Fight for the Momentum

//This chapter turned out to be the biggest one yet. It took me more time to write than it usually takes to write two chapters. I didn't realize that writing the action scenes which are visually present could be so time-consuming, even though I was learning from the process. I apologize for any grammatical errors, and please feel free to ignore them.//

The day of the Mount Hua - Southern Edge Sect conference had finally dawned. Everyone could feel the pressure; the young Taoists sitting in front of them were too nervous. They understood that their performance today was going to affect Mount Hua, especially since they heard it might be the last conference. Seeing these young Taoists carry such a burden, which should have been borne only by the sect leader and elders, made it evident they were incapable of shouldering it alone.

"Sect leader, it seems all second and third-class disciples are very nervous."

"They must be nervous about the spar, but it doesn't matter whether they win or not."

At that moment, some unexpected visitors arrived at Mount Hua. As they entered, the sect leader realized they were all prominent merchants whom they couldn't mistreat. It seemed like a trap of the Southern Edge Sect to which Elder Sima replied, "Please don't think that we coordinated with them in advance."

This was true, as all of them were invited by the Euncha Merchant Guild, which showed very high support for them. Elder Sima continued, "We are fine with them being spectators as this is the last conference, and having some audience doesn't hurt."

Now the sect leader was trapped; he couldn't say no to these high-profile people, but he also couldn't let them see Mount Hua get defeated and lose its reputation. He looked towards all the elders and finally towards Shisui. After careful consideration, he allowed them to watch and ordered preparations for snacks and chairs for them.

Now Un Gum came on stage and announced the start of the Mount Hua - Southern Edge Sect conference.

The first match was between Baek Cheon and Jin Dongryong. Baek was wearing black, and Jin was wearing white. Both of them highly contrasted with each other. Seeing this spectacle, everyone had high excitement as this match was going to affect the whole conference and would give momentum that would be hard to break, as both of them were the most senior second disciples and the strongest among them.

Both reached the stage, and Jin Dongryong spoke first, "You didn't run away?"

Baek Cheon answered with a determined face, "I am the Great Sahyung of Mount Hua's second-class disciples. There's no way that I could run."

"Big words, coming from you."

The moment someone was about to speak, Jin moved raised his sword and pointed at Baek Cheon.

"Well, the smallest dogs are known to bark the loudest."

"Are you going to be bitten by a dog then?"

"I made a mistake. You aren't even a dog."

"You…"

"Try it once. As I said yesterday, I will show you. How insignificant you truly are."

Baek Cheon didn't bother responding. Instead, he briefly glanced at where sect leader was sitting.

'Sect leader is watching.'

Now was the time to set aside his personal grudges and selfishness.

"I am the second-class disciple, Baek Cheon."

Baek Cheon locked eyes with Jin Dongryong. He, too, raised his wooden sword and squared off with his opponent.

Everyone watched as tension ignited the air.

Baek cheon who seemed like a crouching tiger left his place , he sprinted towards Jin and aimed his sword towards his neck 

there was no unnecessary movement in that

Swoosh!

Sword sliced through the air as Jin side stepped and dodged it

Baek quickly changed the direction of his sword and once again attacked , Baek right now possessed very high speed and without losing it he was launching consecutive attacks 

Dozens of strikes were launched in air ,

seeing his intense attacks many people admired and 2nd class and 3 rd class disciples of Mount Hua were happy as they saw him pushing back Jin .

Even sect leader was astonished from his performance , " I knew it that he was talented but it seems that he is not that far behind 1st class disciples and will soon surpass him."

All disciples had hope that maybe this time Baek will win against .

Yoon Jong shouts " Chung Myung , senior is pushing back Jin ."

" Yeah.."

" He can win this match right?"

At this Chung Myung just sighed while Shisui giggled , this scene attracted attention of all 3rd class disciples as everyone knew that Chung Myung's was full of disappointment and Shisui's giggle was sadistic .

"Yoon Jong doesn't this scene looks familiar ? I mean 3 months ago my and Chung Myung spar used to looked like this."

" What do you mean ? you never used those techniques !"

" He meant that during our spar his sword was quick, strong and looked cool but he wasn't able to hit me even one time . just like baek haven't able to hit jin even one time ." reply Chung Myung with a long sigh .

" And look at his face , does it look like of someone who is winning?"

Yoon Jong's face hardened as he looked towards Baek Cheon.

