I Will Love You In This Life

"You lowly commoner." That phrase was the only thing he remembered before his death, but that didn't affect him at all because, in the end, he would go back in time and live in another loop. Ares Trasven, a name that the tyrant gave him after he took him as a slave and threw him into the basement so he could learn how to serve for the rest of his life. He was raised and fed so he could become the tyrant's daughter's plaything. Alexandria Valtris, the daughter's tyrant, was the symbol of destruction and chaos. She was so evil that everyone wanted her dead. Ares served her all his life until her death on her 21st birthday by poisoned. Ares was so thrilled and happy about her death that he realized that he was poisoned as well. He woke up and it happened again, he was picked up by the tyrant. Tortured, starved, and brainwashed again for the second time. The third time... The fourth time... The fifth time... "Prophecy? What kind of bullshit is that? You made her that way..." Ares scoffed with tears in his eyes. "Alexandria... I will love you in this life..." Ares said as he wiped his tears.

The Prince.

Lazarus managed to reach the camp safely, he wiped the lipstick on his mouth as he walked with the knights who escorted him to where Khazad and Hidar were at. He looked back but he didn't see Ares ever since he left him near the gate, he was a bit worried and prayed to the god he believed in for Ares's safety.

Lazarus stood in front of a tent where Khazad and Hidar were, the knight guided him inside and he saw them were talking to each other and pointing their fingers at the map. Khazad looked at the Lazarus and furrowed his forehead for a moment.

"Ah, you're here," Khazad said as he walked toward Lazarus.

Lazarus looked at Khazad and it reminded him of Ares. "My lord! Ares Trasven! He stayed behind and he's fighting with the knights right now! We need to save him!"

Khazad raised his eyebrows. "That kid is fine, you don't have to worry about him," he said calmly. "Now, tell us about the revelation that you saw, tell us the details," he said and dismissed Lazarus's concern about Ares.

Lazarus sat down and looked at the carpet on the ground. "It happened a few days ago in my sleep. I was in the church and there were flames everywhere so I got out of the church and saw a silhouette of a man standing with a blood-covered sword in his hand. He lifted his sword up in the air and he screamed his lungs out, he said that the Eurel Empire will protect all the people who are loyal to her. A banner of the Eurel Empire was all around the city and the knights from the Lustasia were all laying on the ground dead," he explained.

Hidar and Khazad were looking at Lazarus and then they looked at each other, Hidar then flipped his hand as he looked at Lazarus. "Do you see the man who said that?" he asked.

"No, it was just a silhouette but I can still remember his voice. His voice isn't from an old man, his voice sounded so young, maybe a man with the same age as Ares, but his voice is so gentle," Lazarus answered.

"A young man with a gentle voice, huh?" Khazad said as he rubbed his chin.

"Could it be the prince? He's famous with his gentle voice and he's still young," Hidar said as he looked at Khazad.

Khazad scoffed. "The prince? I would be surprised if he come here to join the war. The prince is nothing but a public figure, he's not brave enough to join a war, he's nothing compared to his father."

The moment after he said that, a knight came into his tent out of breath. "My lord! The reinforcement has arrived!"

Khazad raised his eyebrows and looked at him. "About time! Who's coming?"

"The royal knights, my lord! They're led by the prince!" He answered as he gulped.

Both Khazad and Hidar were surprised when they heard that, Lazarus smiled and his eyes were wide open because his revelation really came true.

"Impossible! The prince has the guts to join the war?!" Khazad said as he left the tent to check and Hidar followed him from behind.

Lazarus decided to follow them outside and stood next to Khazad's tent.

"What with the commotion? Is the reinforcement finally here?" Ares asked Lazarus.

"Yes, the royal knights are here and the prince is leading them," Lazarus said as he looked at Ares. "Wait?! You're here?! Are you hurt?!" Lazarus said as he looked at Ares's shirt and arms that were covered with blood.

Ares took off his shirt and wiped the sweat and blood on his body while Lazarus stared at his body which was full of scars. He wanted to look away but he couldn't because of the scars on Ares's body, he then finally looked away as he took a deep breath.

