Chapter 22
Audrey had taken her sweet time to dress up the morning after.
Michael had kissed her bye earlier than usual because he needed to travel early. The black trouser Audrey wore to work was immaculately ironed, so was her yellow shirt and black suit.
Her curves showed perfectly in the trouser. She applied light make up on her face and tied her hair in a tight ponytail until she was satisfied with how she looked.
She drove herself to work asking her driver to take a day off. She didn't want to come appearing as a rich woman, people already saw her as one and she didn't exactly like it. She really needed to take some of the attention of her.
Looking at her garage she couldn't find a car that won't draw attention to her, which was something she wanted to avoid with all her Strength on the first day of work. After five minutes of scouting she finally picked a red Ferrari. Most people in new Zealand owned a Ferrari, even those in the middle class, so using the Ferrari was her best bet.
She got to the office ten minutes before 8 her which was her official time to resume as stated in the e-mail congratulating her for getting the job. The email also stated that she had to meet with the head Lucas Pedro before she resumed her duty as the editor in chief.
Her meeting with Lucas Pedro was one she dreaded and longed for in the same breath. Audrey's hands were sweaty from anticipation and fear as she got down from her car.
Ignoring the curios eyes that starred at her, she said hi to the nice receptionist. Then without waiting behind for a second more she took the elevator to the fourth floor.
"Oh my God! You are really here. When the boss told me you will come, I didn't think you would. I thought he was only joking although he doesn't joke but it just sounded too good to be true so I took it as one." Clara blabbed drawing Audrey into a warm hug.
"It is too good to be true huh." Audrey laughed, taking in a deep breath. The Ac kept blasting her and she could feel herself shivering even under her suit.
"You look pretty." Clara said, taking Audrey's hands while admiring her.
"Well thank you." Audrey blushed. She was getting more and more anxious the more time she stayed talking. She didn't know how to dismiss Clara though that's without hurting the nice secretary . Thankfully Clara soon caught up to her discomfort.
"You should report to him. He is waiting." Clara smiled letting go of her Audrey.
"Thanks for the warm welcome." Audrey smiled even though inside she was shaking.
Was she really ready to encounter Lucas again?