Baek Cheon's face seemed to crumble as he appeared to be struggling.

He flew towards Jin like a toranado and swung his sword towards him but all of it was in vain as Jin just dodged it .

Baek took a leap and jumped towards Jin and swung the sword aiming at his chest , but at the last moment Jin dodged it again .

Self doubts start entering his mind but he pushed them out and collected Ki( energy) in his sword and sliced it with all his might towards jin's neck but Jin just lowered his upper body and dodged it again .

At this point all self doubts started corrupting his mind , but he still collected a large amount of ki and displayed an illusion of several swords reaching towards jin .

Now , for the first time Jin swung his sword and deflected the attack with using only a small amount of ki but it was enough to deflect the attack while breaking the sword of Baek .

Jin asks coldely " Have you had your fun?"

"… You!."

"Stupid brat. No matter how hard you struggle to learn Mount Hua's martial arts, do you really think you could even touch the hair on my head?"

Jin's sword pierced Baek Cheon at an imperceptible speed.

Puak!

Baek Cheon fell to the floor with a gasp, unable to scream, as he was struck in the shoulder.

"Khh…"

Groaning, he forced himself to stand. When he raised his head, he saw Jin approaching him with a leisurely smile.

"You'll soon understand with your body. Just how much of an idiot you are."

Without mercy, Jin's sword fell on Baek Cheon.

Baek screams in pain , Jin stomps on him while mocking him 

"Foolish Bastard , No matter how many martial arts of Mount Hua sect you learn you will never be able to touch even a single hair of mine." and jin unleash another attack on Baek ,

Baek gets thrown to another side of the stadium . But Baek doesn't give up , he grabs the sword again and quickly swing it towards Jin to which Jin just slides thorugh the attack and launch an counter attack and three air blades hits baek and got him to knees .

Baek Cheon showes his tencity and grabbed his broken sword and leaps towards Jin once again and swing his sword while he is in mid air but its all in vain as he still can't even graze his sword upon him and gave Jin an opening and he counters the attack by peircing his wooden sword at Baeks chest .

Kuaak

Baek Cheon, with one hand, pressed heavily on the ground and tried to raise himself up again.

"…"

Bloodshot eyes.

Despite the pain, he glared at Jin with a fierce will.

"Oh?"

Jin looked at Baek Cheon, a bit surprised.

"You're struggling so hard just to stand, but your spirit is still alive."

Jin raised his sword at Baek Cheon.

"But that spirit is all you have. You will remain unable to even touch my clothes for the rest of your life."

"… why?"

"You must really lack a brain. I already told you."

Taking a look around, Jin spoke.

"That's how great the difference between Mount Hua and the Southern Edge Sect is. The martial arts of Mount Hua cannot compare to the martial arts of the Southern Edge Sect. A hundred years may pass! Even if you had a thousand years! Nothing would change!"

An arrogant declaration.

But no one could refute Jin. Even the elders of Mount Hua could only listen and bite their lips, but they could not bring themselves to decry his remark.

Hyun Jong shut his eyes tightly.

'How long must we endure this?Even if we have a genius Uchiha but how far can he go alone ? I am sure he will surpass him but it will take him years before he can defeat someone like Jin who is older than him by more than a decade. '

Who could understand this situation? The elders of the sect were unable to condemn or punish a second-class disciple despite him uttering such humiliating words.

'My disciples'

'Forgive me.'

But Jin's arrogance didn't end there.

He smiled at Baek Cheon.

"If you still want to catch up to me even after this, then you'd better leave Mount Hua. There's no future here. The only thing left for this ruined sect is ridicule."

Baek Cheon clenched his teeth.

"I… am a disciple of Mount Hua."

"Well, that's fine. Then if that's the case…."

Jin took his sword in hand and rushed at Baek Cheon.

Baek Cheon tried to somehow defend himself, but his arm failed to respond.

Puak!

A vicious sound rang out as Baek Cheon was struck another dozen times before he collapsed.

Thud!

Jin glanced at Baek Cheon, who fell unconscious and grinned.

"I need to show you. Ah, my bad. It's a little too late now."

With a sly smirk, he retrieved his sword and stepped over the body of Baek Cheon. Steadily walking, he returned to his group.

The first fight which is going to decide the whole momentum can be said to decide the tournament was over and Mount Hua was Defeated .

A complete Defeat.
