They say, don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened and that's what Ellie was trying so hard to do as they were driving over to the airport.
She took the beautiful scenery of the twin in, the lush jungle, Jason's coffee farms the small stores, everything.
Without realizing Ellie had become attached to this place and she realized how ungrateful she was being in the beginning when she didn't appreciate it here due to petty reasons like not having the internet, being away from her job (which she was exhausted from) and being bored which she wouldn't have been if she just tried to appreciate the beauty of the place she was put in rather than treat it as a punishment.
She was glad that she realized it soon enough that this was an opportunity and had a the time of her life in this town of Del Norte.