"I guess the war is about to over..." Ares said under his breath while he was wiping his armpits.

"How do you know the war is about to be over?" Lazarus asked but he realized that Ares could see the future. "Oh, I forgot..." he said.

Ares wore a new shirt that he brought from his tent, he then patted Lazarus's shoulder. "You're going to accompany the prince from now on. Guides him based on the revelation that you had in your dream," he said and then he left to get his armor and sword.

Ares walked to his tent which was not far from where the prince and the royal knights were. Prince Siegfried Morenai, the future emperor, the firstborn of Karise Morenai, was the one and only prince of the Eurel Empire. He was the one that Ares killed in his previous loop when he executed Alexandria in front of the public.

He looked at each one of them, he was looking for a knight, a woman that would become the Paladin in the future that will stand by Lazarus's side. He kept looking until he saw her right behind Siegfried staring at Khazad and Hidar with hatred, her name was Catherina Ivory. He wanted to bring her to his side because she would be useful for him in the future compared to when she was a paladin.

Ares put on his armor and the belt on his waist, he came out from his tent and looked at Siegfried, Hidar, and Khazad walking toward Khazad's tent while Lazarus was waiting next to Khazad's tent. He used the opportunity to approach Catherina and befriend her before Khazad ordered them to advance and take over the city.

Catherina was busy sharpening her sword and Ares looked at her left hand, Catherina lost her left hand in this war because she was protecting Lazarus. Ares's plan was to prevent that from happening and helped her at the last second.

"Yes? Can I help you?" Catherina asked Ares who was staring at her.

Ares shook his head. "Nothing, it quite rare to see a lady become a knight," Ares said.

Catherina smiled and shook her head. "Do you know me?" she asked.

Ares nodded and gently smiled back at her. "Yes, I heard a Baron's daughter joined the royal knight and you're quite famous in my hometown because you gave hope to all women with brave hearts," Ares replied.

"I'm flattered, thank you for the compliment..." Catherina said then she stood up. "Where are my manners, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Catherina Ivory, and as you said, I'm the Baron's daughter and the proud royal knight," she said.

"With all due respect, it was me who's being rude. My name is Ares Trasven," Ares said and offered his hand for a handshake.

Catherina was surprised as she grabbed Ares's hand. "Ah! You're the famous Ares Trasven! The best knight of Valtris! It's an honor to finally be able to see you in person. I'm curious what kind of person you are but knowing that you're this young really surprised me," Catherina said as she shook her hand.

A knight took a peek and scoffed. "I thought you hate the Archduke, Cath, why are you being friendly with his knight?"

"I hate the man, not his men, that's a totally different matter," Catherina said as she looked at the knight.

They both started to get friendly since Ares knew what kind of person Catherina was so it was easy for him to get close to her.

Inside the tent where Khazad, Hidar, Siegfried, Lazarus, and the commander of the royal knight were at. They were discussing about their plan of attack, after knowing that Siegfried came with a total of 100.000 knights, they had a chance to take the city back and pushed the enemy out from the Eurel Empire's territory for good.

"Are you going to lead the royal knight, Prince Siegfried?" Khazad asked as he glanced at Siegfried.

"Ah, it's better to leave the leading to you, Lord Khazad, we all acknowledge your achievements and legendary acts in the past. We believe it's better to leave the royal knights under your command," Siegfried said as he smiled at Khazad.

Khazad already knew what Siegfried was scheming, Siegfried never planned on leading the army in the first place and gave the command to Khazad. In the end, he would take the credit as the prince who led the army to victory because Khazad never mentioned or bothered about his achievements in the past, so even if Siegfried would lie about his deeds, Khazad didn't bother and let him take the credit for it.

"Fine, if that's what you wish for then I will gladly lead the army," Khazad said as he looked at Hidar.

Hidar bowed his head and left the tent.

"So, are you going to join us in the war, Prince Siegfried?" Khazad asked.

"Of course, I will have Commander Rayner with me so I will be fine," Siegfried answered.

Khazad looked at Rayner and he bowed his head without saying anything. "Alright, ready the men, we are going to take what belongs to us,"
