"Not so fast Calder. Go do it yourself. You can't have Rutley translate your one word answers all the time. Besides I need to talk to him for a bit." Esai said as his happy face changed into a stoic one. Rutley face turned grey as he walked up to Esai. "Alright." Calder said before he took his leave. His shoulders sagged, as an imaginary tail fell and slipped between his legs as he slowly walked to the door.
Esai pursed his lips as he tried his best not to laugh out loud. Calder knew his brother was trying to be supportive but he really didn't want to invite the women to brunch, at least not without Rutley.
He also had his hands full with his Duke responsibilities. He took a peak into his study earlier and spotted the piles and piles of documents waiting for him to review. "I should do the responsible thing first." Calder said out loud as he nodded his head to his own words.
"But that's a lot of work... I need a reward for being so responsible. Taking care of my Dukedom is more important then going to brunch. I think I might stop by the library and grab myself an early reward." Calder said as he stopped walking. "But then again I kinda want to save my brother's life...." Calder muttered. Suddenly pure and evil Calder appeared.
"You should go see the ladies first. Your brother gave you a great suggestion. Don't disappointed him when all he wants is to see you happy." Pure Calder said. "Ya and think, they might be busy or better yet turn you down!" Evil Calder chimed in.
"You both want me to go see the ladies first huh?" Calder asked with a bored voice. "Not at all." They both said in unison. "Then why send me?!" Calder shouted. "It's what you want to do." Pure Calder answered. "I want to see you fail." Evil Calder replied.
"Alright let's get this over and done with. I will fail, go hungry and then reward myself with a trip to the library." Calder said to himself happily. "I don't think that's the plan you should be going with. You should really work hard and capture one of those ladies hearts." Pure Calder advised. "Let him have some fun. There's no way Esai would ever want his sloppy seconds so let him be carefree for a while." Evil Calder said before they both disappeared.
With a slight bounce in his step, Calder went to Lady Britille's room and knocked. He waited for a few seconds then knocked again. No answer. "Well on to the next!" Calder said enthusiastically and walked to the next wing.
He stopped in front of Lady Syria's room and knocked. He waited a bit then knocked a bit harder. No answer. He tried one last time and knocked even harder. To Calder's surprise he had punched in the part of the door. Cracks spread everywhere..
Calder quickly looked around and saw that no one was around. He slowly backed away then ran away. "Oh crap, oh crap! I broke the door, I broke the door, oh my G*d I broke the door." Calder said as he ran towards his room. He threw open the door and started to look around his room furiously. He ripped apart the drawers, threw the contents everywhere but he couldn't find anything to patch up the door. He then turned and saw his own door.
Calder rushed back with his own door in hand. He still couldn't believe his own monstrous strength. He cried as he thought back on how he used his bare hands to pull the pins from the hinges but he was desperate, he didn't have time to find tools. He turned the corner and looked around.
The coast was clear. Calder raced forward with the door in hand and stopped in front of Lady Syria's room. He laid the door beside the room and then reached for the door handle.
It was unlocked. He cracked it open a little and looked inside. "Hello.... Hello, hell-o it's me Calder... I swear I'm not trying to be a pervert." Calder said loudly into the room. "That's all I need is to catch her while she's bathing." Calder muttered to himself as he snuck into the room. He slightly closed the door and quickly got to work.
It didn't take him too long to pull the pins from the hinge and swap the doors out. Calder let out a sigh of relief and left the room without a problem. He then grabbed the broken door and rushed back to his own room.
He quickly hinged the door on and made sure it closed. Then he saw it. "Oh-h crap! I screwed up." Calder gasped as he took another step back. "I really didn't think this through" He continued to say as he brought his hands to his hair.
"They don't match." He groaned as he combed his hair back with his fingers. "Heheheh. I'm such a moron." He said as he laughed at himself in self mockery. "Buddy calm down." Pure Calder said as he popped up on Calder's right shoulder.
"Don't tell him to calm down!" Evil Calder shouted as he appeared. "Don't blow things out of proportions. She might not even notice, the door is almost... the exact same." Pure Calder said as he averted his eyes.
"For an angel you can lie pretty well." Evil Calder said with a smirk. "I'm not lying! I'm trying to comfort our boy! Of course she will see the difference but what the hell is he going to do?!" Pure Calder yelled. "Easy by himself some time." Evil Calder replied. "We're listening." The other two said in unison.
"Right, so angel, you can come up with the nitty gritty details but basically you will track Lady Syria down and ask her out to brunch in the town so she our her hands won't see the door. Then get Rutley to fix the problem. He's smart he'll know what to do and best part you will be completing your brother's task. It's a win-win situation." Evil Calder explained. Calder and pure Calder nodded heir heads in approval.
