replied with a 'Yes'.

Cale continued.

"In the King's Birthday, Those bastards will intervene. They will plant Mana bombs around the Plaza, which will result in the death of many."

The dragon's expression changed he Cale mentioned Mana bomb. It was an expression of interest. Simon and Cale both noticed it.

A short silence followed as Simon was still drinking. Simon sipped some wine and looked at Cale.

"What are we going to do?"

Cale smirked.

'I really like this punk's way of thinking.'

"It's simple. We have to dismantle the magic bombs."

Simon looked at the dragon and their eyes met. The dragon gave him a look that said 'What?'. Simon just shrugged and looked towards Cale.

"Anything I have to do?"

"Nothing much. When I am with the other nobles, You take care of anything that happens. I can't think about things when I am stuck with the other nobles."

Simon nodded and continued eating. What Cale just said can be simplified into.

'You are second in command. Or, You are in command whenever I am absent.'

It showed that Cale trusted Simon greatly.

Cale also started to eat. The cats were giggling from time to time and sometimes even the dragon joined them.

After eating for some time, They all heard a loud knock on the door. Simon turned around and smirked slightly. The dragon turned invisible as the Sound Cancellation magic also wore off.

The cats also washed their faces and started to act like normal cats. {See the comment}

Cale was slightly frowning. He stood in front of the door. He had a really bad feeling.

'Is it Choi Han? No, It shouldn't be. It can't be.'

However, Opposed to Cale's thoughts, It was indeed Choi Han. He had a look of distress. Cale opened the door and Choi Han immediately came in with Lock.

Simon could see the expression on Choi Han. It was of worry, panic, shock, confusion, etc. But, Simon didn't miss the bloodstains on Choi Han.

'Some details are different from the novel I see.'

Simon was thinking about various things but held the expression of worry. He also observed Rosalyn who had a slightly cold look.

'It was really different from the original.' Cale thought. The BoAH was pretty much messed up. Most of the details were changed. But, Cale didn't have the luxury of thinking about such things.

He immediately ordered Choi Han to lay Lock on a bed. Choi Han followed his orders and Cale shouted Han's name.

Choi Han was still panicking and asked Cale many things.

'What happened to Lock? Is he going to be fine? Is this permanent?' and so on. Cale internally clicked his tongue as he explained the situation to both Choi Han and Rosalyn.

Simon went near Lock and took Lock's hands. Simon's hands were cold. They were cold. He wasn't a kind protagonist. He had been holding a bottle of cold wine until now.

Lock's expression changed as he flinched violently. Still, Simon checked Lock's pulse. Simon was no doctor but had basic health knowledge.

It was something he learned about the hard way. After checking Lock's pulse, He looked towards Cale as he spoke.

"His pulse seems fine. Although his heartbeat is probably rising, It should be the result of the Awakening you just mentioned."

Cale nodded and walked towards Lock. Simon had checked Lock's pulse because he needed to be cautious.

Till now, Many things changed. What if Lock actually died here? Choi Han would go psycho for a moment and the plot wouldn't even exist.

Simon also wouldn't let a kid die right in front of him. It was too much. He would do the best in his abilities while knowing his own limits.

Lock's breathing was ragged as he huffed. Lock was really tall, Simon would have never believed that Lock was 13 years old if he hadn't read the Novel.

Cale calmed Lock down and Hans finally arrived. With Cale's order, everyone went to the training grounds.

As in the original Novel, Lock went berserk as Simon witnessed the process. Reading and seeing are truly two different things.

Lock was shaking like he was having a seizure. His arms, legs, his entire body was shaking. Lock was growing claws. Very sharp claws that belonged to a wild animal.

His fur also started to grow as he became even taller than before. Lock started growling and shouting too.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh."

The pain was greater than what Simon had read. It looked like Lock was suffering more. Seeing this Choi Han and Rosalyn had serious expressions.

They slowly moved towards Lock, who was still growling in pain. As in the novel, Lock suddenly stopped moving for a split second and attacked Choi Han and Rosalyn.

Choi Han dodged the strike and brought his Aura out. He used it to defend himself and to restrain lock without hurting him.

Rosalyn also similarly used her magic.

After a few minutes, Lock was still attacking while Choi Han and Rosalyn were shouting at Lock. Cale opened his mouth.

"On Hong. See and observe lock. See his movements. They are the instincts of a beast person. Remember his every move and be sure that you can kill someone like him. You too. See how Rosalyn uses her Mana to not hurt lock."

The cats and dragon looked at Cale and began observing the fight. Simon also told them.

"If you can't kill them, It's fine. Know how a beast person moves on their instinct. If you know that You can easily get away from them. Remember that surviving is the most important. You can always fight back later."

Cale also spoke.

"Yes, Retaliation is important but it can wait. Always learn to get revenge if others harm you or your family. But, Survival is the most important. You can always smack them in the back later."

The cat had stars in their eyes as they went closer to Cale. The dragon just remained silent but he had a look that said 'I understand.'
