A Mortal's Life(3)

After reaching the small hut, Xue Feng didn't try to sleep eventhough he was tired after all the days work. He kept his bag inside the hut and left. He then walked towards the top of the mountain that existed a few kilometres near the lake. Though it was tiring, he did not care. Soon he reached the summit and sat under a tree.

Looking at the scenery, Xue Feng then calmed his heart, and his mind soon relaxed. Throwing out all the tension from his heart.

He had been sailing the boat for almost 2 decade, currently he was 99 years old. The reason he thought that he would soon die is not because he had some sort of disease, No! It's because he knew that a mortal lifespan comes to an end after reaching 100.

It's not like all mortals die at 100. Only rare few survives till their 90s. However, no one survive their hundredth year without some form of cultivation. It was some sort of heavenly law which was a common knowledge that he picked up during all his travels.

However, the reason Xue Feng didn't try to sleep and did all he could to reach here, was because he knew that today was his last day. Yes, this midnight would be the day when he would touch his hundredth year.

Knowing this, he teared up. He didn't want to die yet. But what could he even do after living. Could he become an Immortal? He didn't think so. He just waited for his time to be up. Thinking maybe his next life would be good. However, he wasn't sure if there could possibly an afterlife or none at all.

He couldn't keep his posture up, so he leaned against the tree. Eventhough he tried to be awake through all this, he couldn't and his tired body eventually fell asleep.

Soon the night passed. The darkness slowly getting eradicated due to the sun rays coming through the horizon. Xue Feng was still leaning against the tree. However, what was weird was that was his heart was still beating.
