Although Xia Wan'an and Han Jingnian worked for the same company, they were in different departments, on different floors, so they had never met in the office.
The Han Family business was a jewelry company, and the nationally spread Starlight Jewelry Store was a storied century-old brand. Interestingly, Xia Wan'an studied jewelry design, not because of Han Jingnian, but out of her personal interest for it.
Workday was still busy as usual, and by the time Xia Wan'an finished her work, it was already three in the afternoon. She had forgotten to eat lunch, so she ordered a takeout. While waiting, she remembered that she was supposed to check some stocks in the warehouse last week, but she couldn't because the warehouse got locked before she could get there. So she made use of this time to go to the company's basement warehouse.
The majority of items in the warehouse had been discarded. She searched for a while before finally finding what she needed on a top shelf.
Wearing high heels, she barely managed to reach the box. She stretched her hand for a long time and finally managed to pull the box from the top.
She embraced the box, took out the items to check them, but didn't notice that the old shelf she bumped into before was now unstable. As she got what she needed and was about to leave, the shelf suddenly collapsed and hit her back hard, knocking her unconscious…
When Xia Wan'an woke up, she was in pain. Opening her eyes, she found herself in a white room.
She wasn't sure where she was, she looked around before realizing that she was in a hospital and then she recalled what happened before she passed out…
But who was it that brought her to the hospital? And, where were her things?
With that thought, Xia Wan'an attempted to move her body and immediately her back filled with intense pain.
Just as she gasped from the pain, the door opened. A nurse came in.
"Um, could you tell me who brought me here?" Xia Wan'an asked anxiously.
"A middle-aged man called for an ambulance..." the nurse replied.
Xia Wan'an thought it must be the warehouse worker from her company.
She didn't say anything else after that.
The nurse took her blood pressure and said, "We need to keep you in the hospital for observation, so you should call your family to watch over you…"
Xia Wan'an just nodded, and after the nurse left, she picked up her phone.
She didn't call her parents, fearing they might disturb Han Jingnian. So, she only called Song Youman, and made her swear to keep it a secret.
After ending the call with Song Youman, she stared at her phone for a while before dialing the landline to the assistant's office of Han Jingnian.
Whether she came home or not, Han Jingnian might not care. But due to an earlier incident where her mother couldn't find her and ended up calling Han Jingnian, she decided to inform him whenever something like this happens to avoid her mother's interrogation. To be more precise, she'd tell his assistant... Yes, even if she was the one to initiate a call to him over all these years, it was to his assistant.
After ringing for a while, the call was answered: "Hello?"
PS: Guess who picked up the phone?
Ye Feiye: I want to interview you, Han Jingnian, do you like Xia Wan'an?
Han Jingnian: What do you think?
Ye Feiye: Nevermind, forget I asked. Do you guys have any votes of recommendation?
