Chapter 1- A whole new world

Wet and warm.

I jerked, startled by the sudden change of environment.

'Where am I.' I thought to myself, panic settling in like flood.

I take in my surrounding, trying desperately to figure out were exactly I was this time. It didn't take me too long though, their are only so many options available.

'A womb, I must be in a womb.' I thought. 'It's a lot warmer than I would've thought.'

Odd beeping noises emanated from all around me as I lay in the liquid cocoon. Slowly, almost tenderly, I sensed the fluid draining away, allowing me to finally open my eyes, revealing an unexpected clarity of vision.

'I thought babies weren't supposed to see clearly,' I muse, bemused by my newfound sight. 'Or was I misinformed? Perhaps it has to do with my quirk.'

It was leaning that way, the more he studied his surroundings, his eyes seemed to capture light a lot better than his old one did.

'An eye quirk.' I thought, 'Maybe I got sharingan, now that would be op.'

And then, with a suddenness that startled me, the womb was cut open, light flooding my vision like a celestial burst. Blinking against the brightness, I squinted as giant-sized, gloved hands reached in to cradle me. Soft fabrics rubbed against my skin, cleansing the remnants of amniotic fluid.

I crack open my eyes, trying to slowly adjust to the light.

The hands place me into a cradle, wooden bars keep me locked, I wince as I try to make sense of what's going on. I peer past the cradle and back in the direction the man brought me, instead of a cut open corpse as I had anticipated. I saw a peculiar rubbery tank that seemed to me to mimic human skin tone.

'What in the Frankenstein is going on?' Shock and confusion well up within me. The man who had delivered me, who I assumed to be a doctor of some kind, had a peculiar bluish tinge to his face. He seemed unfazed by all of this.

'Is he some kind of mad scientist?' I wondered, 'Oh God I hope not, those guys are crazy.'

The doctor called out another person I had just now noticed, "Go get the swaddling clothes for the Deus puer." He snapped, waving away the smaller figure like a particularly annoying fly.

"Y-yes Docere." The figure stammered, "Right away."

Unperturbed, the 'Docere' focused on a wrist-mounted device, typing unusual characters into a holographic projection. Eventually the teenager returned with the clothes, but he hesitated, when observing the look on the Docere's face.

"Do it yourself, you fool." the Docere scolded, disdain dripping from his words. "What is the point of an adiutor if you cannot assist me in my work?" The assistant cast his eyes down, clearly fearful, prompting the Docere to sneer and dismiss him.

As the boy approached, I couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy, he looked practically on the verge of tears. His visage, ashen and tinged with blue, betrayed his fear and uncertainty.

'Perhaps they're related.' I concluded, 'I remember those related tended to have similar quirks.'

The boy sniffed as he began to carefully wrap him as though his life depended on it.

'And perhaps it did, who knows the true relationship between the two, obviously this is a very different culture from what I'm used to.'

Curiously, as the boy finished swaddling me, he bowed to me in deference before retreating cautiously, as if afraid to expose his back.

The 'Docere' continued to ignore him, still busy on his device. Time passed, just as I was beginning to grow annoyed with the lack of answers, an abrupt hissing noise sounded, a few feet away. I glanced towards the noise, stepping in through the door were two striking individuals entered, radiating an air of authority and grace.

They appeared conventionally attractive, in stark contrast to the Docere and adiutor, who themselves looked too elongated to be called handsome, the two both stood a full 2-3 feet taller than the Docere and adiutor.

"My Lord. My Lady." the Docere immediately exclaimed, he bowed low. "You honor me with your presence."

The man was like an adonis, dark honey skin with blond hair, and bored dark brown eyes, he donned a white toga adorned with golden accents. A symbol rested on the left breast of his toga- a raised red spear with golden liquid flowing from the tip.

The woman possessed black hair, with similar honey-colored skin, and brilliant golden eyes. She was attired similarly to the man, though she wore a stola instead of a toga.

The woman spoke first, her words come crashing down on me like a tidal wave, her voice loud yet soft.

The woman directed her attention to the Docere, offering a warm smile as if just realizing his presence. "You have served us well, Docere Felix," she murmured, turning to the man beside her. "Hasn't he husband?"

"That remains to be seen," the man replied with a measured tone.

The woman rolled her eyes playfully at her husband and continued, "What my husband means is that our child is adequate, more than adequate, in fact."

She approached my crib, her smile bright and welcoming. Gazing down at me, she spoke, "Welcome to the family, my little Titus. We've been waiting for you."

....

"How far?" She asks.

I grin, gesturing towards the distant tree atop the hill. "As far as that tree."

"And back?" she presses, a playful glint in her eye.

I consider her question for a moment. "No, unless you're up for it?"

She deliberates briefly before shaking her head. "No."

"Alright then." I concede, preparing to set off.

But just as we're about to dash forward, I halt abruptly.

"Diana," I murmur, my gaze fixed beyond her, a hint of urgency creeping into my voice. "Behind you."

She arches an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips. "Nice try, Titus. Let's stick to the race, shall we?"

"No, really, Diana," I insist, my heart racing. "I'm serious this time."

She hesitates, curiosity getting the better of her, before slowly turning her head.

And in that split second, I seize the opportunity.

"Hyah!" I cry out, urging my mount into action with all the force I can muster.

One second, two seconds and I'm already kilometers away.

"Titus!" Her voice cuts through the air like a razor.

I laugh, undisturbed, and urge my mount on, spurring it faster. Dust billows in our wake as the hooves of my unicorn pound against the earth. I push it harder, feeling the exhilaration of the race.

The summer wind whips through my hair as I lean into the ride, feeling the rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins. The unicorn snorts, sensing the thrill of the chase, and accelerates even more. With a swift motion, I release the reins, trusting in the bond between us.

I rise from the saddle, a grin spreading across my face as I adjust my stance with practiced precision. Balanced atop the charging creature, I spread my arms wide, feeling the freedom of the open air. It's a dance of speed and skill, a symphony of motion as I ride like a king of the wild, a warrior of old aching for death.

Beside me, another unicorn and its rider catch up. "Titus!" The rider yells.

I glance over, a smirk playing on my lips. "What?" I holler back. "Can't you see I'm occupied?"

She scowls, a mixture of confusion and amusement dancing in her eyes. "We're supposed to be racing." she shouts, her words barely audible over the rushing wind.

"I'm aware," I reply, raising my voice to match hers. "But as it stands, I seem to be doing quite admirably. Still in the lead, last time I checked."

Her expression twists in disbelief. "That's because you cheated!"

I let out a laugh, the sound echoing across the open plains. "Cheated? Me?" I retort, feigning innocence. "I prefer to think of it as... creative strategy."

Her scowl changes now, no more playfulness in them. She whispers to her unicorn, and it begins to pick up even more speed.

She cuts in front of us and continues onward. I almost stumble as my stead jolts to adjust to the sudden interference.

"Oh, is that how it's going to be?" I smile. With a swift movement, I settle back into the saddle, readying myself for the chase. "Let's show them what we're made of, Eurus."

The unicorn senses my intent and responds eagerly, its powerful legs propelling us forward with astonishing speed. Hard muscled legs engineered for speed practically glides across the field. I could feel its powerful heart race as we close in on her.

We come to a halt beside the ancient oak tree crowning the hill. As I dismount, I find her already there, laughter dancing in her eyes, and her golden strands of hair gleams in the sunlight.

"I win." she declares triumphantly, her mount prancing proudly around her.

I chuckle, shaking my head in mock defeat. "I could have won."

"Perhaps," she replies, a playful smirk gracing her lips, "if you weren't so intent on putting on a show."

I roll my eyes, unable to suppress a grin. "What can I say? I'm an entertainer."

She laughs, the sound echoing through the clearing. "True enough, Titus. True enough."

She leans in, her presence magnetic as our lips meet briefly before parting.

"Come on." She says, getting back on her unicorn.
